Whether you quit gambling or forever after winning or not depends on what your worldview is and what your temperament is. In addition, what are your favorite gambling games. I think that those games in which high earnings are unstable and rare have a higher chance that the user will stop playing them forever after a big win.
And on the contrary, games in which at least some analysis and prediction of the outcome of the match is possible - the user will most likely play these games even after a big win.
In addition, it also depends on whether you enjoy the game or consider it only a way to earn money.

But then on betting home, I thought within myself if I can actually quit gambling for ever if I won a $100,000 like I said, and I concluded I can, if not for anything, atleast, for the fear of losing back all of that money to the casino.

So, here putting out the same question, what will make you quit gambling forever? A win or a loss, or both?

There won't be a need to quit gambling when you aren't the addicted type that gamble all the time without having time to do other things that we ought to do. I can make $100k from gamble and not quit gambling because I'll still be gambling when I have the need to do so. I can use gambling for relaxation although there are more better ways to relax if I need one. I can also gamble to ease my stress as I might have come back stress from work. Gambling isn't something that we should stop when there haven't been a reason why quitting will be th best step to take. Gambling can be done with no professionalism and be enjoyed.

So, here putting out the same question, what will make you quit gambling forever? A win or a loss, or both?

Being a homeless I guess or simply at huge loss that my financial status will not able to recover immediately through my job.

I’m a casual gambler so I doubt I can quit gambling forever regardless of being at win or loss but answering it hypothetically makes my answer above firm. There’s no way for me to quit gambling after winning something huge. In fact, I might increase my gambling frequency if I have more bankroll that came from my profit.

In general, it’s very hard to quit when you are at profit. It’s like leaving a movie during the climax. It will never satisfy you!

I think none of them as (some researches say)  there is specific gene in the  human genome which makes us to be inclined for betting on anything even at the mundane level. ("I can bet my bottom dollar" -is the phrase I may hear more than often every day in my surrounding). I, myself has tried (one of this days) to quit gambling forever but it  made for misery (just  pile of empty bottles of whisky around my chair) thus since I moved to a full gambling life without any worry about win or loss.

For my part, I will quit gambling if will hit half a million and or a million (no specific number) itself of course is would like to enjoy my winnings and not be greedy at the same time, but in a third-person perspective it seems there's a three way, once is if they will hit a large amount like I've mentioned, the second is they would like to earn back all of their losses and they will call to stop playing but this thing takes a way lot more time before they recover and can be change their perspective for example they cater already their losses now their mindset they would like to take the risk until when they can get earn and lastly is they giveup already to play can be due to exhaustion in playing, busy, and lose already a lot of money.

Hi ladies and gents of the forum's gambling discussion board, coming through with this question born out of an argument I just had with a good friend of mine a few minutes ago.

So, I was sitting side to side wit a good friend of mine this evening while having a chat about making money, we talked about several ways we can make a lot of money in the most possible short time, in the midst of the options we both came of up, I brought up the option of gambling, suggesting it to him as one of the most easiest and fastest way to also make money if and when one is lucky, he agreed it's a good option but complained about the possibilities of betting addicted, and as a result, losing back all the money after winning it, then I told him that if I won like $100,000 from gambling, I did quit gambling forever, he laughed and screamed impossible, he said that the more money one makes from gambling, the more they get hooked, we argued about this until we both decided it was time to go home and rest.

But then on betting home, I thought within myself if I can actually quit gambling for ever if I won a $100,000 like I said, and I concluded I can, if not for anything, atleast, for the fear of losing back all of that money to the casino.

I will also disagree with you that it's not possible to quit gamble when you luckily win your dream amount from it. Even though you want to quit gambling after winning big, you can not just suddenly do it, it's gradual process thing.
Same yesterday a friend came to me and complained how he lost the money he wanted to use for something more important (although the money wasn't complete yet that's why he tried gambling thinking he could get the complete money).
But I told him that if you want to use money for something and you do not have the complete amount, you should not try to gamble with it because that's not the best way to complete the money you want. Let's say you need $50 but you only have $45 , if you fund it into your betting account, you might lose it and even if you are lucky enough to win and balance the amount ($50) you might not withdraw it because you will want to increase the amount and that's the time you will start losing.

Making money through gambling may be easy, but so is losing it all and falling into debt. In fact, it can happen in the span of a few minutes to an hour, provided that you're incapable of putting a stop to it before it's too late. To answer your question, I'd say perhaps both; I've never had any of the two so far, so I can't confidently claim what I'd do in that position.

On the one hand, winning such an amount of money would get you hooked and perhaps allocating a small percentage each time for gambling, like another user suggested, and being careful with it isn't actually a bad idea. On the other hand, I'd feel like it would be too much of a risk, and this much money can be lifechanging if managed correctly.

I think everyone has their own reasons to be able to take a break from their habits, but not everyone will get rid of their habits even though they are married or others. There may be people who are aware that their habits have made them suffer or have problems but they only reduce them when they are aware, maybe they still gamble but there are limits that are emphasized so as not to do it excessively.
I myself have not thought about stopping gambling completely, because in my opinion as long as I do it regularly then everything will be fine, because many problems that occur are usually due to our own actions in doing it excessively, so I think if we still do it regularly with certain limits it will not cause a problem.

Your friend is right, gambling is like a magnet, the more you gamble and win, the more you're tempted to gamble more and winning a large bankroll would even increase your confidence in gambling and make you gamble with greater amounts.

One thing would save you and that's if you already have a gambling budget and you've fixed amounts you gamble with periodically, then you strictly maintain your discipline, else that money would vanish in no distant time.

