If we don't have any major stability issues why aren't we on some more exchanges?

Why are we worrying what Polinex does?

I see low level bitcoin clones come out very day and a week later they are on BTER and Cryptsy. Is Qora reallyl that much of a risk?

Busoni froze Qora because he saw something strange happening in the blockchain with a Sharexcoin deposit. Was probably caused by Zip being too busy scamming people to have time to update to v8. Anyways it was a good decision even though there is most likely nothing wrong. He's just being pro-active. The same kind of pro-activeness that caused him to freeze the scammer's account. Effectively saving a percentage of the stolen funds from disappearing into the scoundrel's pockets

He is waiting for a confirmation from our dev in order to resume trading. Our dev meanwhile is probably sorting through endless DATA folders just to make sure everything is indeed ok. So once qora is done triple checking trading will be resumed.

(or thats what I understood from the last 20 pages)

Might it be an idea to just increase the transaction fee for the moment? Since ultimately it is the possible reward that will get people to stake. NXT has 1 billion coins and a fee of 1, we have 10 billion and a fee of one. Perhaps a fee of 10 makes more sense.

Or a fee that is somehow connected with the USD market cap. (Both BTC and LTC adepted their fees according to market valuation)

Or an indirect staking subsidy to be paid out from the community fund. Two bots sending transactions back and forth in order to make staking for fees more worthwhile.

Just thinking out a loud here.

Can you break that down a bit more.

So the fork was caused by not enough people actually using Qora? Thats common with new networks right? Not really an issue with Qora itself?

What do you mean by 'Chnages' in transactions list, what should we look for, a transaction turning up that wasn't one you did personally?

It had to do with people that have QORA in their wallets NOT forging...  you need to unlock your wallets folks!   Wink

As far as the changes in the transactions list go...  you want to make sure that the listed transactions are the same as the ones you had when you first recovered plus any newer transactions you've made/received after that.  Mostly expect transactions to disappear if that ever happens...  you will never see transactions that you personally didn't send and/or transactions that people hadn't sent you specifically...  but if someone had an invalid transaction incident due to the longer fork he/she might see those appear.

If anyone sees changes in their transactions list...  they need to make sure to backup the data folder and send it to qora before they recover their wallet.

Thanks for the answers.

It was caused by not enough people unlocking their wallet to stake, which is what secures the network. You don't need everyone to stake, but at least enough to make sure 1 single person can't achieve 50% of the generating balance.

Since the rewards for staking aren't really big yet due to not much transactions happening it is understandable. Fortunately there is a bounty program for people running nodes now, so that issue is solved.

I've personally had no problems since v1!

Just make sure you don't get changes in the transactions list...  don't look only on the sync side of the things...  at this point we all need to make sure we don't get such changes.

relatively speaking is Qora unstable? What caused the fork?  Can anyone chip in with a qualified opinion and get this thread talking?

I would say Qora is very stable especially since v8...  it's just that people have been confusing matters ever since...

What happened is one entity controlled more then 50% of all the generating balance in the network and created a longer fork. (unintentionally)
This fork orphaned transactions which had been confirmed for more then 24hours causing them to become invalid.
An unconfirmed transaction automaticly becomes invalid after 24 hours and gets deleted.
The only way to make sure that this does not happen again is to use your Qora to generate blocks.

If you still get forks on version 8 and it does not want to synchronize to the longest chain please pm me your data files.

is the fork respair?

v8 has been running like a beast here...  it went out of sync once but the same transactions were listed the whole time!   Cool

I haven't had to resync/recover once since v8. If qora keeps this up things will probably be 101% stable with the next version.

V8 seems to sync really fast compared to older versions. I feel like the unstable reputation is completely undeserved. Even though I know Qora's rep for not communicating much I would really like to hear his updated estimated development timeline, if asset echnage etc is far off or around the corner etc.

Whats up with the website too? I'm not for massive marketing but i think a website is important jsut to direct people to to learn about Qora.

And whats up with Video, Dzarmush was on it, would be good to hear the progress.

Haven't kept up with this coin, does it require Java to be installed...I hate Java....

It does require Java. Its an awesome coin though so that more than makes up for that.

If you were to put your hate aside there is a giveaway, faucet, and node bounties. You could score a couple of thousand without too much effort.

@qora - any news on your project roadmap, website, new release? Are you in communication with Poloniex etc... Other than the sharex debacle, this thread is quiet,we sure could use a boost of good news.

BOUNTY

I lost 23,154,968.33 QORA to ShareXcoin and I pledge half of any portion of those funds recovered as a bounty.

I don't think that should apply to disbursement from the seized Poloniex funds or to donations.

Never back down !!!
I notice some real big idiots in this thread. If you dont like Qora ore only want to see Qora at 10 satoshi, to buy cheap and sell at 50 go to just a shitcoin where they pump and dump their coin and stay away from this thread. Qora is the only 2nd gen coin, together with NXT. It's got huge potential and we only would like people in this thread they believe in Qora and help to build it.

Thanks kindly

So if I want to buy cheap and sell high, than I am not allowed to post in this thread. Very nice.

Yep, better go before smaragda puts you on his ignore list!

And I should care about that guy because....?

There is also the SEDA-lead, someone has an IP address... it will be possible to prosecute. How about someone based in the US bring in the authorities now?

NO need for any of that...

SHe could simply freeze the trading. Re-open the exchange. Give us few days to withdraw our coins and close it again forever. If she is too ashamed to face the community, she doesn't need to say a word. Open the exchange for 1 week and disappear again. That's it that's all.

Agreed.  ziplibrary, this is your chance.
