That could probably work, converting your altcoins into bitcoin when they go up in value but that's problematic though as it means that you're banking on the belief that those altcoins that you have invested into are going to go up in value. Better to have a split in your investment if possible because you don't know if you're investment is going to pay off until it happens.

Invest in altcoins to get big profits in the short term, and invest in Bitcoin for the long term to secure wealth.
The history of the cryptocurrency market has seen many altcoins born and die. The endpoint of the money flow will be to Bitcoin and so we see Bitcoin hitting $50k at the moment.
This could work but you also have to be careful which altcoin you're going to buy because the altcoin that you've bought might not make a profit. Plus, if they're only starting from investing in cryptocurrency, they should probably start with bitcoin and slowly diversify as they make more money while invested in bitcoin.

There are over 10,000 altcoins, so stay awake. Investment always comes with risks, being careful in investing is a good virtue. I have seen many altcoins increase in value tens to hundreds of times, so can't miss this good money-making opportunity.

just like you, i also pay attention to market movements and draw the conclusion that Bitcoin is a very worthy investment when compared to Altcoins.  betting on Altcoins is very high risk when compared to Bitcoin.
because this is what is talking about market capitalization, bitcoin and altcoins are actually very difficult to align because we know that most altcoins follow the direction of bitcoin itself.
and speaking of risk, actually both are full of risk but what makes the difference is the market capitalization of bitcoin which is indeed large and altcoin is indeed smaller than bitcoin in this regard.
This is what causes altcoins to be more risky in terms of decline which is indeed a very large decline if this happens, but it is also very profitable if there is an increase because the increase is usually very large too.
It's true that the volume of bitcoin is very high, so it's great for those of you who want to invest with coins that are established and have proven credibility. And if you want to add everything, it also depends on your capital and belief. If you have a large mode, then play bitcoin, but if you have a small capital, play altcoin. Many Altcoins are also good for making profits there.

After taking a look at the price of bitcoin and the dominance of the market today I could see that we have lost about 1%. Perhaps that percentage has gone to Ethereum because some market connoisseurs estimate that it will reach a new ATH.
In relation to bitcoin, I could say that those who own it and think as a long-term investment are contributing to the higher price of bitcoin, it is also positive for the crypto market, driving the price of other altcoins.
We are waiting for September 7 when El Salvador begins to use bitcoin as legal tender, without a doubt there will be a change in how people see bitcoin in the world.

The move of El Salvador is really interesting and am curious as well how it will be received by their general public.
Anyway, the movement of btc and alts most of the time are independent with each other as it depends on the alt that you are talking about.
If it is included in the top alt, more than likely, it may follow btc movement, however, for some new projects or coins with low marketcap, they tend to have their own trend.
right, altcoins for new projects with low market capitalization will have their own trends, because they are easier to manipulate, but also I see they are still dependent on bitcoin movements that can affect their market movements. for long term, maybe i prefer to invest in bitcoin

It's riskier to invest in altcoins, because it's easier to manipulate their price.

This is just my own opinion, but I believe that the majority of the world wants Bitcoin and will get rid of their altcoins in a bear market to be wealth assured.

This is certainly true for the lesser altcoins, but many of the largest alts trade pretty closely to how bitcoin trades.  This is because so much of the worth of these alts comes directly from btc:alt conversion rates, and arbitragers keep the spreads largely in line.  So whatever bitcoin is trading up or down, the alts generally tend to mimic.

There are altcoins that can be good to invest with but only those altcoins that are existing a long time but hodling bitcoin and even hodling other coins as well is also a good way to do since you have different investments. Not just bitcoin, other coin but also altcoins thta have great use.

I watching some altcoins which the bubble are very big. I mean if bear market happen the price of those coin will fall very deep, but it's not a bad thing for contrarian investor like me. Honestly, this one of many reasons why I bought altcoin too. More than 50% of my fund is allocated for btc, and the rest are divided into several altcoin such as ETH, TRX, DASH and etc. Some altcoins has very big potential to get big market share, so in line with company's growth the price of that altcoin will be rise, when all infrastructures are ready for those companies then the price of those altcoin will rise like a rocket. For example is TRX, this coin price is already rise 100% from the lowest point at bearish market, I bought it at very cheap price, today the value is double. I still prefer like to invest in BTC rather than altcoin because altcoin still very depend on the company itself. Government regulations and other economy factors will affect those altcoin.

