The suspense is killing me Cheesy... If that's part of an original/custom-made tunnel motion intro, then I'm already impressed with the effort that was put into this video!

OMG, I don't usually quote images but I have to comment on this one.  Not only is it true, but the montage of thumbnails perfectly encapsulates what Youtube has become--and as I think I've mentioned in a previous post, you can find idiotic clickbait-y thumbnails like that for videos on a vast array of topics.  Youtube started as a cool, homegrown video site....and now everyone has paid sponsors and/or is paid by Youtube, and everyone is following their ever-changing and always stricter rules on the type of content that can be uploaded.  It's turned into a site where the videos are the equivalent of typing in all caps, with everyone screaming for clicks and attention.

Oh, and by the way don't forget to smash that like button and hit subscribe if you want more content like this.  It really helps out the channel....blah fucking blah blah.

I wanted info on two things today: DeFi projects and the state of ETH 2.0.  I searched Youtube and found results that look like those thumbs above and only one useful video on the latter.  This sort of makes me wonder if bitcointalk's Youtube channel is going to conform to the current standard of carbon copy videos or, if it doesn't, how in the world is it going to attract attention on a site where the worst content is the most heavily promoted.

I suppose if we ever see another video, we'll find out.

there is just no beating them today for they are like the army of memes trying to get many views for the sponsors who paid them. things change over time and while it was more decent in the past, today there is no educational value but just pure entertainment. i remember an episode of max keiser and stacy laughing at these influencers on youtube who opens thier mouth widely.

but i suppose the new generations can always look up to search andreas antonop.  they learn blockchain in school too. that's why the new traders today concentrate more on crypto through these shills on youtube. never in their lives tried gold or silver before.

Sounds like it will take not long for that we get to see the first Video ! Maybe a nice Christmas Gift for today ?
Or we will start into the New Year with it with a review of what all happend the last year , anyway i looking forward to watch it.

Oh, and by the way don't forget to smash that like button and hit subscribe if you want more content like this.  It really helps out the channel....blah fucking blah blah.
In this case I can tell you that , that they are right with what they say, it is the Youtube algo that recommends the video to other users when the like button gets pressed.
The subscribe button is only for that you get a notification when a new content is uploaded and laters if you have enough subscribers like 1000 then its possible you can get some money for the content .

Just for the record (and in case I didn't explicitly mention it) I did subscribe to the channel, and I think I was #7.  That post I made about 15 subscribers might have been after I'd subscribed, but I can't remember, nor is it that important.
Exactly that is not important that which subscriber you were because in the end we all continue at some positions but the main point of concern is to show support to the channel and i firmly believed you were early subscriber of the channel even though you don't subscribe to most of them easily.I was also among the ones who subscribed it fast but don't remember at which position i was.

And dang, did I really make 20 posts in this thread?  Jeez.  Didn't think it was that many, but now it's 21 and I'm very much looking forward to the next video--and I'm hoping this project hasn't been abandoned.
On the other side i was surprised to see myself with most posts on this thread among other members who were actively taking part in the discussion about the channel.Seeing the community support and his last post and pools the channel is not abandoned in my opinion so hope for the best.

I don't doubt that it takes a lot of work to produce a very high quality video, but personally I'd be satisfied with fewer bells and whistles, less editing effects, and just plain more content (i.e., more videos).  I'd be OK with them not being so "produced" like many professional Youtubers' videos are.

Yes it take lot of efforts and equipments to make high quality video and you need to do lot of editing with different softwares and filter the content throughout the video and it take team combined efforts to publish the video and maybe Cyrus is not having big team to support him but yes the true enthusiast are also ready to watch it in the low quality also so not much of worries about that. But i don't think people are doing much of efforts these days to make video about bitcoin and there is huge difference in video these days as most of them are crap related stuff and here is how the time has changed these days:

So hoping the channel video fade out such things and bring more true picture about forum and some bitcoin related events to educate the people correctly.

I don't know what "big guys" you're talking about, but I was hoping there would be some kind of spotlight on the more prominent members at some point, because as far as I know it is supposed to be a channel about the forum and not about bitcoin-related stuff necessarily.
Yeah there could be some video sponsored to the specific members that have contributed best to the forum as i have suggested to interview them once but most of them wants to remain anonymous and doesn't want to disclose their identity but yes some prominent members discussion on forum journey would be good to watch among viewers also.

Finally saw this today and posted same day I read it.

May be okay.

who is the host bear?
Don't know who he is because we only have few seconds of glimpse of him like all the viewers in which he changed three t-shirt's  Grin and introduce the forum and then go away. Will disclose who the white robot is with time  Grin

When everybody stop stalking @Cyrus about this video, then the magic will happen.
Waiting for the magic to happen and like exciting audience just coming here every week to see if the magic wond has just flung to unveil the channel video out of closet.

