Dear community,

The new Bytecent network is up and running smoothly. We decided to delay the public release of version 2.1 for several hours to make sure the new anti-cheat security features are working correctly. We also had to update several wallets for all of our services. We will upload the new version of Bytecent 2.1 before Noon EST today, and I apologize for the inconvenience. While you wait, you can start preparing for the update now. This will be a complete fork and you will have to delete your old blockchain data.

1. Turn off your wallets/miners. Any coins mined on the old network when the fork was announced will not be valid on the new network. Running your old wallet/miners is wasting energy.

2. Please backup your wallet(s)!!!

3. Uninstall the old version of Bytecent.

4. After you are done uninstalling the old version of Bytecent, please delete the following directories.
C:\Users\Your Username\AppData\Roaming\Bytecent\blocks
C:\Users\Your Username\AppData\Roaming\Bytecent\chainstate
C:\Users\Your Username\AppData\Roaming\Bytecent\database

Note: You must delete the directories or the new Bytecent will not be able to sync.

Make sure you do NOT delete wallet.dat.

Also, our blockchain explorer is currently using the old Bytecent wallet and blockchain data: https://chainz.cryptoid.info/byc/#
We will coordinate with our blockchain provider to update their wallet and blockchain data ASAP.

Thank you for your continued patience, and I will be posting shorty again with links to the new update.

Best,
Christopher

Hello everyone,

We have successfully forked the network, the difficulty is reset, and were are now setting up new super nodes. We are also preparing the new version for release, and version 2.1 should be available to the public around 10 PM EST tonight.

Note: All transactions including coins mined after 11AM EST are not valid. Those of you that are using 1.3.3.3 exploits and stealing from this community will not be able to use your coins mined after 11AM today.

After everyone is on the new network, I will go into further details on who the culprits are exploiting the network, and what will be done in the future to prevent stealing from the Bytecent community.

Best,
Christopher

Bittrex not accept coins. The old network will not work. Who, then, to keep the coins that would not be lost?

Your coins are safe because you sent them before the fork. Once the wallet upgrade is complete, your coins should be available. However, we are asking Trex to keep the wallet disabled for a few days until we are confident the new network is stable. Note: You should never send coins to an exchange before checking to see if the wallet is active.

Oh my, what's up with the people they're dumping coins  Grin. It's down to 21k at Trex.

Good morning. We have temporarily removed buy support. Over the past 14 days, someone decided to setup some kind of botnet and has been mining a ton of coins. This increased mining started immediately after my announcement about the new version, which lead us to believe this individual was trying to get as many coins as he could before we launched the new version. The same individual has also been dumping coins on a daily basis. We decided to remain quiet to not tip him off while we understand the nature of his cheating. We have asked Trex to lock the wallet, and we will be performing a fork today to render all old miners useless. The new version will be step 1 of 2 updates over the next few weeks. We could not go live with every anti-cheat feature in one update, so we decided to have two updates. We are also resetting the difficulty to 7 so everyone who were not able to get their fair share of coins the past two weeks can. I will be sending out an official announcement within two hours, and instructions on how to upgrade. Buy support will be added back this morning.

April 7th I said we are releasing a new wallet in a couple of weeks, and it is now the 21st. Not sure how you conclude a "coin dies" when it has been exactly 2 weeks. No Bytecent is very much alive and we are preparing for the new release soon.
I am worried about the fate of the coins and I was worried that the purchasing power of the coin falls . So I 'm worried about the future of the coin .

I have been in crypto for a long time and am not worried. An undervalued coin is working on a real tangible business model. I think it is a pretty safe bet. It might fluctuate in value a bit, but that is very common with growing initiatives.

In a couple weeks I am going to be releasing a new version of Bytecent that will require a hard fork, but you will not need to reinstall the blockchain. However, all older versions of Bytecent will be rendered inoperable when the new version releases. I suggest everyone join our newsletter to keep updated on the new release: http://bytecent.us12.list-manage.com/subscribe/post?u=03aae2f1f956d6757ec8dd420&id=235b65587b

Hello everyone,

I apologize for the delay in my response. I have been testing a new system to prevent cheating and unauthorized miners, and unfortunately there were some bugs the affected everyone.  The issue was resolved an hour ago and you should be able to mine without issue.

Best,
Christopher
