I was thinking about the N-refactor earlier today...

If the number of miners stays approximately the same, and the effective hashrate reduces due to the N-refactor, the diff should go DOWN, right?

Yes.  It tends to happen on every Nfactor change.

Why is diff slowing creeping upwards monotonically?  Just more people mining or is it part of the protocol?

Hm, I didnt notice that yet. Indeed, it looks like it is increasing exponential.

Miners will earn less coins, but the coin is likely to get a higher value now

Its just more and more people mining.
I mine from the beginning and watched all the ups and lows, diff retarget works nice.

yeah, it is the nFactor that will be noticable.

http://162.243.14.162/faucet.php will be shut down on Sunday Feb 16.
If anyone anyone donates to the faucet I will leave it up longer.

Thank you to all who contributed.
How big of a donation would be needed?

So when is micro going on coinedup?

Hopefully soon.  We got another mention on holynerdvana..  I think a lot of people read that guy's blog, because after he wrote a VTC article the hashrate quadrupled the next day.

Exponential growth is always slow and steady before the 'storm' Wink

I was wondering the same thing, the increase is so slow and steady and I haven't seen it go down at all that it does seem to be almost artificial.

If you don't have another computer you could try to create a virtual machine with a brand new windows 7 for example and install the wallet there.

I have the same problem so i have my wallet on a virtual machine, but i can make backups of the wallet.dat wherever i wan't.

For sure, I assume you are pool mining? Just have the pool payout the the wallet of your choice. Can be anywhere.

Been searching and searching without finding so I guess I'll throw myself to the sharks and ask what has most likely already been asked:

Did anyone encounter microcoin.exe crash on the very first launch? I literally downloaded the wallet a few hours ago and followed the not so advance readme file. But when I try to launch either microcoin.exe or microcoin_old_port444.exe it just says "microcoin.exe has stopped working".

What to do?
Check can you start it without .conf file. Maybe you have something wrong there.
Fail type in conf file is most common reason for crash.

Tried to delete it, tried to delete entire folder, tried to uninstall some programs. I had the same problem with Yacoin, but I managed to solve it by downloading an old wallet of theirs, and run "yacoind.exe" (DOS server) which populated the folder in /appdata/ with wallet.dat etc. After that the new Yacoin wallet worked.

But Microcoin does not.

Here's from debug.log

Code:
microCoin version v1.1.1.0-gunit-beta (187)
Using OpenSSL version OpenSSL 1.0.1e 11 Feb 2013
Startup time: 02/13/14 10:35:30

Default data directory C:\Users\arch\AppData\Roaming\microCoin
Used data directory C:\Users\arch\AppData\Roaming\microCoin
dbenv.open LogDir=C:\Users\arch\AppData\Roaming\microCoin\database ErrorFile=C:\Users\arch\AppData\Roaming\microCoin\db.log
Bound to [::]:3232
Bound to 0.0.0.0:3232
Loading block index...

And crashmessage from both yacoin and microcoin

Could be a problem with DEP.

try Start --> Run --> CMD (as admin) and enter:

bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOff

Reboot the PC an test again.

Thanks for the tip, didn't work though.

Is it possible to run the wallet on a separate computer and mine on my main?
