Just a suggestion but if you are using Malwarebytes or similar it may be blocking.Also, if it's a new wallet download, try restarting the wallet.

used the addnodes made a .conf
and I have 0 active connections to the sling network,
it is allowed past the firewall,
Is there a new updated list of nodes anywhere??

Are you trying to use I2P or just clearnet? If clearnet, it should just connect / start having connections.
Clearnet, but its stuck at 5 weeks behind with 0 connections.

Also the movement and distribution of the news is good as poor Ross the owner of SilkRoad is got life sentence. Now SlingRoad is the answer for never, ever going to happen stuff like this. Nobody will take down SLINGROAD nobody will arrest nobody. Cause is nobody to arrest. Everything is decentralized and we are part of a big movement that people aren't realizing yet now. But as soon as we get the word out there, Sling will be one currency hard to buy.

As an eBay/Amazon seller (and buyer), I don't like the third party escrow system too much. Third party escrow could help but we need to build a decentalized trust system.
As a programmer, I struggle with this issue all the time. I am trying to build software related to healthcare that needs decentalized trust but just can't seem to find a viable solution without using a central authority.
Hmm, yes that post I linked explains the downsides of a third party system.
As to your problem, create a blockchain that would store medical coded data ?

I think this is a good coin and I'm staking > 5,000 with an Amazon cloud server and planning to hold. The daily payout is not bad. I think this coin is way under valued.
What do you find wrong with (6) the escrow system ? It has 2 party escrow.

The market is a great start but needs to be more functional before people use it. I am a programmer and wish I had time to contribute to this coin. I am also a seller on eBay and Amazon so I know what is needed for a functional market place.
1) Images (I can't get them to render when pointing to PhotoBucket)
2) Searching the marketplace
3) Remove empty categories
4) Seller names instead of public addresses
5) seller/buyer rating system
6) Escrow system
7) Link to seller profile in view details.
If this is helpful, I can list more functions that would attract sellers and buyers.
