A Bitcoiner chooses. A slave obeys.
October 07, 2021, 02:33:05 AM
I have been watching this market for a long time.

It seems that in the early part of a bull market, Bitcoin goes up faster than altcoins (ie Bitcoin dominance goes up.)  In the late part of a bull market, Bitcoin still goes up but altcoins go up even better (ie Bitcoin dominance goes down.)

In a bear market, altcoins fall faster than Bitcoin (ie Bitcoin dominance recovers somewhat but has to wait for the next bull market to go really high.)

So, it would seem the correct play is to buy altcoins at this point, and then convert them into Bitcoin (or sell) when you see the bull market ending?

Any thoughts?

[I used to post as BobK71, and am using a new account after some logistical mixup.]

Bitcoin always goes up first and the altcoins follow, as far as I have observed over the years. But then again when it goes down, altcoins crash down even harder. But sometimes its the other way around. Altcoins boost bitcoin even higher.

As to selling, I think its too difficult to tell when the bull market is ending and in the worst case scenario, you might have played yourself by selling waaay too soon and fomoing back in asap. Shocked Roll Eyes

Bitcoin price is still on a positive trend, I think for now buying bitcoin is more profitable than buying altcoins.
Instead, I prefer to buy altcoins because the prices of some altcoins are a bit cheap. While Bitcoin, I think it is better to wait for at the moment because the price of Bitcoin has already increased a bit significantly lately. I suspect the Bitcoin price will have a correction in the near future, before the price tries to test reaching $60k. Remember that the price of crypto coins won't increase all week, it should have time to decrease or be sideways.

it takes patience to wait for the scenario as you predict. I also assume there will be a correction after this, and for now I'm also just having fun with a little money to buy some trending altcoins like game projects. but to buy bitcoin it takes patience to enter the support area

It is not just about being profitable, it is also about having a safe investment, because if you think about it if you invest in bitcoin right now and even the price goes down eventually in the long term the price will surpass your investment point because the price is always increasing so you will eventually have profit, but with bitcoin that insurance does not exist, you can invest in some cheap coin in hopes of making some profit and end up losing all you investment because altcoin are not good for long term.

currently the movement of the top 10 altcoins is slightly slower than bitcoin. after the price decline that occurred a few days ago the bitcoin price recovered and even the bitcoin price was able to break the $50k resistance line. Bitcoin price is still on a positive trend, I think for now buying bitcoin is more profitable than buying altcoins.

Currently my portfolio is 20% bitcoin and 80% altcoins, I invest a lot in cheap coins and today invest again around $100 to buy SHIB and happy because the SHIB trend continues to increase, I think for big profits we should invest altcoins because of the opportunity to get big profits can be obtained in altcoins.

Almost every altcoin I currently hold or have recently held has gone down against bitcoin. Alts depend too much on bitcoin's price so diversifying into different cryptos isn't guaranteed to give you better returns. If you want to truly diversify then invest into stocks or real estate.

Stocks are dumping as well. But real estate would be good and today properties are really high in prices but profitable I saw someone sells his house for $450K, a few weeks later that same house is sold for $650K by another investor without renovating anything. Investors and banks are buying up houses.

But altcoins will be good if an investor can just pick the right one particularly the altcoins which provide earnings like the DEFI tokens.

it will be a good idea to invest in both altcoins and Bitcoin at the same time.
Yep, better to diversify assets, invest in both Bitcoin and altcoins. I think rarely saw people only invest in a single coin, most people should be interested to try another coin for a bigger chance of profits. Altcoins sometimes can be surprising us, the increase is possible to be much higher than Bitcoin price move. You must ever see the increase of an altcoin above 100% in a short time, this is what Bitcoin price is hard to do. So, why don't invest in altcoins as well?  Wink

To be honest, I would select Bitcoin.

Comparatively more easier to turn into cash than altcoins since there is a relatively lower chance of straight-up doing a rug pull.
There are also altcoins that are easier to sell and turn into cash. But if the altcoins that we're talking about are those that don't have much reputation and not yet established.

Yeah, they can rug pull at any time.

just like you, i also pay attention to market movements and draw the conclusion that Bitcoin is a very worthy investment when compared to Altcoins.  betting on Altcoins is very high risk when compared to Bitcoin.
There are altcoins that can be good to invest with but only those altcoins that are existing a long time but hodling bitcoin and even hodling other coins as well is also a good way to do since you have different investments. Not just bitcoin, other coin but also altcoins thta have great use.
The aim is to make profits, so it doesn't matter whether you wanna invest in bitcoin or altcoins. Every market is different from each other just like the Bitcoin market is different from other altcoins market with different speed in volatility. So it will be a good idea to invest in both altcoins and Bitcoin at the same time.

