My Avalon3 is hashing away just fine. (needed to raise the voltage some to reduce the error rate to under .5%).
I compiled Cgminer from source with --enable-avalon2 flag.
Then added -S /dev/ttyUSB0 --avalon2-voltage 7250 --avalon2-freq 500 in addition to my normal configuration to the command line.

If you are feeling adventurous the avalon-usb branch of cgminer in BitSyncom's git has some nice updates.

Hello,

I cant seem to get my avalon 3 with avalon 2 module working connected to a raspberry pi. I get this specific error

[Firmware Version] => 20140526
cgminer: 444d457
cgminer-openwrt-packages: b7b7afe
luci: b66161d
Socket connect failed: Connection refused

I read this was most likely a network configuration error. I checked all my settings and everything is fine. I ran the ping and as you can see the results are ok.

PING google.com (167.206.145.182): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 167.206.145.182: seq=0 ttl=59 time=12.840 ms
64 bytes from 167.206.145.182: seq=1 ttl=59 time=9.882 ms
64 bytes from 167.206.145.182: seq=2 ttl=59 time=9.847 ms
64 bytes from 167.206.145.182: seq=3 ttl=59 time=8.489 ms
64 bytes from 167.206.145.182: seq=4 ttl=59 time=8.332 ms

--- google.com ping statistics ---
5 packets transmitted, 5 packets received, 0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max = 8.332/9.878/12.840 ms

I also factory reset the units a couple of times just to be sure, and to my surprise still the same error.

I also thought it might be a powersupply problem. I put 2 powersupplies from one of my antminer s2 setups, and still the same problem. I also bought a new psu. Still the same issue (Thinking it may a module powering issue), but fans are spinning and power leds are up.

The Avalon 3 to avalon 2 module is connected to a usb hub that has a seperate psu and is the sold on ehash. I also tried to connect it directly to the Raspberry pi.

Definitely need help on this one.

I bought a 200gh unit and after roughly 24 hours of mining I noticed the rig turned itself on and off, then the hash rate bounces from 84-96mh but never any higher.
Temperature reads below the parameters set by Vision Man. All settings are at what they recommend. I turned the unit off, let it sit for about an hour, turned it back on, and it still has the same issue.
I reset to defaults, got everything reconfigured in terms of Chip Frequency, Miner Count, etc. It still has the exact same issue!
The unit is hard wired with wireless disabled.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and thank you for your time.

I just received an Avalon 3 290 module, along with a TP-link controller/interface from eHash.com yesterday. I hooked it up to my laptop with the Ethernet cable and was able to access and configure settings through the web interface. I changed the address to my network, moved it, and can still login and connect to it.
What I CAN'T do is talk to the miner, or get it to do anything. I'm using a Thermaltake TR2-600 w power supply.
I see 2 green LED's on the interface board, and the fan runs. That's all.
The CGMiner API log says firmware 20140423, CGMiner 2077365. Socket connection failed: Connection refused.

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong, if anything?

Please help. Thanks.

Im having the exact same issue

Hello guys, my problem is next, I have had a firmware 20131110 and my avalon gen2 stops hashing few times a day. I try with system update but any firmware from 2014 just wont work. It won't start to hash. Every time I got message Connection refused in cgminer. When I return it to the older firmware all work but very unstable. At this moment i have HW about 50% which is too much (or its not???). I mine on btcguild, ghash and one multipool by failover. Can you help me? What I do wrong with system update? Every time keep settings were checked. Do I need to decheck this option while I upgrade firmware? My Avalon is on wr703n, and i run it on 1300MHz.

