Did I score the S5+ hashing boards before they were released in a product by mistake Smiley

Any knowledge would be great.

Thanks

Above are two photos of my Antminer S5 with the plastic taken off.  Now its the only
S5 I have that has this design.  It is almost exactly the same as the S5+ with the chips
having their own individual heatsinks.  I have 3 other AntMiner S5's and they are all the same
like all of the pictures taken of the miners.

Can anyone explain to me why these chips/heatsinks are different?

PS, couldnt figure out how to post a picture straight in the forum so I uploaded them to dropbox.

Any help would be great.

Some of the V1.91 Hash boards had heatsinks fitted. Could have been a trial for the S5+ / S7? However they are not the S5+ Hash Board. My S5 that has the heatsinks runs a couple of Degrees cooler than one without them. Still a mystery why they omitted 2 of the heatinks in the same position on all boards?

Not sure what batch mine came out of, but it has the heatsinks as well.
Purchased around 4 1/2 months ago I guess, whatever that makes it.

They actually did some with heatsinks.  I'm not sure what batch but they decided it helped with heat, which it does.

I believe they then stopped using them.  I would guess it was based on cost of heatsinks, or time to put them on from workers.  So you don't have a S5+ design but you do have a nice S5 as most do not have the seat sinks.

Hi,
Recently i bought 25 antminer s5's. it took 2 month to arrived because of my location Sad
And now i have problem with 3 of them! I don't wanna return them to bitmain now, because of late in shipment.
One of them wont start mining and i can't access to setup page neither. how can i flash s5 with micro sd card? i found image file here:https://bitmain.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/203461209-Jan-7-Firmware-Image
and wrote in to sd card with HDD Raw Copy Imaging tool. but i don't know how to flash it!
Boot it up with the SD card in and it should flash the image automatically.
I did that and leave it for an hour but not working.
Does it boot up at all if you leave the SD card in there?
No, nothing.
Can i use firmware image from s4 or something? maybe this image file corrupted.
You could try just to see if it boots.
Thanks.
I tried to boot another healthy s5 with this image file (s5 image file) and it works.
so i don't know what's wrong!

Have you tried using the reset button?
yes,not working.

Most likely your controller board is not coming back.  I have a feeling you will need to replace it.   It is not as good as the S4, C1 on recovering from SD always.

But put in a ticket - https://bitmain.zendesk.com/hc/en-us  .  But I have a feeling it will be needed to be replaced.
Yes. you are right. BBB board was the problem. i replaced and now working fine. thanks for the link.

I have 2 more asics with problems!
One of them doesn't show the temperature:

The main thing is the reading on your other board is still telling the fan it needs to do something. So,I think you're good to go.

(note: One of my S3s had the same problem. However both fans run fine.  It's now 13 mths old and still hashes like it was new...and that's after running thru the winter at 500+ GHS. I just wasn't comfortable selling it off when I sold my other S3s.)

I had the same thing on one unit that did not show temp on one blade.  Bitmain did not care as long as it hashed right.

And I can see their point.   If you have one reading temp it can shutdown if it runs to hot.  So just keep running I would say.
yes. this in not a big deal. i have bigger problem with 2 others!
thanks both of you.

I have a question I want to change the S5 system frequency. When the high frequency I do not see any change in the hash system. Where do you think the problem is. Huh Huh Huh Huh Huh Huh Huh Huh Huh Huh Huh

What PSU are you using?  That is if you are really asking an question.

Not sure with all ? looks like possible troll.

I agree, there is not much to mess with in the configuration of an S5.

My miners are all on DHCP, running on a brand new Gigabit Broadband VPN Router with HP Procurve switches.  I recently upgraded my LAN in preparation for Comcast's new 2GB high speed internet service.  Yes, that's TWO GIGABIT INTERNET.  Its already out and I am just waiting for the installation that will bring fiber to my front door.

I know you guys are trying your best to help me (for which i am very grateful; THANK YOU AGAIN for your time), but I have already tested and re-tested all of the obvious failure points.  I have pinged, trace rt,  and looked up every DNS & IP address from here to china.

I have a BS in engineering and i have worked in IT for the past 25 years for a fortune 50 company.   Trust me when I say its not a power nor an internet issue.   Having said that, I must confess that I had an early 4th of july fireworks show in my bedroom awhile back when I connected the power to an S5 backwards. . . .   Embarrassed   That's the reason for one of the bad Beaglebones.

DHCP never worked well for me. Have you tried using static connections? I set all my IP, it also helps to keep track of where they are.

Hello,

my Antminer S5 run only with 800-900 GHs. The Mines shows no errors or non working ASIC Chips
What can i do?

Best Regards
Willi

What speeds do you get when you are not pointing it twords MRR as pool?  I have seen MRR slow down some before.

Worth trying another pool to see what happens.

Hello notlist3d,
Try a different PSU, i had 2 PSU identical but 1 was making my s5 run slowers, was going in the 1000gh, i switch my PSU and the problem followed my PSU, it was a termaltake if i remember correctly, i trashed since then. and now the all run nicely.

if i point the miner to a other pool i have the same problem...

I'd guess that your PSU is sketchy or your power is dirty. Test it with another PSU and/or try a UPS.

Also I recommend p2pool for your pool.
