Hi, been making some $.  I believe 80% in technical analysis (charts) as it's a "visual" of peoples emotions.  Why do you think patterns recur?

We have the same problem but that was a few months ago when I am one of those who believes in those signal groups and buying coins left and right without even checking if its just a P&D. I buy those that are not in green anymore and I check how much is the lest for the past 3 days. Check the back ground of the token if there's any development. I remember Buying GBYTE thinking that its at good price already then all of sudden price dropped, because GBYTE already made an air drop and holders started dumping. Always be on the look out for any news about the token.

So you are already 6months as a trader. We already know that in trading there are times that you will make profit and there are times that it is negative. Important thing is you gained experience in trading. Anyway what coins do you usually trade? If it is in the top 100, its better if you hold.

You've been trading since May. I think you should've learn your own lessons by now. You don't need to ask us about "learnings". Don't just let those losses be losses. Learn from it. Think what went wrong and what you should've done to avoid those losses. If you're just going to keep on doing that. You'll surely lose all your capital in the future.
We should really learn from our mistakes and we should not stay up to commit the same mistakes again and again because it wont really mold us up to be a better trader.Loses is normal but we should really learn from it just like what others do said on here and you are trading quiet for how many months already which means you do have the experience and the ideas and all you do need is adjustments regarding on your trading ways and strategies which would able to change the outcome.

i don't know if you never got profit or not during your trading activities since May 2017 but losing 50% from your basic capital amount is huge loss especially if you were starting trading with huge amount but as you said that you're regularly trading at bittrex which mean possibly you're trade for altcoin and to minimize the risk then do not pick altcoin which have low volume support and do not buy altcoin if the price lower than 5 satoshi because it's risky
Honestly, let us face one fact, May 2017 till this date is pretty much a huge number of months for the OP not to have make some profit at some point. Either he was too greedy waiting for a better profit when he could have cash out every time, did not learn from his previous mistakes and still did not cash out the next time while still repeating the same thing every time and expecting different results, or he bought into some shit coins that are absolutely dead and he is bag holding them right now, or he just went on a vacation and just came back to see the huge loss. I cannot imagine the number of times I have made profit even on shit coins before we started having the huge craze in the market. Come on! OP is not telling us something.

I dont know what coins you traded, but in most cases if you traded alts, what is likely on Bittrex, you lost capital in regards to initial bitcoin value. So this is origninating from the unstoppable price surge of Bitcoin and is the case for most people that traded alts, or held alts. While Bitcoin is getting more expensive every day, your altportfolio looses value. I for example only held some different altcoins and they all underperformed in comparison to BTC, means that my portfolio also diminished more than half. But I keep hodling on, alts will recover.

Ouch, well I hope you did some research before putting ANY form of capital into cryptos or any investments for that matter. Remember the golden rule as well - only invest what you can afford to lose.

With that being said, here are some things I suggest you doing, because I hate to see people lose money.

1. Do not panic sell. Yes it's scary to see your money drop lower and lower every day, but the market always tends to balance itself. You may not recover your full loses, but there's nothing worse than buying at the peak and selling at its lowest point.

2. Know that the crypto market isn't regulated so there WILL be lots of corruption. Insider trading, pump and dumps, etc. Be smart and stay the fuck away from scam ICOs.

3. RESEARCH. Please. Just read things and know exactly what you're putting your money into and why you think it will be successful.

Good luck.

The best advice that I could give you is that, you should be patient because trading is not simple and it is risky. That is why you should keep an eye on the news and you should keep an eye on prices. Buy low and sell high, avoid following what others are telling you because it is your money, make your own judgement when trading.

It's good to calculate your progress but I think you should do it with less intervals of time so that you can take corrective measures in order to avoid the further loss. Remember, a loss is not bad if you learning lessons from it so do spend some time in digging your trade history and analyse it, find the reasons where you went wrong and what steps you could have taken at that time to avoid the same. Do not worry, a good trader can even turn his 5% capital in 100% with the passage of time but in your case, you are already 45% ahead so don't lose faith and introspect your decisions.

Hi,
Im not a Professional, i also strated like you to trading in mai and actually im at a nice return. But before in july i was like you, i was at 50% loss. And this with Ether! Yeah, im the only one who make big gain with ether and after coud lose 50% off my capital i think! I was new and when Ether dropped with the info that Vitalik died and the network crashed, i paniced and thought it was inteligent to sell and buy back at 10% lower price to gain a few Ethers.. And guess what? Ether just shoot up again, when i sell with 50% lose.
And after that i did a second big mistake, i did buy Ether back when i sell for $170 i think and when it fall to $120! Coud make 50$ gain/Ether and before it returned to $220!
So i learned, even when a good coin drop Something like 50% there is big chance it shoot up again..

There is a big difference between trading and Investment. With trading 80% off people will make losses. So i advice you to invest and not to trade.
Invest is investing in different coins (good coins with a future) and wait you make gains.

After losing a lot, i invested my 50% in a coin in july. Pure luck because that coin was Neo.
And there i maded another error. i bought it at 7$ and coud sell it at his high in August , Something like $45 i think ad i didnt. I whant to sell my neo's only at $100.
No luck for me , you knowed what happened with china.. So i had my 50% back and made a nice gain and i finally selled.

I advice if your coins are not serious projects, try to find a few good projects. Invest 20% in each one and hold at least 6mouths.
There is a proverb i heard from Palm Beach Group that said "Buying when the blood is flowing in the Streets.."
So thats my strategie to, when everybody is running to a pump, try to find those serious coins that have a dip, and thats the moment to invest..

I woud advice to never buy when a coin is pumping. Many big players know the info before us, whales are manipulating and when you realise the game is done, and they just will take your money before leaving the market... One's again, buy when a coin is in a dip or you dont buy if he is noy to avoid risk.

Look now with bitcoin.. Think to people who buyed at $11500.. Whales knowed BTC will drop a moment, and many taked there gain at 11500 and even has buy back at $9500 or lower..

I hope you will recover soon. Good luck!

You are still lucky enough that what you lost in trading is only 50% since May, it is still manageable  and able to correct all your mistakes and learn some lesson from it. Trading in altcoins is quite riskier if you didn't know and have little knowledge about their market potential. My best advice is to invest the top 5 altcoins and wait for another months for gain, all top 5 altcoins are bullish in this month until 1st quarter of 2018.

50% lost is recoverable in altcoin market. However, if you invest in shitcoins then you are going to be trapped. That's why its good to invest in the top selling altcoins only. And just look at how they are skyrocketing right now although some have a few dips.

Yes, Its a good advise to stick to the top 5 altcoins because some of them are good to hold for long term, like ETH. Its you have bought it at the floor price then you should be getting a good dividends specially if you have sold it at its all time high a few days ago. But its still above $400 so it is still at a good position.

Before jump in to altcoin trading I think firstly you should be have and learn about trading plan and risk management. This is very important to minimize the risk and to maximize the profit. One of the risk management is use stop loss and take profit. Stop loss is very important to use when we are wrong, for example specify stop loss 20%, and when reach this level just sell in loss to reduce the lose. Also very important to decide how much target profit when we are in profit,  for the better maksimum 30% and dont be greedy. Bittrex is one of the good exchange and they has full regulation and the volume is big there.

Trading is high risk,
we have to enter it while ready to lose money.

It is common that some of person lose their money
some lose their bitcoin.

Just keep going, it is fun
