In BTCz we trust. Organic slow growth.
Releasing new version of VoteCoin (both CLI and GUI wallets) v2.0.2
Since this release, sapling addresses are used by default (voting still uses sprout main address though)
Notable changes:

- Add Sapling support to RPC z_mergetoaddress
- Mitigate transaction expiry height related DoS vector
- Return Sapling addresses by default when calling RPC z_getnewaddress
- Add Sapling spend and output description benchmarks to RPC zcbenchmark
- Fix bug with Sapling chain value tracking
- Fix encoding bug with non-ASCII parameter paths, primarily affecting Windows
- Backport from upstream the relaying of blocks when pruning
- Don’t ban peers when loading pre-Sapling blocks during syncing
- Fix bug with contents of default memo in Sapling

Great work Tom.

Can you please elaborate on the sapling and why it was important to implement? Thank you!

Also if you could let us know if VOT is on any mobile wallet so I can finally move my coins off an exchange and into my own mobile wallet.

Now already two weeks of new year past.
Could Tomas-M disclose further plans of VOT project development? New features? New releases?
GUI-wallet is still far from perfect

Agreed. As an early investor and long term miner (who has never sold a single VOT) I am very interested in this project specifically because of Tom's experience, background and long history on github. I do think this is a very promising project specially with its ability to allow anyone to run a paid VOTE that could be used for gambling on sports or other events where laws allow such thing.

After the update on Windows 10  everything seems to work, I think you can update.

Update required?

Not mandatory if you already have done the original sapling update. But its quite a few enhancements and default sapling addresses are a good thing, makes privacy the forefront unless voting. I would recommend updating.

I had no idea that extortion is the new business plan for exchanges. Wait, and DigitalPrice claims to be a DEX? WTF?

May I suggest to check out the Blocknet? It's unlikely VOT is compatible at this time but at least it's free to apply: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScgW8lm9qwPf1pP3ROlydU410kGG9XQzhI5NwgMF8GuRtGQfg/viewform

Votecoin is to be delisted from digital price exchange

Got official word from Dev, regarding DigitalPrice exchange VOT wallet being down on maintenance since last sapling update.

"I can see, they requested $300 for that

I just wrote them an email we're not going to pay for that, upgrading the wallet is a 5 minute work

If digitalprice is not going to update the wallet, they should at least give users the private keys for their wallet addresses - so a person can safely import his deposit to his wallet back (and send it to a new address himself)"

Dev obviously realizes they are a business and have a bottom line and vot is a super low volume coin. But tradesatoshi and cratex exchanges updated without asking for anything. He is looking for community Input. Post thoughts in chat channels.

Thanks everyone.

No news is great news
This is just for information, there are currently no news in VoteCoin, since we are waiting for implementation of z_exportViewingKey RPC call in the zcash core. As soon as this is implemented, we will backport it to VoteCoin and continue our work to switch all polls to the new sapling format.
As of our understanding, z_exportViewingKey is not yet supported in zcash 2.0.2 so it may be few more months before this happens.

A little correction: No News - Not Bad News  Wink
Anyway it's great that you keep up the thread.
VOT wallet works, blockexplorer too.
Our task is just hold and will be rewarded further. Waiting for bull market in crypto...

In the GUI Wallet, click Settings and scroll down to see log. You can try to find out what is the problem from messages there.
If there is no clue, close the wallet and try to find peers.dat file (it is in \resources\app\VoteCoin\peers.dat)
Erase this file and start the wallet again. Could help.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that the buttons on the left side of the GUI are unclickable. The mouse changes to the hand with the index finger pointing out when I scroll over them, but nothing happens when I click on them. As for the peers.dat file, there is none. The only files inside of \resources\app\VoteCoin are .lock, debug.log, and votecoin.conf. I used file explorers search function to further search for peers.dat in all of the votecoin folders, but no luck.

Please post in the #help section in votecoin discord, someone maybe able to help you sort out your issues.