He has already been a great channel supporter from the beginning so he has definitely subscribed the channel

Well to be honest it’s not an easy job to create a quality content online. It’s a full time job, you have to dedicate your time and invest yourself full in this.. only then you can produce some worthy and quality content.

It’s my personal experience even a small 3-5 minutes video can take a day or two in editing and producing. If I’m not mistaken that teaser looks simple but I’m sure it must have taken 1-2 days or may be more for Cyrus to finalize it.

Now we all know this is at initial stage and no one is dedicated full time to this project yet, it’s all part time and that’s also a personal choice.

We all should encourage Cyrus on this for even starting this idea in real and giving it a fresh life.

We really dont know whats going on behind the Scenes and i guess there is a good reason why the Video havnt released for now !
The fact is that it's not a secret for anyone that the video has already been mounted, but as far as I understand, there are a couple of such details as Subtitles, and a few physical concerns that must be resolved by the time the video is released. And since we have all seen the release, we can assume that the first video will be dedicated to last year's events ... and the irony is that there is a high probability that Cyrus is waiting for me to announce "Bitcointalk Community Award 2022", while I wait for Cyrus to announce YouTube video.

This is most likely not the case (although I'm really waiting for the announcement to get started) but I should probably contact Cyrus to dispel this absurd idea.

Oh no, I literally just said we shouldn't Stalk @Cyrus and only a post later here I am here at him again with my useless sarcasm.

Maybe they are busy for produce from the beginning on more episodes so they have a few series that Cyrus can release them weekly or monthly.
If there is only one i guess there will be questions about the next one , i also can think about that they doing theme to have a Guideline from start.

~snip~
I have read your post earlier also but want to reply it now on the Friday to wait that is this the lucky day when video will be rolled out or not but still want to be part of the discussion right away.

You have presented a well chart for the graphical representation of how many members have been part of the active discussion and most of the top contributors have done their job according to me.

Good to see that I am among the top posters who are frequently indulging in the healthy conversation about the forum channel. You have mentioned some members but i beleive some of them have definitely subscribed the channel and they are according to me if i take them words as truth excluding myself as i have already subscribed it the next day the teaser was launched:

1) fillippone

Hyped.
Subscribed, liked, shared and posted elsewhere on the forum.

Can’t wait for the first video!

2) Pharmacist

Now 15 subscribers as I write this.  Where are all the channel supporters??

He has already been a great channel supporter from the beginning so he has definitely subscribed the channel

3) RickDeckard

You are also one of the subs of the channel undoubtedly Wink

4) crwth
Consider me teased. Lol. I can't wait for the upcoming videos from the channel! I'm the 9th subscriber if I am not mistaken.

5)aoluain

Suscribed and liked!

6) Lafu

21 subscribers on Youtube now  Grin

7) Welsh

He is among top contributors to this discussion and could not exclude him from the list as well so he goes into my channel supporters list as well.

8. Shahzadafzal

He has also indicated that he is the BitcointalkShow YouTube channel supporter when Cyrus launched the teaser on the channel for first time.

So these sre are some members who are somehow definitely subscriber of the channel if we take your charts into consideration but rest can't assure it because only the admins have the access to the subscriber list but it doesn't matter in the end at all.

Rest i don't know who might have subscribed the channel as some might claim but have not done in actually but the fact is we watch so many videos but don't subscribe them at all so it's not a big problem as i personally also don't subscribe many channels but have done for the channel because i like the contents and idea of the same.

The teaser was rolled out 3-4 weeks ago but still we have the same subscriber list and no new views have been added to the video because the past members have don their job and now other are waiting for the video so we could see more of them

Some days ago when i watched the video once again the subscriber were at 37 count and views were also similar to 354 or so but now when i checked it at current it's not progressive and at 356 views and 25 likes only but it's fine until the audience gets something really important to watch.

Yes you are right the subscriber count and views are not increasing due to the fact because the channel at current have not any content to be publicized to the general audience and you can see from the teaser that many viewers who don't have any connection with the forum would not understand anything.Apart from this fact views have not increased because of YouTube recommended video algorithm will pop that up to the account that have shown some interest in the crypto related videos still will not show it directly or say it will be down the list as many other crap videos will cover it and it will be like diamond in the junkyard so it will take time to come up the charts.

The channel will have to progress with videos and popularity rank to come up with more views and it will take some time but when it will go up it will be fast believe it.The forum members have initiated the subs count and rest the audience will do the work but first of all we need the video for it.Hope it goes out on channel soon.

