Am I correct?
What makes ChipMixer different from others service is the combination of various sized chips

And...
The mixer is still taking 1 confirmation only for trusting our transactions? because according to theymos, It should be multiplied by 5 currently because of BIP91. I personally have no problem doing transactions but It's probably something that might be taken in considerations.

Asking the same question to myself while visiting the website, I am curious to know

If someone is afraid to be shut down from their servers by governments, I'd like to suggest hosting servers on decentralized domain services if there

Are any? or do we really need something like Bitcoin? being strong enough with enough network spread to render any government unable to shut down.

Another solution could be hosting servers on a country where US government, or any western governments couldn't reach like Iran.

Do you mean something like PeerName?

Big time for Chipmixer is coming!
After closing Bitmixer you can now bite a really big piece of cake!
It looks like Christmas in this year you will be celebrating in the summer!  Grin Grin Grin

wow wow wow! You are not kidding. I have just read through the bitmixer thread and they indeed have closed down.

Looks like the country they operated in put some pressure on them or something.

Chipmixer is a better service than bitmixer anyways, but this will certainly help chipmixer grow even larger now!

Bitmixer is now closed. Great news for ChipMixer! I'm wondering how the traffic towards chipmixer will be now that BM is closed, and I wish there was a way to track it. Either way, as sad as it is to see such a huge name disappear from the privacy aspect of mixing coins, this could potentially have some amazing positive effects on bitmixer. Good luck, chipmixer!
The news is not that great for a few reasons.

First, due to unexpected amount of traffic, all prepared chips were withdrawn (there were not enough for this demand), which means that some of you may have received less chips and a voucher for a missing sum. If you are one of those, you can now use your voucher. Why is it bad? Because chips you will withdraw now will be created after deposit which is one of the reasons why ChipMixer gives more privacy than other mixers. In this case, due to traffic, we could not offer that to you.

Second, if your competition stops for an unknown reason then it is never a good sign. They say it was a change of heart. Probably not true. But they did not do an exit scam so that is not big lie.
Why BitMixer left? If you check the news, you know that two big darknet markets were shut down by law enforcement. Both markets were protected by Tor and yet servers were located and one of them was made honeypot. An owner of one of the markets had four luxury cars and lot of money so everybody was asking - why keep risking a good life to provide darknet service? BitMixer owners probably asked it themselves and the answer was - it is not worth it anymore.

Today was a bad day for online privacy and bitcoin users. Thank you BitMixer for your work, you will be missed.

Don't let others control your BTC -> self custody
I do nothing illegal, but I wholeheartedly stand by the stance that what you do with your money is your business. The govt doesn't need to know that I went to Chili's yesterday and spent time at a theme park where I bought an icee.

I agree, but the government is not your friend. They are here to make money and take money from us, slaves. Yes, we are slaves of the system, and if you don't believe me try suing a judge, a politician, or even a high ranked police officer. You'll see how difficult it will be to achieve anything, even if their guilt is obvious. When they accuse you of something you get arrested and put in a cage like an animal, but when you accuse them, best case scenario it will take years.
Crypto still won't change much, because if they won't be able to seize it, they will take everything else instead, including your freedom.

Unfortunately some people also use these services for illegal activities. A problem that is plagued by every technology created out there, including the internet. You cannot close down the internet, because some people use it for crime, and the same goes for mixer services.

I seriously don't mind Bitcoin itself, or mixing services being used in combination with illicit activities. Why do I not mind? Because there is nothing that you can do about it. If we are going to have moral problems because criminals are making use of the same tools that we use, what on this planet is there left for us (non criminals) to use? People should seriously drop this nonsense and mind their own business.

There seems to be a global clamp down on mixer services and more so in Europe. How will this service be able to keep it's doors open for business? We know that we use these services to compliment our security and anonymity to protect our financial privacy, something that is lacking in the Bitcoin protocol, because it only provides pseudo-anonymity.

Hey bL4nkcode, thanks for the share. Good feedback about Chipmixer. Just one comment though, on the first sentence. "It is commonly misconstruction that Bitcoin is an unidentified currency". Should the better word be misconception? Just by .2BTC. Nevertheless, everything looks good. Smiley

Neither of you are correct. The word you're looking for is "misconstrued."