Still bitcoin is my biggest choice, and altcoins was just a second options on my holdings. Those old days wouldn't be happening again because that's my way of learning. Maybe I failed many times of not choosing Bitcoin, but now this is my strong foundation of success.
Altcoins did some lucky ways to provide me several benefits, but also have shakin my world due to lost opportunities and wrong decisions. That's why I made a strong motivation to stay stronger with bitcoin in the next future gains I'm going to have.

I have been watching this market for a long time.

It seems that in the early part of a bull market, Bitcoin goes up faster than altcoins (ie Bitcoin dominance goes up.)  In the late part of a bull market, Bitcoin still goes up but altcoins go up even better (ie Bitcoin dominance goes down.)

In a bear market, altcoins fall faster than Bitcoin (ie Bitcoin dominance recovers somewhat but has to wait for the next bull market to go really high.)

So, it would seem the correct play is to buy altcoins at this point, and then convert them into Bitcoin (or sell) when you see the bull market ending?

Any thoughts?

[I used to post as BobK71, and am using a new account after some logistical mixup.]
This is how the market works. When bitcoin is in bull run, the altcoins are green, but they go up slowly. This is because everyone starts to jump into bitcoin. Altcoins at that moment have higher sell pressure since everyone moves into bitcoin. Hence they can't grow as much as bitcoin. But when bitcoin starts to slow down or gets a little less volatile, altcoin starts to grow. This is also because everyone starts to buy back their altcoins (bags) that they have sold for bitcoin. Again, when when bitcoin starts to drop, altcoins drop harder. The reason is the same too. People starts selling their altcoins for buying bitcoins at a cheaper/discounted price.

Why not just hold both for long term? Invest in good altcoins while keeping more than 50% of your investment in bitcoin.

Most altcoin are built upon bitcoin which gives bitcoin an edge and dominance over other altcoins and no matter how fast an altcoin moves in the bullish direction it can't be more profitable than bitcoin. Recently bitcoin is making new highs almost approaching $55,000 which would take several years for other altcoin to meet

Well, there are altcoins that are providing decent profits not just this time but many times in the past. We can't ignore that Ethereum is doing good and Solana too.
We can't just ignore altcoins because they also have those well reserved and potential altcoins that can be very profitable in the future. Not just bitcoin alone but also take a look at those coins with high potentials because they can also be our best assets in our portfolio.

For now, i am not just focusing on bitcoin alone but also in ethereum. Since there are also times that we can get huge profits from altcoins because of its own high demand in its platform's utility case. This is not just applied to ethereum but even to solana and bnb since they are definitely in high profits for now.
Yes, only some of them and not entirely all of them. It's undeniable that some of them really have skyrocketed and with their news, you can't just ignore how they're doing well. I'm not with most of them nor holding a lot of it but I know that they're also doing good and recognizes them. Although, it's still best to hold bitcoin with a bigger part rather than putting most of your eggs into altcoins. A lot does this because they've seen those gains from altcoins but I'll still do what I know that's best and that's with bitcoin.

Don't invest in crypto if you don't put money on bitcoin, bitcoin should own the largest portfolio in your account as the market is heavily relying on bitcoin. Try to observe the market or check the history, there's no time that altcoins had a good pump while bitcoin is dumping, it does not happen as bitcoin owns the biggest dominance in the market, hence, you can't neglect to invest in it if you want to be profitable and a little safer with your investment.

Both are profitable and you can buy both bitcoin and altcoins. I will suggest you to buy bitcoin more and less amount of altcoins. Bitcoin is more profitable at this time and most trusted. At the time of buying altcoins, you have to aware which altcoins you are buying.
From what we can see, bitcoin goes $50k again and this means that whenever bitcoin breaks those prices, there's more attention to it. There are also altcoins that have been flying high and they're also noticeable but we don't know how long they'll stay with their soaring.

Because all the altcoins will not provide you profit and it may the reason of losing your money.
