yes it is true .
btc is the first to pump before altcoins but isnt btc falls first too before altcoins ? but it cannot fall too hard because many people wont just sold all thier btc and there are also continous buyers and holders of btc  .
i think btc stops increasing too much because many people cannot afford it anymore once it pumps but they switch to altcoins for a while .

Bitcoin is the dominant currency among cryptocurrencies. In the long run, investing in it will be more profitable and will yield higher profits.
The market value of altcoins is still relatively small, generally following the rise and fall of the price of Bitcoin, but the fluctuation range will be greater than that of Bitcoin.
You can choose Bitcoin and relatively safe and reliable altcoin portfolio investment to reduce risks and loss of profits.

Bitcoin has always dominated the market, so of course the risk of investing in Bitcoin is lower than altcoins. So it is safer to invest in Bitcoin than
altcoins, especially if we are planning a long-term investment, Bitcoin is the best choice. Even altcoins price movements usually follow Bitcoin
price movements. Another advantage of Bitcoin is that if the price falls, it recovers faster than altcoins. Especially for beginners, it is better to focus
on investing in Bitcoin, because making a profit from Bitcoin is indeed easier than investing in altcoins. We just need to be patient waiting for
the Bitcoin price to reach the sell target we want.

Bitcoin, as I was unable to invest in altcoins earlier stage. Before, I was really investing in new coins because I could make more money than bitcoin in less than a month. Investing in their ICO is really great because it would be listed in exchange after a few weeks. But now that there are a lot of new coins, many of which are shitcoins, which are extremely risky, bitcoin is the better option.

Honestly, I'm not good at analyzing the market or using the tools provided by the market to analyze candles based on price and volume movements. My day trading only relies on depth and EMAs 15, 20, 30, 50, 100, 200. So I'm not really thinking about which one to buy, BTC or ALTs. But this is what I do, always buy Bitcoin every 2 weeks regularly in small amounts, $10 - max $100, then I sell some when the price really goes up high, since 2016 I have never traded BTC/FIAT, for Bitcoin, I just swapped to a Fiat, then I cashed out.
This is also what I recommend, use some to buy bitcoins, and part others for alts, spend wisely and sell them when the price really hits your target price.

At this time it is good to analyze both markets, the reason is simple, both BTC and Alts markets represent money, and there is always a great union or dependence of the alts with respect to BTC, since BTC will always maintain a life of its own, the alts depend on BTC, it is convenient for all altcoins that BTC is always in an upward trend, as it is the most convenient way for investors to put money there to be able to grow any project, at the moment many altcoins are emerging, but the price of BTC continues going up even higher.
I would be very inclined if BTC continues to rise in price, to choose a safe altcoin, because the trend will be bullish like that, that logic is always fulfilled and right now is a good time to do it.

I have been watching this market for a long time.

It seems that in the early part of a bull market, Bitcoin goes up faster than altcoins (ie Bitcoin dominance goes up.)  In the late part of a bull market, Bitcoin still goes up but altcoins go up even better (ie Bitcoin dominance goes down.)

In a bear market, altcoins fall faster than Bitcoin (ie Bitcoin dominance recovers somewhat but has to wait for the next bull market to go really high.)

So, it would seem the correct play is to buy altcoins at this point, and then convert them into Bitcoin (or sell) when you see the bull market ending?

Any thoughts?

[I used to post as BobK71, and am using a new account after some logistical mixup.]

Yes, its been very difficult to take decision seeing altcoins acting according bitcoin's moves. Its unpredictable man. However, I feel, When bitcoin goes up and when new investors see that they do not have enough funds to invest on bitcoin, they do move to best altcoins where their fund would be sufficient enough to purchase. Same thing happens, when altcoins seem to go down, panic sell happens and small investors just come sell off their altcoins and move into bitcoin. This might be a one of the reasons as far as I analyzed since 2016.

I lost a lot from altcoin, so I don't believe anymore in that. I think not only me, but many more people have also lost the same like me. Especially if you invest in shitcoin then means you are gambling with your funds. And as we know most people on gambling have been losing. To be honest almost 98% of altcoin is useless. There is no use expect trading on the exchange, so from it we can't expect much. Investing in Bitcoin means you aren't going to lose Bitcoin. Doesn't matter the price, it would pump or dump at any time. But if you bought one Bitcoin means still you will have one Bitcoin. Anytime would recover price even after drop. But if you hold shitcoin and in case dump it, means you lost Bitcoin or USDT since we evaluate altcoin price in USDT or Bitcoin. So think about what is best for you.

The market has been really interesting recently. Because Bitcoin is having a big difficulty in continuing to increase now and it is stuck around $47k. $50k resistance level is really strong seemingly. While Bitcoin is in this situation, interestingly there are many altcoins which are on the rise. Ethereum is the one that has drawn my attention the most lately. Normally, the movements of Bitcoin price would directly affect the rest of the coins in the same way.