Certainly after Bitmixer closing down the second best option for people would be Chipmixer, are you guys taking the steps needed to protect yourselves

From what happened to them? because I don't believe a hard fork or their public statement be the real reason for shutting down their service, I think

They were compromised personally, you'll need to work to stay hidden from any possible looking party, as they might be looking for you as well.

Bitmixer closing its services was quite unexpected. They gave several reasons which for me doesn't make sense. I believed there are more explanation behind the closing, but I doubt Bitmixer will divulge it for now. And he even gave a stern warning for other mixing services and I'm sure Chipmixer is doing everything so that they will not suffer the same fate as Bitmixer.

Upon closing the service made by Bitmixer, I made some review for the services that are completely different in mixing using Chipmixer, I made it on my site here http://bl4nkcode.info/bitcoin/what_is_chipmixer hope you guys like it Cheesy

The closing of Bitmixer will certainly help Chipmixer business wise. I'm sure that users of BM are looking for alternatives now, and look no further, because Chipmixer is the best option now and probably be taking over the reigns of BM. Goodluck Chipmixer.

Of course, I actually agree with you. I am just mentioning this here to have an official word by ChipMixer, as obvious as we might think it could be. But I actually disagree with the reason BitMixer claim to have shut down for.

Sorry for the confusion. My post wasn't in reference to you but rather BitMixer and how their argument made no sense (basically confirming we're on the same page here), Smiley.

BitMixer, a mixing service like ChipMixer, closed stating arguments such as mixing being detrimental to Bitcoin and illegal or dark market transactions being cause for much criticism of Bitcoin. They also stated that the privacy and anonymity go against Bitcoin's own design. This brings questions to ChipMixer's stance on this. I assume that these beliefs are not held by ChipMixer and that there are no plans at all to suspend the service, but some clarification would always be nice to have.

I've never understood that argument. The most commonly used method of purchasing illegal things? Cash. Dollar bills. This whole attack on crypto because it's "used illegally" is beyond ridiculous.

That's not a thing that actually happens.  People don't just change their mind to something completely irrational overnight.  If you ask me, there are two things that could have happened to Bitmixer:

1.  Having made lots of profit over the years, they've decided to quit while they're ahead and take their money before services like theirs start getting regulated.

2.  They're under direct threat from a government to close down their service.

Anyway, let's just hope that the run to the mixer is as dramatic as the run to the signature campaign.

This would actually make sense. However, what bothers me about this being the real reason is that there were probably better ways to close down the service than claiming that similar services hurt bitcoin and promote illegal activity. It seems like they were actually trying to make some sort of a statement.

This sounds like an awesome idea. Are these chips then able to be used for gambling? I'm a bit new to btc but interested in learning more about this service you're offering. Good luck!

Btw wth? That's a lot of fucking moneyyyyy.

After being a major mixing service for over 2 years, they would change their stance in regards to privacy after closing as if they haven't profit from it. Also, I don't buy bitcoin's anonymity and privacy being "detrimental" to its own development since it's one of the good reasons why people use it. I know that dark market transactions and shady stuff happen but again, every thing that you can be traded to some valuable object (like fiat and gold) are being used illegally too, bitcoin being the hot issue since it's a relatively new asset compared to the two. Besides, why do people don't doubt fiat and gold? Oh I know! Because the good 'old government  is regulating and handling it.

Does anyone know if ChipMixer will be affected by the potential fork? Will they halt all mixing for any period of time before or after Aug 1?

I personally will probably not mix any near that date just to be safe, but if anyone knows of implications of doing so, please share.
This is the third time someone is asking this. Please check the last few pages before making questions that already have been answered before.

Aug 1 / BIP148 is coming in 15 days. ChipMixer will closed a day before Aug 1 till situation get stable.

What does it mean for you?

If you have withdrawn chips (private keys) - you can spend them any time you want, even when ChipMixer is closed. If hardfork happen, your funds will be spendable on both forks.
If you have unspent voucher(s) - redeem them for private key before or wait till we reopen. Same if you need to mix some coins.

In case of doubt, redeem and sweep before Aug 1.

Does ChipMixer support BIP148/BIP149/Segwit/Segwitx2/others?

No. We focus on privacy and Segwit does not give us anything related to privacy. Hardfork means lack of stability and loss of Bitcoin value.
