 After five days of storm-like announcements, there seems to be a break in the weather. We’re in the eye of the storm. Today we have a calm, yet significant update on ION Core.
  
 The ION “Core” Team is the hub of the ionomy Power Grid, and ION is the calm center around which so much activity revolves. Today, ionomy acknowledges and thanks the developers who maintain and improve IONcoin.

Decentralization of ION Core continues

 The ionomy Team initially had considerable overlap with the coin development team. As both ionomy and ION have matured, developers in the community have stepped up to assume independent responsibility and initiative in ION coin development. The resulting team has proven itself more than capable.
  
 In recognition of the team’s ability and the importance of decentralization, the official ION code repository (“repo”) is now also decentralized and resides under the care of Core.  In the coming weeks the core code will migrate to its permanent location at https://github.com/ioncoincore.

  
 The ION repo features one of the most active gits in digital currency. New developers continue to join the ION developer community, attracted by opportunities to make valuable contributions and earn handsome bounties in the company of an exciting developer community.

To be fair to paycoiners - online leaderboards are notoriously tricky and this whole tournament nonsense shouldn't have been even attempted before they grasp all the possible ways it can be cheated.

Think about it - any data submitted to the server can be spoofed. Whether its a single score number, or timing data at certain checkpoints, or even encrypted - anything can be faked, including encryption keys can be extracted from the app, as long as the same data always yields the same score.

Granted - as you're saying - they probably just send a single number and it's a relatively easy "hack" for 500 ION (which kind of begs the question - how do they know that "kris" is not cheating?) and yes, they could easily make it sufficiently complicated so that the payoff is not worth it, although that kind defeats their attempt to get more games and more money flowing through the tournaments.

Or they could go hard core and randomize the levels based on a server-issued seed and then verify every friggin move server-side to make sure the player was actually able to pass the level. There is probably a way to turn this into a proof-of-playing consensus algo and tie it to the ION blockchain... yes, I'm laughing as I'm typing this - fat chance of that happening, what with the shitcloning skills this "team" has.

Instead they choose to cull the leaderboard manually for six months and then have the audacity to advertise it as a service. That's the paycoining way. That's the main reason they will keep stumbling as they have for years.

i think basically ion with stakers isnt making much money. its too hard to make games for their gaming coin so now they want to run a web exchange. they probably bought a script for bitcoin and think its easy because well fees right? and if they run an exchange they dont have to do bots anymore to keep price up... they can just fuck with the figures for free! adam matlacks strategic genius has him thinking if i raise price on our exchange then bittrex will go up and we can make money mwhahaha... not that simple bro.

my guess is scoreboard spoofing was easy. some jailbroken phone prob modified the running game variable for score. they do no validation o shit look high score. pretty easy to secure.... judge max points a level over max time... flag shit and ignore if it exceeds that boundary. clearly matlack isnt too much of a strategist though...... amateurs

Hordes of game developers must be tripping over each other to sign up for this "service" so that they could give money away to cheaters and/or rely on ionomy's state-of-the-art manual reconciliation process (aka "remove non-paycoiner-slacker usernames from the leaderboard"). This would scale wonderfully to 2, maybe even 3 games, up to 50 players each.

So the bet here is that DASHers are about as dumb as paycoiners and will be lining up to send $200k worth of coins to someone else for "masternode hosting".

Well, I guess we should never underestimate the stupidity that comes with greed.
