I think DUO ParallelCoin might be worth looking at this year, its an old coin with a circulation of around 350,000 and a maximum total of 1 million coins, the coin has been pretty dormant over the last few years but has now been took over, and if the proposed plans come into place, the price should rise sharply

I've been reading through this forums for the past few weeks and all I see is "this coin is dead" or "everything is a shit coin". Is there any alt coin with potential to invest in or is it only bitcoin? I don't mean like a few here and there, I mean over 100 coins.
In my opinion, it is better to make your own research and trust your guts.
The most of the privacy coins are undervalued right now.
The best opportunity is to find a privacy-related project with a low total supply (less than 100M), that way the price will be increasing much faster.
I recently found one project called Ethereum Meta, it is related to anonymity and untraceable transaction. They have a very interesting project to build the Anonymous E-Market Place.

Do research before blindly investing in anything. With that said, I think PinkDate is an interesting investment that could be promising. They have bonuses too.
Its adviseable to study coins which are being supported by some successful projects,having good developers,having good idea,good marketing strategy,when you invest in these kind of coins you would certainly succeed.For short term investment you should select LTC,XRP,NEO,ADA,these coins are good and have strong community behind them,use these coins on day trading.For long term investment you should go for ETH,which is backed by strong,hardworking team,its being given in tokens in many successful ICO,hold your ETH for some time and sell when price is above your purchasing.Everything you have to decide by yourself,these are all supporting for that.

ETH, SYS, LTC, and PinkDate. The first three are for obvious reasons. The last, Pinkdate, is a recent investment of mine because I think they have a practical project that could take off.
I think the potential of good altcoin is ETH, NEO because the distribution of volumes in various stable exchanges backed up by investors and large communities.
especially now it is again the season down because the parent cryptocurrency BITCOIN is also again being slumped but that's only temporarily altcoin just adjust the appeal price with bitcoin but if bitcoin has started stable altcoin will certainly continue to rise like ETH, NEO it's altcoin I think good.

Both ETH and NEO have a huge potential of becoming something big in the long term. Given that businesses and mainstream companies have become interested in smart contracts, these altcoins certainly have a bright future ahead of them. Not to mention, they have a wide user base, active development, and innovation, making them worth buying and holding for years to come.
Things aside, there are also other good smart contract cryptocurrencies which are worth buying. Those are EOS, Qtum, and Lisk. The first one (EOS), is said to be Ethereum's killer as it provides many features that will bring better scalability and capacity to smart contracts. The second is like NEO as it is a Chinese smart contracts platform, and the last one has a good community and uses a well-known programming language among developers for its smart contracts. As such, I believe that altcoins which provide smart contracts are the future, and will be worth buying and holding for the long term. Just my thoughts
Altcoins just aren't what they used to be. Years ago they were many times more worth than what they are right now. I have invested just a few bucks or some dozens of pennies just as a small secondary safe investment, but I prefer coins that let you make your own paper wallet too. One of these is TrumpCoin, I don't know much about the coin but the paper wallet design looks pretty nice and I see it's great for trading, as the price fluctuates between the same two points for days so you're able to buy for low and sell for high without spikes.
What I'm afraid of is scams. There are good projects and there are those that were made for scams, and a good example I can give is Elysium. I didn't invest a lot in it ($1.5) but it was my first Altcoin investment and I will have to be more careful next time. Projects that seem to be too good to be true really are, or at least most of them. There are rarely projects that are truly awesome, and I have all the respect for the devs of them!
The coin I'm trusting right now is Monero.
