So this is roughly an "Avalon based Rbox" with much better power consumption figures. So the real big unknown then is it's price. What I saw from the PDF's suggest it's a straight 12V power input, probably a single PCIe connector.

An interesting development. I just hope it doesn't follow the Avalon 4.1 pricing model.

It will definitely beat Rbox on efficiency.  And giving their Avalon 4.1's I'm expecting very quiet to near silent operations.

Will be interesting to see what they come out with.

I'll go poke around a bit, but maybe somebody here knows: How many A3222's are on each board of the existing Avalon 4.1 miner? That miner as I recall has 2 boards, of N chips each, right? Any body know what N is?
40 chips across 2 planes of 5 modular segments each, so 20/plane | 4/segment.

so the 40 chip running at 800 gh does about .53 watts per gh or 425 watts

the 5 chip running at 100gh  pulls   53 watts maybe

and it could  go a little lower maybe.

100gh burning 53 watts as a solo miner cost about 38kwatts a month

so at 10 cents = 3.80 usd a month
at 15 cents     = 5.70 usd a month
at 20 cents     = 7.60 usd a month

at a low price due to low shipping cost this would make a nice lottery item.

I could buy 50 and sell them here next to my cost.

looks interesting 5 chips   seems like it can be set to freq 450:390:370  which is 414 mhz and the standard number for the larger 4.1

this line of code is interesting

sudo ./cgminer --avalonm-freq 275:250:200 --avalonm-voltage 6250 -o http://stratum.pool:3333 -u  work -p pass

this may be under .45 watts per gh

I am not sure:
A) what it costs
B) when it goes up for sale
C) if they will provide  an image for the rasp pi

I will check with www.ehash.com

I would get this if it can run on a rasp pi and they give an image.
My home has 0 miners right now very lonely.
Still have  3 s-3's mining at my friends place at 2-3 cents a kwatt

I know its a long shot but I am looking for some help!

I picked up a Avalon (I think its batch 1) miner yesterday but am unfortunately unable to get it to start mining.  I have checked all the connectors and everything is seated well.  I can log into the web interface and have configured it with my pools etc follow the wiki https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Avalon1#Pictures_.28Batch.231.29 how to.  The unit when it is plugged in fan spin up for about 1 second and then they turn off and a green light is on inside the case and the LED on the side of the case goes solid red.  I have checked everything 10 times now and tried everything I can think of. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this further?

Thanks

philipma1957,

Go to Ehash site. Navigate to Downloads tab, you'll see "MM-4.1 Firmware" link once the page loads. Following that you'll be brought to an index page.
Download the mmc.mcs it should be 2~ Mb in size. You can check the MD5 as they have a hash file for verification.

Once its downloaded you just point the mm firmware updater to that file and you should be good to go.

BTW

Thanks for your awesome reviews!!

You are welcome and thank you for the tips on the mm firmware upgrade.

On monday after easter I will try to do it.

 I have 3x 4.1's

I will do 1 at a time  to see how it goes.

I will make a new card up with this image and see what I get.

I can make rasp pi img work.

I did a few so far.

I need to learn how to do the mm firmware upgrades.

the MM is not the sdcard for the rasp pi.

I have 2 rasp pi's and 4 sdcards so I am backed up.

I have no backup for the avalon 4.1 MM

I do not want to brick my 3 4.1's

A little help to upgrade them please

Are these from the same company?

Here is a general thread for owners of Avalon ASICs.

This is the review I posted: http://garzikrants.blogspot.com/2013/01/avalon-asic-miner-review.html

The restart issues mentioned appear to be have subsided (knock on wood) since I laid the unit down, and adjusted some air flow issues in my office.

You are welcome.
I get usually 3.6 to 4.2 gh/s with them on BTCGuild and about 3.4 to 3.8 gh/s on AntPool.
If you have a fan on them so they stay cooler they get the higher speeds.

I use this one with BFGMiner.

Thanks I got it to work.  what should it do 3-  4gh?  as I am getting about 3.4gh. on mmpool
