There's more complaints about the stock S5 fan noise than the C1 fan noise.  Not the same fan?

Not the same fan. The S5 is the same as the S4's, the C1 is the same as the S3's.

Wonder if the S5 fans have the same bolt pattern as those on the C1.  Summer coming and better cooling might be good.

Do you mean 'square' spacing? If so yes, they're both industry standard '120mm' fans.

How about new, improved firmware for your S5s?

Our dear member smit1237 issued another custom FW, this time for S5.  Cheesy

It contains a database and some graphs. The database contains info about:

1) Speed of the fans #1 and #2;
2) Hashrate (5s and Avg);
3) Curent temperature of both blades.

The data is being collected to DB (it's a ring database, the depth of data is one year) once once per minute and then being averaged. You are able then to "rewind" the data (on the miner or on another PC) by some manipulations in the script and show to someone (look for youself) the status of S5 at that date. So you can prove/check that the miner you are trying to buy/sell was OK and is OK.

There are also 3 graphs (for the day, for the month and for the year) that you can see by following the link "http:///cgi-bin/graph.rrd".

What else? Cgminer v4.9.0, text redactor "nano" are also included.

The firmware itself is here: http://smit1237.asuscomm.com:8080/s5/SD-S5-20150107_cgminer_4.9.0_freq_control_nano_graph.tar.gz

You can flash it in usual way.

Do not forget to send some tips to smit1237 for his enthusiasm.  Wink

I never saw the market so dead. Usually someone is selling something. I really thought we would see more S5's hit the market. Apparently he still has more C1's in stock because you can still buy them. They weren't so "good" when you had to end up replacing all the water cooling parts in 2-3 month's. Just added expense and never to break even with those. No wonder why they're still up for grabs. At 800 watts anyway, who wants em.

people were selling used, but folks were waiting for bargains that so far were not forthcoming.
We shall see.

So would two of these high static fans in a push/pull be sufficient enough to keep an S5 cool?

http://www.corsair.com/en/air-series-sp120-high-performance-edition-high-static-pressure-120mm-fan

I have heard these fans, even the quiet model one are great fans for cooling heatsinks.

Yes, its what I recommend.

I understand with these fans an S5 will run quiet and cool.  Will the stock fans run equally cool albeit louder?

Stock will likely still be cooler as its just a crazy amount of cooling. The advantage of SP120s is they are much quieter while still keeping the S5 in an acceptable temp range at most ambient temps.

So would you use 2 SP120's in a push-pull?
I currently run an s5 with 2 Noctua NF-F12 iPPC 3000rpm fans in push-pull, would the SP120s provide better performance?

That's my recommendation. NF-F12s will run cooler but will be quite a bit louder.

Dogie, you just recommended the SP120's just a couple pages back. I don't get it?

SP120s are a better balance of noise and performance. F12s are louder fans, even if they do move a bit more air.

I had a chance to test both the NF-F12s and SP120s and while it is true that the F12s are a bit noisier and 50% more expensive than the SP120s, they are much better at cooling.
Here's my test of them: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/noctua-nf-f12-ippc-3000-pwm-vs-corsair-sp120-pwm-on-antminer-s5-974503

For the Bitmain team:
Is there any chance of having a page for network traffic stats in the next firmware update.
How much TX and RX data for a day, week or total TX and RX.

Its unlikely this will ever get done even if its useful as there are lots of things still to do higher on the priority list. Your traffic stats are going to be literally negligible in terms of bandwidth with appropriate difficulty.

As usual, another waffle response.
This data is actually already available from the UI via the Network tab.

Is that a screen from an S5 ?

Nothing similar on my S5's running the latest firmware from Bitmain (SD-S5-20150107.tar.gz)

That looks like the S1 WEBUI.
The S5 does not have half of those tabs.

Were somebody able to get this miner working with Nicehash with the p=... option?
I set the password for p=.... and the machine simply doesn't start to mine.
All 3 pools looks alive but no hashing.
Yes I have it working for me. It is showing as dead most of the time because I have it set p=0.015 but I do get some work from it.
https://i.imgur.com/ZVcMVFA.jpg

The problem with mine is that not shows the pool as dead. It's still shows alive.

Were you just simply wrote p=0.0.15?

What kind of firmware do you use?
What is strange that I have 20 S5-s and all has the same problem....

you have an extra decimal - thats your problem.  right now typical payment is at p=0.0108     .... its advised that you set it to something like p=0.012 so that the pool is only active when worthwhile

good catch

It was a typo in the post. Please read the first post on this page.

Any help would apriciated

Do you have it looking like  https://i.imgur.com/3NyP7to.png

Yes....

The only difference:  stratum+tcp://stratum.nicehash.com:3334#xnsub

All my S3-s and sp20-s working fine only the s5-s not. If I remove the #xnsub they are working but no extranonce support.

I did not think that S5 supported extranonce.

It works.

Just try it out.

ok I will

thanks

I want to add it also count your connection to antminer S5 interface and not only antminer->pool
so more browsing changing settings = more mbytes ;p

@pekatete - What does waffle mean. Is that like laub  Grin

Not sure what laub is, but if it's similar to those Danish bisquits, then yes. And the anology with regard to dogie's responses is,

They look and seem to have body, but sink your teeth into them and you'll realise they are full of air, seemingly lacking substance (and will most definitely leave you wanting)!

Believe it or not, I was not trying to describe dogie there, just the waffles, but the similarities are striking, thus my apt reminders whenever he drops his mess - not the most glamorous job, but someone's gotta do it!
