Altcoin definitely, look at coins like Zero and you can see how much better it is than Bitcoin, there's also a lot of active development, which bitcoin lacks.
Both type of coin are good because bitcoin and altcoin have specific benefits. But i prefer altcoin because bitcoin today is not active and progressive as compared to previous months. They are still in down. Maybe they are preparing for development and arising again. They have the both different purpose so your choice will depend on you objective.

Each of them has it's own purpose and is useful in it's own way. This choice depend of what you need. Bitcoin will always be relevant, as a pioneer in the world of cryptocurrency. Also there are very useful and promising altcoins. There is no point in choosing between them.

I don't invest in bitcoin. It's the gold of the digital age. In the near future there will be a "dollar of the digital era" and "gold" will be few people need. bitcoin, because the parent bitcoin of altcoin. if the bitcoin price rises then altcoin will also rise and vice versa
you need to have both coins. but bitcoin is a good investment for a long period of time.
If I'm gonna choose between Bitcoin and altcoins; I will choose Bitcoin for being profitable and for being a great investment. But when you are just a beginner and you have no enough money to buy Bitcoin, choose a good altcoin.
Bitcoin is much better for me since I am doing it for long term. In terms of profitability, I think bitcoin still remains at first position. Bitcoin is also the safest coin and the most trusted one. It continues to develop it’s technology that most people in crypto world won’t think twice to choose bitcoin. However, If I have to choose, I will choose both because many altcoins can also compete with bitcoin in many ways.

There are a lot of topics that is somehow related to this, but just to answer the question. Between the two i think the most reliable will be bitcoin, reason for that is because bitcoin was the first and not just being the first, the community supporting bitcoin is way bigger than etherium this is not in terms of trading it has something to do with how the cryptocurrency is being used. Maybe if there will be a revolutionary new coin, but till then...
I prefer bitcoin even though the current price of bitcoin is down but the risk when we invest in Bitcoin is not too big, and we can invest long-term and not good to hold bitcoin for too long because it will lose, whereas with Altcoin we can generate quick profits and has a big risk
In my opinion, I would choose ALCOIN, the alcohols that have good ICO phases to invest, because the prices are low and ruit ro will have but less than Bitcoin, because the bitcoin value is too great.

I prefer altcoin because I can choose any coin I want that has a potential and can make me earn money. But I am still depending on bitcoin on cashing out my earnings.

Well... I choose alternative coins include the ICO because in alternative coins and investing into the ICOs, i have big chance to getting large of profit in them be compared with the bitcoin. Investing in bitcoin will be difficult to getting couples times of profit but on alternative coins and ICOs, i could made profit couples times in short time (couples weeks and months)
