Hi Dave,

Happy (belated) Thanksgiving!

I received my RMA the other day.. thanks for that! I have a slight problem though. While waiting on the RMA request, I have found 3 more H cards that are likely bad.. they drop to 0 Gh shortly after starting the rigs.

They weren't acting up like this at first, but I feel like it wasn't my fault. I have had two box fans and two 120mm fans blowing air on them, and I also have an A/C that keeps the room under 74 degrees. I also have some electrical tape holding the cards in place, so I do not think the loss in Gh is due to them wiggling free from the fans either.

I was wondering if I would be allowed to RMA these cards as well? It would certainly be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Ch

I've had this problem, and mentioned before to make 100% certain you have a VERY HIGH QUALITY PSU.  Marginal PSUs will not deliver enough amperage to the cards at the end of the chain, and cause them to fall out.

I swapped PSUs, problem was resolved and my rigs have been 100% rock solid after this.

I think most of us have already ROI'd in USD, the issue is BTC...

Yeah, but now's a great time to order a new miner. When's the next batch, Dave???

Hey guys, did you ever get a board which will not hash no matter what settings you try? I have obtained one such board. All it throws are loads of errors. I have tested the usual suspects voltage, etc.
It's a new PCIexpress style board, so I cannot bypass a chip.
I have tried disabling chips in software but the board will not hash. I tried it as a sole board connected to an Mboard.

Have two of these cards that I RMA'd.

One throws nothing but errors, and another just doesn't hash at all. Doesn't matter what slots on the mboard I throw them in.

No.  I've gotten a couple with outright dead chips, a few more with chips so bad they aren't worth running, and more than a few that like to toss MISO errors and shutdown the neighbors despite being moved to the end of the busses.  But, nothing outright dead.

Anyone want to sell any Bitfury hardware? I'll currently pay 1 BTC per H-board. I'll even consider buying ones with problems. PM me.

Hmmm 1BTC per board... Would you take 10 boards, shipping from Switzerland? I'll send you a PM.

I would offer 1BTC per board (9BTC for 10) shipped to canada. This offer is open to anyone selling.

MBP has been supplying a LOT of hardware to the 100TH 200TH 300TH 350TH? mine. to the tune of well over 10,000 H-boards

PM sent

Hi all - I'm hearing about some troubles people are having with overloaded power connectors.  Since the latest cards shipped were running a higher voltage, the rigs take quite a lot of wattage - extra caution should be taken if you are running a full 16 card rig.  I recommend upgrading to a 1200w power supply as soon as possible.  Do not locate your rig on the floor, or near anything flammable.  As always with mining rigs, check your power cables, connectors and supplies often for signs of overheating and failure.

Please be safe!

We are making changes for future boards that will either run them at lower voltage or provide additional power connections.

Cheers
Dave

[EDIT]  I'm told these users may have powered their rigs using the 1 to 2 plug on a single PCIe cable.  This is a common mistake I've been warning about.  Please note - you *must* use two separate power cables from the PSU to each of the 6-pin power plugs on the M-board.

Dave,

What is the status of refunds?

If anyone is also waiting on a refund from Dave please pm me.

Thanks,

Dave haunts other threads if you want to see what he's up to.

Oh, I figured I should mention that there are more than one version of the v3 M-board and the v2 h-boards.  The two different M-Board versions I have seen seem to have trade offs.  But, I would take the Pulse inductor H-board over the no-name inductor one in a heartbeat, despite the pots being harder to tune.

Point being, you can't necessarily go off what other people are saying about their equipment.  IE:  PCIe slot stiffness, available terminals, what position to set the pot, etc...

FYI:  My PCIe cables are at 94 F on a full rig with individual runs back to the PS.  Another way to draw a little more load away from the PCIe cables is to use the molex connectors on your PS for your 12v fans.  But, this only buys you a few watts.

I'm in California US, and would prefer to avoid international shipping and import taxes. So I'm going to hold out for other offers for now.

wait, why?! it's borderline breakeven. actually by the time you get it you likely won't ROI

(sorry, actually just really curious. i can understand maybe using fiat but hmm?)

I'm gambling that the growth in network hashrate will slow before these become unprofitable for me.

I hope this isnt a dumb question, but can the board be powered by only 1 PCI-E connector? I have only 1 board, likely using a lot less than 100W, so i want to use a connector on other hardware instead. I just wanted to see if the 2 plugs are linked together or if not powering one of them would create issues

Yes, but once you get to where that board is half full (or more), you'll need to spread the current over more conductors (use the other connector).
