Bitcoin already outperformed ethereum and even once, ethereum didn't have a chance to outperformed bitcoin it is very clear to say that bitcoin will become more powerful and even right now, ethereum can't outperformed bitcoin because of the great things that bitcoin have like solid community, big investors and so on.

Of course unarguably it is Bitcoin. If we try to look back on Bitcoins price way back January 2017 it is like from $800-$7000+ just this mid November so how much more if we are talking about five years? Ethereum needs more upgrades, adoption and a bigger community to compete with Bitcoin. If I have to choose which coin I am going hold for five years I would obviously choose Bitcoin over Ethereum. Bitcoin is widely used as payment, Bitcoin caught the attention of online merchants all over the world and even in some physical stores and in some countries central banks accepted Bitcoin. Therefore, a lot of people are into Bitcoin because it is the most popular new kind of money which is more expensive than gold.

I would like to bet for Etherium but to think that the market value of Bitcoin is way higher and much larger than etherium at this moment and has also a higher rate of increase on its value, it clearly shows that 5 years from now, bitcoin will be still more profitable than ETH because it is having a much more expensive market value. 
if you're compare between bitcoin and Ethereum i think obviously most people answers will says bitcoin is more profitable but we cannot avoid ETH as the future of investment too because this altcoin had strong communities and good concept and good technology as you can see there are plenty ICO project based on ETH token was pretty suceessfully so in my view if you have the particular amount of money to invest at cryptocurrency then considering bought both of them is good for the future purposse

of course the answer is bitcoin because bitcoin price could be higher than today and if we invest right now, i think the price will be double in next year and we don't have to wait until 5 years. but for me, i think i want to invest bitcoin and ethereum because i think bitcoin and ethereum can give me big profit in future and if 5 years from now the price is increase higher, then i am sure that i can make a lot of profit. but we can not compare between bitcoin and ethereum because the ethereum price is too cheap depend bitcoin and its need more years to become expensive like bitcoin.

I think ethereum would gain the top position after 5 years but that doesn't mean bitcoins value would decrease its just that ethereum would have a better jumpstart from that time I think.
Bitcoin is unstoppable and it will continue to become unstoppable after 5 years, there is no chance for any altcoin to beat bitcoin even ethereum. Bitcoin will continue to improve and become bigger that will make its foundation even stronger than now. I am a believer of Bitcoin and I bet that it would be still more profitable in the future than Etherium since bitcoin is know for long term investment. Don't get me wrong, I know Etherium is also profitable and is a good coin. Also, its market value is continuously rising but I highly doubt that it will surpass the market value of Bitcoin and to be more profitable. Etherium is best at short term investment and I think it won't be that much profitable when it comes to long term.
