It's good that you got fair compensation, Phil, congrats.
i never pressed for any, even with one machine basically erroneously double labeled  as 575 when it can only do 550, which is what the first label says anyway (one label on top of another).

That said, my S7s have been good performers technically, but financially, it is another story altogether.
with very modest hosting costs, by my calculation, I am still in the red by about $3400 from the initial outlay of $$ plus hosting (without counting PSU) on just seven S7 purchase. If you add PSUs-minus $4225. If include PSU and ZERO cost hosting (just as an example)-minus $1825.
I want to help the network, but i am not going broke doing it.

The pricing of the early batches was simply obnoxious, and it is a fact.
If Bitmain feels fine doing it and losing customers like myself who gave them a lot of revenue-fine, so be it.
as far as i am concerned, they had enjoyed super profits on the back of mine and many others losses.

Hi Phil,

Sorry for the late reply.

What state is this solar system located?

Also, the difficulties promo and solar part, let me look!!!

but lets resolve this S7 batch 1 headache.

$150 USD part, I'll get that covered from US side.  It will be paid out as comp on 1 unit of S7 from BitmainWarranty.com

*hardware purchase via BitmainWarranty.com comes with USA common sense hardware sales practice.  Customer service wise, it is adjusted to each country's common sense.  So price may differ due to the import related expense varies country to country.  It comes with live support and 24/7 ticket system and when the parts are broken, it can be serviced locally in USA, Ukraine, Russia, EU, and Venezuela at the moment.  (more locations are being looked into and being worked on to prepare and to start services locally)"

Thanks yoshi

thanks again.

to all this is the comp.

wow i really do appreciate it.

And it shows me how problems happen due to volume.  I get 300 emails a day on  a bad day  so when told it would be fixed on april 30th this month I missed the email.  when I received the .33 in btc  I thought it was a mining payment.

So to  yoshi from Bitmiantech Warranty thanks  for squaring away this long standing issue.

I look forward to the newer gear when ever you have it.

And to anyone that wants a 100 dollar coupon I still have more the 69 of them left.

Wow finally squared away  thanks.

phil

In the interest of safety, I was thinking about changing the point at which the S7 stops from 80 Celsius down to something like 70 Celsius.  Has anyone come across where that value of 80 is stored?

I found some stuff in /config that was close, but not it.  I really don't want to do a grep of 80 on the entire filesystem or anything else like that Smiley

If you find where to change this please let me know.  I have looked, but not to lower it, to raise it.  I can't find it.  If you turn off the setting to stop mining at 80 it will stop at 90 anyway and I can't find anything to disable that.

Received my first working s7 single fan unit today. I place it with all of my dual fan s7's. Interestingly enough it actually runs 1-2 degrees cooler than the two fan units.

I am glad you got them and they work well.  I am happy you were able to use my  free 100 coupons.

A few more are on the way. Thanks again for the coupons.

No problem happy to do so.

To anyone else I have 70 more. Limit 2 per bitmaintech account.

Hash NOW than later!!

This is an interesting affirmation. What makes you say so ?
Because they want your top-dollar money right now for soon-to-be-obsolete hardware, and then again when they release new stuff.

A company that sells widgets will always tell you to buy their widget right now and don't wait because that is what they are in business to do.

maybe maybe not.      If any one wants a free 100 coupon send me a pm.

To anyone that is thinking of jumping in.  If your power is cheap  this is a pretty good time.  as  533 - 100 = 433 + 55 to ship = 488 just over a coin.

Anyone that follows this thread knows I no longer purchase from bitmaintech as  I was never compensated for my underperforming s-7.

In fact I was asked to answer an email by BitmainWarranty a few days ago and I thought I may finally get compensation for my Batch 1 machine.

So here is the deal  I have 86 coupons for the s-7  I gave away 16 and now have 70.
Why am I helping them by giving away 100 dollar coupons when my 7-8 month request for a 75 to 150 btc refund has never been processed.  Well I thought long and hard about what I should do about them stupidly moronically fucking me the 75-150 usd.

I made the following decisions about this:

1)  I will never buy from them again until the refund me the 75-150 usd owed me.  At this point it needs to be  a btc refund as I now have 9 avalon6's and 1 s-7  my cheap power has a kwatt cap so a s-7 for 200 off the price would not really help.
even an s-7 for free is not a good fix as I do not have cheap power

2)  when they are the best deal for a miner  and if I can help a miner buy it I will.   So I give away my s-7 coupons. They are the best deal right now.

3) I will continue to post about the lack of proper service.  I will not say nasty stuff about any of them on  a personal level.

So if you bother to read this and want 1 or 2 s-7 coupons from me  send me a pm.

here are two screen shots of my bitmaintech account
you can see I gave out 16 coupons of the 86 I have

you can see the 17 or 18 s-7's I ordered always asking for my compensation for batch one and never getting it.

Hey,

I am thinking about ordering two S7's with power supplies.

Still think it's worth it? Or better off just waiting for the S9?

Thanks,

I was in the exact same situation and decided to go for it. Big promises have been made about the 14nm miners but nothing has come to light and I bet we are fall before we see anything. By then my s7 at the prices they currently are will have made me money.

so i have been playing around with board configuration, frequencies and voltages..

one thing i have asserted as a certainty is that the issue of heatsinks falling off during shipment, should no longer be of concern LOL

pretty sure they're like cemented on or something now. almost killed a blade trying to remove one, but was able to resuscitate.

unfortunately my board that ran 5 degrees cooler than the other two now runs 4 degrees warmer on average. sign, cost of "error" in trial and error.

Mind my asking when you got them?

They are on their way. I was fortunate enough to have some kind people on the forum donate me some $100.00 off coupons so that helped.

can anybody answer where the temperate sensor on head hashing board is located?

just looking for the general vicinity although a picture with the sensor circled would be great.

mostly concerned if its in the back, front, end top or bottom of the board for gauging accuracy of the reported readings.

Temperature sensor is in the very middle of the Top / Non ASIC / Connector side of the board.

Rich

Ty Rich, this may explain why one board always reports about 5-10 degrees cooler than others on my miner.
