Sad to say but it looks like the fudders are winning right now with former investors dumping like crazy. All alts are down but this is even downer. Can we estimate when something solid will be released to quieten these fudsters? Days / weeks / months?

Nothing has really happened. My understanding is the Devs in general are late with updates, mainly because they have other real life concerns and are seemingly working on this project for free at the moment. So v 1.4 being late isn't a concern to me at all, especially since the main dev has explained his week long absence on the Discord channel.

The price drop seems to be in large part because of the above linked forum post calling XSpec a scam, and then using only a few lines of code to prove their point. What bothers me most is that while the code may be simpler than we expected, the devs aren't making off with millions of dollars of investors funds. THIS IS NOT A SCAM! It may not be the privacy changing coin we all expected, but to call it a "scam" is idiotic. A poor project would be much better English than calling it a scam, although I think the project is fine.

Personally I don't mind the FUD because I've been able to quadruple my XSpec holdings this weekend alone. The project is fine--stop letting price changes over short periods change your opinions. (Or keep panic selling to me, that's fine too!)

they are not working for free...they get about 6000 euros a month in donations. And they are supposedly working full time, but the github commits from last year doesn't reflect that. Yes there sooo many commits but if you look a bit into them other the the tor integration there is absolutely nothing! And even the tor integration has the firefox binaries just copied over. It's not a native one like advertised. So what have they been doing with all this time? Jesus, do you realize what two full time devs can accomplish in 1 year?

Doesn't change the fact that. Xspec is still here!
It's not going away.
And it's one of the best low priced privacy coins on the market.

correction: shadowcoin is still here. Xspec is shadowcoin with 1 dodgy guy that tries to convince us that there are two full time developers working on the project, while taking donations from everybody.

I'll eat my words when these two developers finally deliver some code that is more then a UI update or library upgrade.

Aaand in the meantime crypto marches on.
As does Xspec.

If you don't like it get out already.
In the meantime am accumulating cheap coins.
All this news is healthy for Xspec.

Let those. Who can't handle it leave.
The rest of us know where this ship is going and we are staying put.
No hard feelings.

Yes, that's the key = "crypto marches on"...
It's shitcoins and messy and shady and volatile and opaque...
But people that grasped the fundamental value early or even as late as 2015-16 are doing great.

A lot of the whining is equivalent to rambling on about tulips...
Inability to fully grasp that one is dealing with cryptographic networks, not stocks or corporations...
That every coin is a network that derives real value from Metcalfe's Law...
And soon enough all 1000 alts will be easily interlinked with standard protocols...
So coins are not "going to zero".... on the contrary, value multipliers are in the pipeline Smiley

But what happened if not?

It's just plain wrong to call XSPEC a scam. This is a serious project but we have had to pull through a lot of criticism and FUD to get to where we are. We have a very strong community and everyone knows that this is a major part of driving the project forward. The team is working on the next release and it will be out. I believe the best way to answer all the FUD is not to be drawn into discussion but to keep releasing the software and make it count.

Hey mandica, welcome back on the scene!  Cool

I'm not going to oppose any of the FUD because I like it. I hope the price will go down to 30 cents again so I can buy another 100k.  Grin  Remember guys, blockchains don't die with the developers. All of this FUD is about Jbg, but that is missing the point completely. He's just our core developer at the moment (and personally I don't think that he's been doing a bad job so far), but that doesn't mean that there won't be any additional devs in the future. Think long-term, we will together make this project succeed eventually.  Smiley

If you invest in a blockchain, you should invest into the project core and the people holding a stake in it, who are interested in making it succeed.

You are right, blockchain is blockchain, dev is dev.
However, without the effort of the dev, the coin is just dead.

Hear! Hear!
I totally agree. Most who are committed to Xspec did some kind of research before hand.

Despite the current criticisms we appreciate jbg's input and presence so long as he remains.

We also know that Xspec is a great project and the future of any great project relies as much on its community as it does on the Dev.

Those who are shaken out by current "news" and "revelations" didn't really do their due diligence before they came on board, or they invested more than they could afford to invest.

I think they need to be shaken out for their own peace of mind.

But some of us see the crazy potential in Xspec.

Xspec is here to stay kiddo.

Sorry to disappoint the naysayers.

@koko - what a ridiculous statement.....the man has a life....the coin has been developing since last year.
If every project that released a little later was  scam there would be very few of them.
I wouldn't hold my breath waiting on the project to die.....just isn't going to happen.
The haters have reached a new level.LOL

Every day passing without 1.4 release is another confirmation this is a scam.
It is not fud, all accusations are documented. The silence of the dev is yet another confirmation of it all.

Hope this will die soon so people can focus on real projects.

You are being conned by the fudders. Do you really think they are here just to make the world a better place, or is it more likely that do they have some alterior motives to simply smear a project for their own financial benefit?

Projects have delays. Full stop.

Counting lines of code as proxy for effort put in, is blatantly misleading. Every heard of E=mc2 ? Three letters and a number, but what a huge difference this made.

Even small code changes can have significant impact. And recognizing the simplicity of a solution after finding does not have anything to do with the effort it takes to find the solution in the first instance. Finding a bug is a good example : it might require nothing but changing a comma, but finding the bug and determining the most simple solution might take days.

People shouting scam have no idea about the history or what lies behind. They just use superficial arguments to paint a negative picture, and to push their narratives on gullible people.

There appears to be a lot of FUD appearing in altcoin discussions and unfortunately people are starting to believe it due to the open source nature of github, and the fact that there are few commits and they offer very little in terms of actual development. My knowledge is limited so perhaps someone here can post a supportive explanation on this thread: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/proof-that-xspec-is-a-scam-3055715

It is a really hard time, again, for XSPEC. Hmm?
A lot of FUD around and no response from dev make the case worse.

Can we have another bottom at 2000-3000 satoshi, soon? Jesus!

yes, xspec is dying, intense fud ...

Nothing and nobody is dying here. People who fall for the fudding have no interest in learning about the project in full, but already have a preconceived, un-validated notion which they seek confirmation for. If you join the Discord channel, you can assess for yourself how exciting this project is and how an enthusiastic community it has.

Also, think about it this way: what's the objective of the fudder to either create an account just to trash XSPEC or to spend an exorbitant amount of time building a misleading narrative based on a few chosen points, and without ever considering the full picture? Do you really think they have altruistic intentions, wanting nothing else than to better the world? Or do you think they are doing this since they get some personal reward (or pleasure) from trying to trash a project? Isn't it more likely that they have holdings in another privacy coin, and fear the growing, unstoppable competition from XSPEC?

I'm not an Anti-XSPEC, i love the features and it has potential on crypto market. but, they are lacking with their marketing skill.

BTW. I am Hodler of Deeponion, XSPEC, Verge, and other altcoins who has TOR features.