It's still possible to quit entirely, but only very few people do actually quit. Some people quits for a while, only to return a worse gambler.

I don't think there will be any reason that will make me quit gambling forever since am not addicted into gambling and I do bet or play with the money I can afford to loss so it doesn't worry me if I win or not because I didn't make gambling a means of surviver or a source of income. I can decide to stay 2 months without gambling then the other month I decided to gamble just like that so it is impossible to completely stop gambling expecially for me that likes football and I have been gambling for long. I think the only time I can decide to quit gambling is at old age 70 years and above.

So, here putting out the same question, what will make you quit gambling forever? A win or a loss, or both?

Neither as I don't play sums that would change my finance that radically. But actual reasons that could:
- health issues
- lack of time
- getting bored of the same sport

I quit gambling and even watching sports when my kid was little, had no time for anything else just scrolling down on my smartphone to see what was happening in the world when he was sleeping, so probably another event that would take just as much of my time like that would make me again lose any interest in sports.

I do believe a lot of people think that they'll never gamble again once they've won some big-time money. Again, that's the very opposite. Very high wins often bring people hard times or over- confidence. And there lies the risk factor. It's not the winning that is addictive. It is the adrenaline and excitement of the process which cannot be given up..

Your friend might be right that the more money you make, the harder it is to back out. Because there is always the thought that “If I win this much, I will win more next time.” On the other hand, some people walk away after a big win. And it depends on their self-discipline and their goals with satisfaction first.

For what made me give up forever I think losing probably had a bigger impact on my decision than winning. Losing everything Especially something important It can be a difficult warning to leave forever. But then again It all depends on perspective and personal control.

So for me It was probably a combination of both: a huge loss that would really bring me down. And a big win that will remind me that it's worth leaving with great honor. Better than chasing a sledgehammer in an endless valley.

I cannot think of anything that might make me quit forever. I've had massive wins, massive losses, and overall have come out decent. Now I gamble small and really like to put a few bucks on american football. College and the pros and that's where I have the most knowledge far as sports go.

I think too many topics are created about simple questions and then a month later the same questions asked in a different way. The subject of this topic really depends on where you're from and what religion you might be a part of.

It is pleasant to make small bets and enjoy the process, not being drawn into big risks. I really think that for some, the best way to live life in a moderate manner could be gambling. This is especially true if you focus on your hobbies and the knowledge you have in something like sports. Different yes, but it depends on personal factors such as culture or even religion. Some people may view big wins as the way to ultimate victory. While others continue because it is all about the excitement. Not only money And as you said The repetitive nature of a conversation may indicate that the topic is truly personal. It may be the "end" for one person, or just the beginning for another.

I’m curious tho do you think your enjoyment of the strategy involved in sports betting is what keeps you going?

Realistically, I think nothing. If we get too hypothetical, it would be a big loss. But I've been betting for many years now and I do it very rationally, with money I can afford to lose. I don't rule out that because of a big depression or something like that in the future this could change, but I see it as very unlikely.

In the same way I see it very unlikely that I would have a big win, because I bet with little money. The only exception would be if I won the lottery, but that's not what we usually refer to when we talk about gambling here.

The first thing I want to say you're a bad friend, suggesting someone to make money via gambling is terrible idea.

And the second, your friend is correct because he know that money is unlimited, there's nothing like after reaching x money, someone will retire and enjoy the money. No, there's nothing like that, the reality they will keep hustling and making more money.

If I decide to quit gambling forever my reason it's due to my health, but if my heart is strong enough when I'm old, I will still continue to gamble.

So far I personally have always had difficulty in being able to stop gambling forever because the desire to gamble is always there, especially when in certain conditions such as being bored or feeling bored with no activity at all when there is no work, but if reduce and suppress the intensity of gambling it will be much easier.
Winning or losing will not really be special reason for someone to stop gambling forever, someone when experiencing big loss might think about stopping and not coming back so as not to repeat their defeat but when they see someone win then they come back to want to gamble and can achieve victory in order to return the losses that were previously obtained.
Likewise, victory, someone will think about stopping when they win very large amount but in condition when there is financial problem or all their winnings are gone then there will always be thoughts of going back to gambling and being able to achieve the same victory.
All of this is real and always happens among gamblers, the percentage of gamblers who can really stop gambling completely is very small.

I don't think you can quit gambling forever if you win a $100,000 because the temptation to come back to the casino will be there. You may return to the casino after taking a rest for a while and your mind will tell you to try to win another win. It needs a good self control to prevents of spend much money because you want to win huge money again. Gambling will not allow you to win huge money many times.

Maybe I will quit gambling when the time comes for me so I don't have to spend the money on gambling instead to used for other things. That will be good for me because I can prevents the gambling addiction.

I’d quit gambling forever if it bothered someone in my life that I care about. For me, it’s just a fun way to kill a little time or have some skin in the game while watching a sporting event. It isn’t something I need in my life enough to risk damaging relationships. I’d probably never gamble again after being asked one time.

Might be good if we have a poll, anyway, for me it's a win, specially if it is like a lotto sort of win or a grand jackpot in the casino that will set you up for the rest of your life. You can buy a nice house, have money to invest and of course education of your children. But if you are just winning a couple of hundred or thousands of dollar, for sure you will still have that itch to comeback and play again and again and trying to hit that big win. So it's going to be a big risk still, for average joe gamblers who's mindset is to make a U-turn of their lives and hit a lottery winning. Although I heard some stories as well that despite hitting a grand jackpot in a land base casinos, still the player continue to go back and try his luck again and in the end, he lost all that millions he had.
