even though the choice of words in the previous post is a bit over the top, srry jenifive, but on the other side very much understandable for users to react like this. We would like to sustain the previous post with some numbers on our latest error rates:
On 100 orders to be placed:
17 Eservice unavailables
5 Eservice: Busy
Total calls 100 + 17 + 5 = 122

Eservice unavailables: 17 /122*100%= 13.93%  (previous 4.63%%)
Eservice Busy: 5 /122*100%= 4.10%  (Previous 2.78%)
67/122 Unknowns aka 54.92% of total calls  (Previous44.44%) - (roughly 80% of the unknowns were not placed, we would need to take a closer look at our logs to preset exact data here)

Total error rate = (17 + 5 + 67)/122*100% = 72.95% (surely NOT an improvement from previous Tot. error = 51.85%)

Aka Service close to non-existing

Update on error rates which we sometimes post here:

On 100 orders to be placed:
5 Eservice unavailables
3 Eservice: Busy (Kraken's new we dont have the capacity to offer decent service type of error?)
Total calls 100 + 5 + 3 = 108

Eservice unavailables: 5/108*100%= 4.63%  (previous 40.84%)
Eservice Busy: 3/108*100%= 2.78%  (Previous 33.21%)
48/108 Unknowns aka 44.44% of total calls

Total error rate = (5 + 3 + 48)/108*100% = 51.85% (surely an improvement from previous Tot. error = 83.21%)

So, we have less Eservice unavailables and Eservice Busy errors, however the percentage of calls leading to the unknown order type have increased. And let's be honest. An error rate of over 50% is unacceptable, even more when it has to be presented as improvement to the previous published error data.

There's so much difference in price for BTC between Kraken & other platforms now.. Kraken lists it 200eur lower.

Proof that it has to do with their engine being broken: I placed a buy order at 6060eur (by miracle, no error), while there was clearly enough at 6060 in the order book. Yet it took over a minute to pass. The price goes down artificially because people can't buy.



Yeah i have noticed the price difference and swings also.  This can happen though and other day i got a better price at kraken on a sale vs other exchanges so got to take the rough with the smooth.  Agree if the trade engine was faster it would help.

Yeah if you really placed 1 order and it got there twice, that's new.

Perhaps it has happened before and we didn't notice it, assuming it was one of the erratic orders that passed. Hard to know, since it's rare for the first order placement to succeed.


I agree, it is rare that orders directly succeed in being placed in a single call.
We have a very specific log, and in a few cases there were orders which went through without having to use additional calls, still the orders were placed twice. So, we are very sure that double placement was not caused by additional calls for those orders, but that double placement was caused by an error on Kraken's side. Atm, it seems though that we do not have this issue anymore today.

I have been unable to add a new withdrawal wallet to my Kraken account. I need to withdraw my funds from the exchange. I have constantly tried to add a new wallet for a couple days but all I keep getting when I confirm in my email is " Could not approve withdrawal The withdrawal approval code is invalid or has expired." I have submitted a request but I fear I will not get a response so I felt the need to post here in hopes someone from Kraken will see my issue and help me. Request number (838187) is the request I filed and would greatly appreciate a response.

Just an update to my situation, I did get a response from Kraken Support about my request and I was able to successfully add a new withdrawal wallet and successfully withdraw my funds. I truly do thank Kraken for the speedy response and assistance.

Dude, it's not new, it has been like that for 2 months. I've warned their support that it was 101% sure that this would happen to every new user. Once you know, you adapt and you cancel (& you rage when it fails to cancel & processes the order).

Dude, or whatever, in the long time using Kraken, we assumed to have encountered every possible error which can happen, from orders not being traded eve though their limit was passed to having issues what happened to your orders. We even developed a particular Kraken place & check order system to have it automated. I still would be writing tomorrow when trying to list all the different errors encountered.

However, that a single call leads to 2 placements (exact same) was not encountered by us before. And for your info. We've seen sufficient accidental placements leading to double placements due to EService unavailable, or EService Busy, to not know what happened to your order. We know what they look like. But this, NO

I can't understand how kraken, one of the biggest and must trusted exchange can not develop a simple and easy to use trading platform, unbelievable.

Verified. Kraken currently places your orders twice.
@Kraken: Please close your servers ASAP until the problem is fixed. Furthermore, are you going to refund double placements caused by your system. Several orders were placed twice while only having send a single placement call?

When I sign up with Kraken, I did that because of their strict security and audited website. I am Tier 3 verified, and the process was quick and smooth. Transfering fiat to my account also works like a charm. Being Tier 3 verified also lets me withdraw a good chunk of money per day, which can be a problem with other exchanges.

But...having used the exchange now for a while, I can safely say there is three things I really dislike:

- the interface is abysmal
- bad communication to the customers when shit hits the fan
- and most importantly, the downtimes when critical market events happen

The last one is simply not tolerable. I wanted sell BTC when it peaked yesterday, but simply couldnt. No service, site dead. It´s really really bad.

So yeah. Time to move on

Money often costs too much.
I got over $400,000 used in marin with a $9,000 profit. Yet I can't connect to the site to close my position...
About trades with leverage there are small signs popping up that Kraken might face a class action lawsuit from disgruntled users.
I would not participate into such something, but I didn't got burned that hefty. Just withdrawn everything, letting Kraken rest in peace.

well yes , yesterday my kraken account was compromised , hackers got access to my email address , but i hope i was fast enough to change the password.

yesterday kraken webiste was extremely slow , and many times i got timeout error , but i was able to change kraken account password , but by that time hackers was able to add two factor authentication so now even if i change the password unable to log in , to bypass two factor authentication i must write to support ,

hackers was in my kraken account about 15 mins, but as i said , website was extremely slow.  i have not received any more emails (that bitcoin withdrawal address has been added ,or withdrawal initiated ) , the only think that im afraid of is API keys , is hackers was able to generate API keys what they can do with it ??  can they exchange 14k euros to bitcoin and withdraw ? (even then they must add new bitcoin address and confirm it trough email) this also needed via API control ? i have never used API in the past and and know very little about it.

Hi justas696661. If you haven't already please open a ticket and here. Please indicate in the subject that you have been hacked and escalate that ticket using this form.

Just to provide an impartial review of my experience:

New to kraken. Transferred money. Needed more verification which was my error. Contacted support. WOW!!! Fastest support ever. Really needs to be mentioned. I've never experienced such great customer support. Multiple emails all answered in less than an hour. Verified and money released extemely fast.

Yes, the website has been a bit slow and accessing it a few days ago was near impossible. But these things happen and yes it is something that has to be worked on. What I care about is customer support though and that my money is safe and that if I have any issue or a question I know it can be resolved fast. That's what matters most. What use is a website that works fast that if you have withdrawal issues or your money isn't safe or you can't get support to get verified etc.

I can see how some of you are annoyed with Kraken's shortcomings but in terms of customer support my experience has been very impressive. Try contacting Coinbase to resolve an issue and you'll wait a week for a useless copy/paste.

Have you made sure you are logged into Kraken before clicking the confirmation email?
Perhaps give that a shot if you haven't already

Yeah I have had a lot of time to get creative over the past few days. I have made sure I was logged into Kraken and the email at the same time. It said in the email that the link was good for one hour so I have even tried waiting at different time intervals to click the confirmation link, 5min, 10min, 20min, 30min, 45min and 60min all to no avail. Tied about everything I could think of, thx though for the response. I will keep the forum updated on the progress.
