I'm curious why you guys seem resigned to taking it. Isn't the proper thing to say, "give me my money back or I'm filing a dispute?"  At the least, you're due a credit for the difference between new and used price.

Notice in phillipma1957's video that the two outer pieces of tape were already sliced.  Also the small piece of tape over the tab on the box flap goes over one of these outer, sliced, pieces of tape.  That's the same as with the units I received.  So clearly someone opened the box and resealed it, which I guess is what they told Steamtyme.

HOWEVER,did anyone else *smell* the machines they got from miner warez?  Mine stink.  The same musty smell of a computer that has been running without cleaning for too long.  Inspecting a package doesn't explain that, unless it is the smell of Beijing smog?  The inside of the cable bags doesn't smell.

The camera work in my video is terrible, I'll still upload it later, right now trying to figure out what to say to canaan/miner warez.

How does this affect warranty if you have a used unit ?  Canaan sees it is past warranty date and you're SOL..?

I thought I would pass along a bit of info I was able to get from Canaan, as I find myself in the customs waiting game I thought I would do a bit of preemptive digging.

From what I gathered the units received so far and confirmed through the Minerwarez distributor, are pallets from the bulk order center. Some of these pallets are packed and prepped for circulation within China and do not come sealed in plastic, but should be in a box. There may also be the odd unit that doesn't come with cables as they are not part of the package in China. The lack of cables should be rare as they were going through box by box to make sure that items through the distributor would match the description. To get stock to the distributor we may have received 1 or more of these pallets.

I think Phillipma1957's replacement may fall into that category not sure, but as he stated in the video he did tell them he still had working cables.

As far as used or barely used condition, correct me if I'm wrong but all miners are used in the sense that they go through a burn in period for quality assurance; and yes obviously the added benefit of profiting on a machine for a bit for free, lol. Also not being sealed in a bag may contribute to some dust and what not.

In regards to warranty, Canaan can identify the date of manufacture and the pallet that the item originally belonged to; so they can sort out an official path from them to you. This is done with some numbers on the unit itself, not sure which ones as I don't have miine yet Cry .  With that info they can confirm original warranty dates, via the distributor. If you paid via credit card or Paypal you have the added security if your warranty isn't honored within the allotted time frame, with buyer protection.

I just received 3 741s from MinerWarez this afternoon. The ones I received are definitely used and have some dust in the fans and on the wires (but no bugs from what I can see). They were not in the sealed plastic bags
Did you sent iquiry to them? I wonder what they will repy.

No, I haven't. I probably won't since they are working fine. If anyone else does, let us know.

My one just came it was used but slightly used.

I will post unboxing  later today.

95% sure the units I received from "Miner Warez" are used.  I took an unboxing video which is long, but I will edit/convert and post it soon.

How many did you order?

Make sure you have a can of RAID handy when the FedEx guy shows up, we don`t want any infestation here in Manitoba! Roll Eyes

Unless they are a match for our hearty mosquitos... might be a secondary benefit to importing.

Avalons having a solo mining Zen moment before being deployed to the mine.

I'm relieved that they are hashing away happily and have one more to test tonight. I'm a bit disappointed that they showed up used after paying "New" prices for them. I wonder if they still carry a valid warranty if there are any issues?

What have minerwares had to say to the people who recieved dirty/used miners that should have been new? I am expecting a NEW miner in the next week (dispatched to the UK), but I will be pissed if it isn’t in new condition. Having bought from the USA and via PayPal there is some recourse that can happen. I just hope they are sorting out the issues for the people who have already recieved miners

I'm wondering if this packaging/potentially dirty miners has something to do with why my package has had a "customs delay" since Thursday. I have fedex looking into it for more info, but I  will just wait and see.

I just received 3 741s from MinerWarez this afternoon. The ones I received are definitely used and have some dust in the fans and on the wires (but no bugs from what I can see). They were not in the sealed plastic bags like the ones I received from Canaan in the past and the boxes weren't taped up on the ends either (one was partially open when the FedEx driver handed it to me). I'm off to test them out and hopefully they all work. But I agree that they shouldn't be marketed as "new" on their website.

I wish they had not done this.

you are the third one to complain that this happened.

my replacement direct from china is on the truck  and should come in the next hour.

waited all day for it.

the one from minerwarez is due on tues day

I paid  that with paypal  and can easily  return it if it has an issue. still annoying and it looks like I need to set up a camera for unboxing todays and tomorrows gear.

What previous action by Avalon would lead you to believe they will communicate?
Oh I don't know... Perhaps their previous history over the past several years? While not perfect, compared to other miner makers they are exemplary in that when possible they generally *do* eventually make right their wrongs.