This Friday will end up on the same note meanwhile hoping for the video to be rolled out ASAP...

I am more interested to hear from Cyrus what the game plan for the channel rather than giving a shit about subscriber count when not even a single "proper" video has been dropped. I will never understand how the channel is supposed to grow when the communication itself is basically non-existent, at least from what I have seen.

I think we have a point here.
Not pretending anything here, but I guess it would be a nice thing if hear something by Cyrus about the delay.
Launching a successful YT channel is the priority, and we know it can be a cumbersome project.
Just don’t let the community in the dark.

dogs are cute.
I really cannot pick one.
That whole ironic "Coming Soon" thing on the Youtube video is starting to be a little more frustrating than amusing at this point (at least for me).  I know all things bitcointalk move at the speed of a crippled tortoise, but I was fairly certain that there had been some thought and planning put into the creation of the channel and would have expected a followup video much sooner than this.

And I'm still kind of surprised that there are less than 40 subscribers, even if there's only been a preview video released.  Either a whole lot of people who might watch the channel's videos haven't seen the preview yet or there just isn't the interest in it that a lot of us thought there would be.  I'm very curious to see if the sub count increases if and when the second video gets put out.
If I am to be honest, I do not particularly expect the subscriber count to grow any immensely even after say a video comes out, the youtube algorithm is a bitch.

And if the uploads are not consistent, and if the videos uploaded don't have a target audience, shit will just begin to crumble. I am more interested to hear from Cyrus what the game plan for the channel rather than giving a shit about subscriber count when not even a single "proper" video has been dropped. I will never understand how the channel is supposed to grow when the communication itself is basically non-existent, at least from what I have seen. There is a reason only 36-37 people are subscribed to the youtube channel, and its not just because no videos have been uploaded.

What more is that the teaser has 351 views, and the channel has 37 subscribers, I would be interested in knowing how much the retention rate was for the teaser, are the people who watched the teaser other than us on BTT really interested in something like this?

Point is, I don't think that the current subscriber amount is something to worry about, at least for now. One year from now, assuming that we have a decent amount of content, we can see how the numbers look like and what we can do to improve them, but for now I believe we just should focus on trying to have solid videos, with a good balance between information and our ... "bitcointalk charm/touch" ?

Good point (and as usual a great amount of info above). I suppose we should be a
bit more patient, something we should all be familiar with.

I really hope we get new content at least before Christmas and in order to compete
with other channels the content or episodes need to become more frequent.

Indeed, 37 subscribers is not great given the amount of members here on the forum.

More content over time should draw more interest and along with The Pharmacist I
think we all were expecting at least another episode by now.

I think I will try to spam publicise the channel once there is actual content in it.
Now telling anyone about this project until then.
Hence I think low subscriber number is pretty normal so far.

I think it's important to remember that the channels associated with the growth of our channel aren't still that active (both the Youtube account and Twitter). It's very hard to attract new subscribers with just a teaser, even though it's something that it's associated with our forum. I'm sure that whenever we have more content to show - and thus more probability to attract audience - the numbers will eventually go up. If we think of it, most of the discussion that has happened regarding the channel took place right here, in this thread - we already discussed about values/ideas/directions that we would like the channel to follow - and I would consider that any subscriber that the channel has has most likely came from this thread. That number sits, as I write this, at 37 subscribers. This number, however, made me think regarding how much users have already participated in this thread and how active they were - can we extrapolate some reasoning behind the 37 subscribers? I decided to make a very rudimentary approach:

  • Run all the 17 pages of this thread and take note of each user;
  • I also tracked the amount of replies that each user has made. If his/her name was already on my list, then I would add a +1 to his/her reply count

A note of caution - I did this data collection all by hand and by running each page individually. It was nothing made by the aid of a scraping program, so there might be some errors (small % of error I would say). The results where the following:

  • Total users that have joined the discussion: 78
  • Nº of users whose replies were less (or equal) to 2: 56 (71.79%)

This leaves us with 22 active users that I think are more likely to subscribe to the channel considering how active they were in its discussion. Granted, this is a very loosely assumption, but I don't think its all that farfetched. One could argue that it's hard to define the limits to where we consider a user "actively" engaged in the discussion - I basically consider everything equal or above 3 - and how it translates to him/her to subscribe to the channel, but then again, this was just a simple exercise. For those who are interested to see the remaining users, here's a simple graph:

Do remember though that these users, despite being engaged in the discussion, may not decide to subscribe to the channel. Making a very big assumption - all 22 subscribed to it - we are still lacking 15 subscribers, that probably either came from Twitter, or from users who simply decided to open the first link in the thread and automatically subscribe to it.