I should point point out that I've used Leaserig for about 4 days now and the rigs runs fine, fairly easy to set up, even for a noob like me. Prices are reasonable, about 0.0025BTC/MH/Day.
Which is really about £1 per day or less, I cant really complain about borrowing someone's Rig for £1 per day.
But the numbers are not profitable, that's not their fault, they are only leasing out rigs.
Many pools seem to advertise their profit at greater than that figure but I'm slowly running our of funds so
either the figures re inflated, or hand picked or, very possibly I've not chosen the right Pool but anyway,  anyone wanting to experiment with mining could try leaser rig,  (Just don't mention the Bilderberg group )

My thinking is that, OK, so I now know how to hire a rig and I now know how to set up pools, but that's obviously not all there is to making money in cryptos, after you've mined the coins, you need the extra step, trading them profitably to recoup you leasing fees,
that's obviously the tricky bit.

I'm still toying with the idea that I should buy my own equipment, but it really is a dilemma because using Leaserig or other, I don't have to leave my PC on, have to worry about maintenance.
on the other hand, if I buy the equipment, I make $300/yr/Mh  BUT I need a machine on 24/7.
There's not much in it either way really.

Been looking at these guys, they have a nice little 1.3 MH unit for about $100 and I hear they will host it free, only problem is,  it's pre order at the time of writing   ( 13th Jun 2014 which is Alex's Birthday, Happy Birthday M8).
Tempting though.
Anybody dealt with this company or bought one of these units.

I just got my avalon 3 in and one connector is a PCIe 12v.  What pins do I power on this connector?  The bottom lower 3 on the left. Do I need the sense connectors.  I think the Connector on the right side of the miner is an EPS 12v.  Anyone else have this issue.   I want to make sure I power the right pins and not fry my new miner...

Been mining at Leaserig for a week, just experimentally, and had good results, no problems, everything fine but then I made the mistake of talking on the Chat, see transcript below so Be warned.
Anyway, after a week and some calculations I came to the conclusion that it's possibly better to own the rigs than rent them...But then of course there's the cost of buying the rigs or at least the GPUs, so its swings and round abouts.      Not sure if this guy is going to interfere with my ongoing mining, I'll let you know, but anyway, I'm looking into trying to find alternative mining rigs for hire.
Leaserig seem to be about 0.0024BTC per MHash Scrypt.......Which Is maybe $1 per day, which for experimental purposes is quite reasonable but it's $360 Dollars per year and I could maybe buy a GPU for my PC and Mine myself maybe get 2 - 5 years worth of mining out of it.
My rough calculations suggest that if there was somewhere out there selling cheaper Hashes it still might be OK to hire rigs online with a contract.   Are there any other places that Hire rigs online, like Leaserig for the same or maybe even better. So I can hopefully make mining even More efficient.
I seem to recall seeing a 1yr contract somewhere for $130 cant remember where I saw the ad.
Anyway, here's the Conversation I had with Leaserig on their Chat thingy....
I sort of worked out that mining the coins is only the first step, there are other steps to profitability like Arbitrage, mine and Hold as a possible investment etc.

Just thought would post my results of Avalon3 290GH module:
Most reliable result - 306GH @ .9% HW @ .7250v @ 525mhz @ 370w

The stated HW% rate at a given voltage does not quite match up w/ the wiki, so Im a bit disappointed but, the power consumption is less than stated =)

Been stable for 15hrs at this point.
These things run fucking hot as hell, I think the compact heatsink design hinders cooling substantially. Even w/ the fan at 80-90% its still burning hot to the touch. I think if they used a 4U height case and made the heatsinks taller, these would be running much cooler at lower noise(the fan goes up to 8000+ RPM).

Whats odd is, if I put clocks at 550mhz @ .7500v @ 325GH ... it runs perfect for a good 15mins (.3%HW) ... but then the HW% starts crawling up to 20% ... I have no idea why, dont know if its heat or if the VRM's cant handle that sort of current or WTF is going on... lol

Anyways, those are some results for ya folks =)
Overall, its not a bad deal, that is if it keeps running well =)

Which pool man?

btcguild ... leaserig(when renting)
why?

Just wondering man , the Av2 complained about the coinbase length at Eligius and would stop , no p2pool either but any other stratum pool its fine. Maybe things are better now ? I gave mine to a friend. All the best man , take it easy.

Hrm... maybe they fixed that in the most recent firmware update dated 5.26.14 ...
