Announcing Gemlock-DNS

Gemlock-dns is the first part of our gemlock security suite, and is the result of an outstanding partnership with altcoin.center.

We are excited to announce that we now have dns-protocol security for opal wallets, and soon you will be able to automatically check the integrity of your wallet, from your wallet.

Read more here: http://www.opal-coin.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/gemlock-dns.pdf

Tomorrow will be the second Gemlock suite announcement.

So I heard something about this thing called Gemlock DNS... read more about it here.

If anyone can submit that article to Reddit at some point, it would be much appreciated!

oh yeah, looking good  Grin

Good to hear that - and I agree... Grin

I'll try and finish with defining the details of the system today. It's quite basic stuff but as with everything, careful planning & design is still worth the time and energy they take.

Updated ETA for version 1.0 of the Gemlock-DNS whitepaper is 2015-01-01. Wink

I've probably mentioned it before, but I'm really loving that the Opal team sees the value in partnerships and cooperation, that is something I feel is missing a lot in the crypto scene!

How do you propose to defend users from their own stupidity next time?

This.

... and they work to find solutions to everything. Smiley Great work Opal and Altcoin.centre!

These guys are fucking mad lol, they keep on implementing and fixing lol. Can't wait to see what we get in 2015.

<3 opal

Ya and the most hilarious part about it all is that this coin is still severly heavily undervalued big time!!! It should at the least be over 10k a coin by now with all that the OPALTEAM has put out there for this coin and how much better it just keeps getting for OPAL

[Very well done. Smiley So when can we test this out?

Thanks! =)

You can try it out right away - the DNS systems of both Opal-Coin.com and Altcoin.Center have been configured to provide the correct check sums.

Instructions for OS X and Windows coming up! =)

Ignore my comments on Comodo firewall i experienced issues due to the security suite (FW+AV+Help+Browser): and for the issue with comodo firewall, it came from the trial version of MBAM or Comodo Firewall, so it was just a MBAM/Comodo firewall setting issue.
Ok, comodo is a great firewall, maybe the best one for people who knows how to set it. But it is not the best public protection in the world (tools like BSK Crypter and more generally the Metasploit framework can bypass standard/half-advanced Comodo (and others firewalls) settings): the best protection must involve user's web behaviour. Especially when the user is not an expert.

My last purpose was to educate people who dont know the basics and the rules of the Internet. Smiley

What i want to say is that even if you know everything about the security, any rules of internet, everytime you need a firewall and HIPS.

BSK crypter was a old crypter, no proof or vouch about the comodo bypass option even if i saw the youtube video (anyway when you expose a vulnerability in a firewall (especially in comodo) it's directly patched) and this crypter is dead, i think to know why  Cheesy
I didn't see anything about metasploit and the comodo HIPS (or too old maybe), and the comodo FW exploit is old.

In all cases, bypassing comodo + HIPS using metasploit with a private exploit is reserved for people who really don't care about some OPAL coin, i can tell you that Smiley

And i think it's better to forget this problem because we can't do anything better than learn the security and only learn the security, not the rules, because there is no rule on internet, but i understand what do you say and it's also true.
We can break all the rules, learn how works Firewall+HIPS, is what the people need at the moment, because nothing is better for them, they need to learn all stuff at school, they will in the future.

OPAL Team may remove the warning?