this happens because altcoins have a smaller price capitalization than btc.
and very naturally it will feel more profitable because the price is even smaller.
when btc goes up altcoins will definitely go up several times but conversely when btc goes down altcoins will even go down more.
actually it is reasonable with the capitalization of the profits will be very much but the risk of losing it will be a lot too.
In my opinion, altcoins that have large market capitalizations such as ETH and BNB experience a percentage increase in price or decrease in price that is not far from bitcoin. but it is different from altcoins which have a small market capitalization because the price tends to be more volatile, so the percentage decline and increase in price can be very far from bitcoin.
this is very reasonable, because indeed when talking about eth and bnb they have a lot of fans, it is very reasonable when these two coins have a larger capitalization than other altcoins.
but when it comes to capitalization everything will stay under bitcoin as this is clear from any point of view both in terms of price and enthusiasts.
As for the other coins, actually I don't think they have a system like eth and bsc now because most of these altcoins are only a small part of them that have an exchange and token system. so it is very natural that the impact will be very large in increasing or decreasing

In the long term future, there is no score for tens of thousands of different cryptocurrencies. Only the best mode of payment is going to survive, along with a few dozen niche-specific coins. For Bitcoin, I am 100% sure about its survival. The developers are working hard to remove the bugs and now with the Lightning Network becoming popular, transaction fee as well as the time required for getting confirmations have gone down considerably. But the same can't be said about the other alts. Look at ETH. A lot of users have been complaining about the high transaction fee. But the developers just refuse to listen.
a bitcoin investor has nothing to lose if they make bitcoin their long-term investment, bitcoin is the best coin compared to others especially ethereum.  bitcoin with its Lightning Network is the future of the world's transaction tools while ethereum with its high gas fee makes many users scream..

Yup, Bitcoin would be the best ever coin to invest in for a long term besides other best coin like ETH and other top ones.  Bitcoin's recent ATH again turned more investors towards Bitcoin and crypto. We could see more investors from stock market has turned here. Its demand keeps the price stable now between $40k to $49k. I am sure, every year, Bitcoin is going to have its ATH.  Wish let other crypto coins like ETH will see its ATH as it follows Bitcoin.

When it comes to fluctuating everyone also probably already knows that everything in crypto is volatile. and that's one of those things that can't be changed or abandoned because everything is like that.
and maybe it's true for these coins for Altcoin is one that belongs to a large market capitalization compared to other altcoins, but on the other hand when compared to bitcoin it actually remains small and will definitely increase sharply when bitcoin experiences an increase and vice versa will also decrease very large when bitcoin is experiencing a correction.
yes fluctuating cannot be eliminated from cryptocurrencies. but not all altcoins are like that, there are some altcoins that go up when the bitcoin price is down. people who hold altcoins of this kind in their wallets are certainly very happy because the exchange rate against bitcoin has certainly increased dramatically.
this is true because of course there are some that are not affected by bitcoin, but that is only a small part of the coins that are in crypto.
even though it is like that bitcoin remains the benchmark for the prices of most altcoins, especially for coins that are indeed partners of bitcoin.
this is not without reason, because the price of bitcoin is still far above alt and the market capitalization is very large so it is very natural when some alts are still pegged to bitcoin

If you are going to go far a short-term investment, it seems very risky in terms of not only Bitcoin but also even the top altcoins in the market like Ethereum, BNB etc.. Because the market has not been in a good shape in the recent times. China's action also has an affect on the price I think as it is like an obstacle for the price to climb. If you are aiming for a long-term one, then go for it. Otherwise, you'd better observe the market for some time.
if it is for the long term, I totally agree with your opinion. which is definitely for bitcoin but not for altcoins, even if you really want to, look for altcoins at the top of the list. if bitcoin is very certain for a certain time, namely after the halving, bitcoin will reach renewable ATH, so it's not wrong to save it.

At this time, the situation has not seen any improvement in all coins, including bitcoin, which is the motor of all coins. but we are waiting for this Q4 , because it is expected that there will be a movement for changes to occur. all of this is based on experiences from the first and second halvings. so if it is true then the end of this year there will be an increase in bitcoin which will reach renewable ATH and will be followed by all altcoins of course. we just need to be patient waiting for this.

Why would really need to choose up if you could have both? Although this do talks about financial capacity because not all would really be having the money in doing so that's why some do end up on having single choice.
When it comes to future potential then no doubt that bitcoin could have it but if you do like something which give out bigger returns then altcoin would also be a considerable choice somehow it isn't really that much an assurance that it would go fly in its price in upcoming years but still a worth to risk on so its your own call to take.
In any case, for the absolute majority of investors, as well as for many ordinary people, bitcoin is the most famous representative of cryptocurrencies, which they focus on and build investment strategies. Therefore, it seems that despite the success of Ethereum recently, bitcoin will still remain number one in the field of cryptocurrencies. In any case, if you are making investments in this area, you will probably still prioritize bitcoin or altcoins, depending on what goals are being pursued. Therefore, the choice will still have to be made, and here it is worth bearing in mind that bitcoin has a smaller growth potential than altcoins, however, previous history shows that the potential for falling is also smaller Wink