So, I chose to give a chance for altcoins like ETH and BNB. But my biggest investment is still in Bitcoin.  Grin

I also saw some traders showing possible price movement of ETH & BTC, it shows almost similar patterns, but it is predicted that ETH stays longer on its higher price than BTC. Most altcoins are susceptible to the bitcoin crash, maybe because of their lower market cap.  If I choose, I will pick Bitcoin and Ethereum due to their strong grasp and influence in the market. Cryptocurrencies are not exclusive, and I see how it becomes more adopted and accepted by the locals, it is now competing against traditional finance. It only shows the great potential as a store of value.

I still prefer to invest with bitcoin than altcoin because there is still hope that it will definitely get to $70k before the half of this month. Bitcoin don't take a long time before it can pump compared to altcoin that make many users to fell in love with bitcoin pump during pandemic.
Many bitcoin users are still happy about the profit they are making from their investment.

Maybe I myself choose bitcoin to invest long term. Seeing bitcoin is an established coin and has proven its stability over the years. While Altcoins dominate not all the time..sometimes it is unstable and sometimes if the price of bitcoin is going down it drops much deeper.

I've tried this trick. at the beginning of the bull market, the price of bitcoin will increase, but at the end of the bull market, the price of altcoins also increases, even higher and some altcoins can reach their ATH. this makes the price of altcoins in BTC pairs also increase. however, the value of 1 bitcoin remains 1 bitcoin, whether it's a bull market or a bear market. But the price of altcoins is different, it could be 500 coins for 1 bitcoin, but when the price is pumped, it turns into 250 coins for 1 bitcoin. when we sell it at the end of the bull market on the bitcoin pair, then we make a profit.

I once tried this trick using ethereum. I wait for some moment. Unfortunately, it was very difficult to determine when the bull market ended, and when I sold the ethereum I made a profit, it's just that the price of ethereum became higher than before. This happened at the end of 2020.

however, I suggest that if you hold bitcoins, then focus on collecting them. because it is very difficult to hold altcoins when the market is bear. well, the drop is sometimes very deep, and frustrating for some people. however, if you are patient, and aware of the risks, it can be a good way.

In investing we must always divide into many places, for now my investment portion is 24% bitcoin and 74% altcoins. if I buy bitcoin then I will make it for long-term investment (more than a year), because many companies continue to actively develop bitcoin then I really believe that the price of bitcoin can reach $100k this year, while I hold altcoins because I think altcoins are easier to get 100x profit in the short term (less than a year).

Acquiring both Bitcoin and Altcoins are beneficial instead of focusing into just one crypto which is Bitcoin. Instead of focusing your budget allocation into one, why not diversify it, assuring that the altcoins you would choose are worthy for investment and for long term purposes. Bitcoin is already given to be a good crypto since many people are really wanting to own even a part of it for good. Having Altcoins on the other hand gives you vast opportunities of acquiring profit from different sources since they do have different market behavior and are potential for growth if you would be having those good altcoins.
That depends, if you're new, you might want to focus on bitcoin first and try to grow your capital there and hopefully it happens and if it does happen, that's when you start to slowly diversify and continue making more money because it's true that altcoins can make a lot of money too and you don't want to miss out on that.

If the question is about investment, Bitcoin is a safer bet, and it indeed tends to go higher and drop lower than most good altcoins. However, Ethereum is doing very well in 2021, so there isn't much of an advantage with investing in Bitcoin rather than Ethereum anymore. It's also easy to simply diversify and invest in both, so why choose?
If we're talking about Bitcoin and the prospects of it being adopted as money, I think it will need altcoins desperately because the network won't be able to deal with the load if people start using Bitcoin for everyday transactions. Sharing the load with altcoins can help make the plan of using cryptos as money realistic, making the fees and waiting time lower for everyone.

The altcoin can tempt to invest in various altcoin because the profit we can take will be bigger. But if we can not get the right coin to buy, we will not have that chance instead we will just hold the coin without knowing when the price can increase. Buying altcoin when the price is low can be a good choice but you need to find the right altcoin. And after the coin can increase higher, you can convert it into bitcoin and hold it until the bitcoin price can increase. That can give you a chance to make a big profit and once you can do that, you just need to rinse and repeat and hopefully, the market still moves good to give you the next profit.

Exactly. You will never be in wrong investments if you diversify your portfolio into bitcoin and altcoins. Of course you should also see to it that you have those potential altcoins that will recover anytime their value dump. With bitcoin, its always been profitable so definitely it will be more profitable becomes even higher.

Having altcoins and bitcoin will definitely create huge profits in the long run. Just like bitcoin and ethereum that are perfect pair for investments ands definitely very bullish by this time so if you can have them both and hodl them for long, then you will experience the best kind of profits once both of them will have their own bullish season.

For a long-term investment, it would be better to pick Bitcoin than altcoin, if you will see the previous market price chart with altcoins and the price of Bitcoin, there's evidence that Bitcoin always leading the market.  And now when it comes to investment, I rather have a large percentage of Bitcoin in my portfolio than in altcoins which is a good investment in a short period of time.

As long as for me, I always pay attention to the investment that has a low risk and only Bitcoin investment potentially has an assurance about this.  It's your money and it's your choice which coins you will take a risk.
Apart from Bitcoin I think there are some altcoins that are good for long-term investments,
like Ethereum and BNB both are top altcoins and I believe they are suitable for long term investment,
these three coins are top coins and it seems they have low risk
