At these settings my S3+ hums along at 500GH/s.  Are you saying the voltage field is meaningless and has no effect on the miner?  I'm not sure I agree.

My understanding and all of my measurements on a single S3 & an S3+ show that the Core Voltage, measured externally, does not change, also Power at the wall does not change. It is however possible that some other parameter internal to the chip is changed as there are people who claim that the setting has some effect.

very few s3s and no s3+s had the ability to change the voltage electronically.

its highly doubtful that setting will do anything on your s3.. you can try tho. you need a way to measure it to see if it did work.

My S3+ with Kano's updated software:

Well I tried overclocking my S3 to 225 freq and it accepted it when rebooted but would only hash at 360-370ghs. After only ten minutes two asics went "x" on me so had to change it back to 218.75. All asics are back and now hashing at 420ghs avg.

I recently upgraded my s3's firmware what is with the new voltage setting underneath the freq setting? I run mine at 250mhz and have been doing so for 3mos now without a issue. What can this new voltage setting do can it give me more speed? I rn the on Corsair HX1000 PSU's So i got watts to spare  Smiley

If you up the frequency you need to up the voltage as well.  The new voltage setting in the gui saves you from having to ssh into the machine and edit the files manually.

I tried going down as well to 212 and no luck. I guess this S3 is just fixed at 218 or perhaps needs the clock changed with a jumper or solder hack

Can anyone confirm if this looks normal

Asic 16  /  218.75  / 2400 rpm / 42 c
Asic 16  /  218.75  / 2460 rpm / 45 c

What firmware version are you running ?

Hello there,

does someone has an Idea why my S3 don't "accept" the changes at the asic freq file?
It does save the file correctly but after reboot it still comes up with the "standard" freq of 225^^allthough 225 is comment out and 218,75 is "active".
It doesn't matter which freq I activate, it always comes up with 225M.

TQ

I'm having the same problem as you but can't from 218 to 225.. I edited the file and commented out the 218 to 225 but after several reboot it still comes up as 218.  Tried on my other S3 and it went to 225 on first reboot.  Does anyone know what the issues is and why the second miner hooked to the same power supply won't do 225.

Where doesn't it show up  It is not going to show up in your router if you that is what you're expecting.

You have to go to firefox and enter the 192 number. If the s3 given to you was 192.168.1.200 then you have to change your router to 192.168.1.1 first and reboot.

hi guys,

just bought an s3 and connected it up. ive been given the ip address and have changed my router to suit but it doesn't show up. Also the green light on the unit has a steady blink (not the network connection), any ideas what this means?

Thanks.

Not much just got an C1 and was going to undervolt but turns out you can do it in the advanced settings, choosing a smaller voltage actually reduces the wattage consumed so it seems its adjustable.
On the bottom right it says its a S3 V1.0 blade. Seems like a very complex boards with so many parts compared to a S3/S5 board.

Well if the undervolting actually works then you have that rare breed of S3 /C1 hash Board that has adjustable core voltage. Would also explain the added complexity of components. Good find, did you you know this was what you were getting when you bought it?

Rich

No I just assumed it would be 4x regular S3 hashboards inside the C1.

Well that's a great result let us know how it goes and what efficiency you can get? Also if you get a chance to do a square on picture of the complete board that would be nice for my collection.

RichBC,

Have you ever seen this type of S3 blade? Its actually an C1.

Nope that's a complete new one to me. What history /information do you have?

Hooked up 3 ant s3 to a 1gb/mth data plan once and it chewed 533MB over that period. so about 180mb/mth or so each I presume.

Hi to all

Just switched my ISP from totally unlimited (but very slow) to 150Gb per month (but quickish) 4G internet. I am hosting an S3 in my bedsit which actually is a nice little 400W heater now the nights are getting cooler here in Portugal. The question I can't seem to find an answer too is how much bandwidth does an S3 use in a 24 hour period? (up and down) I have Networx installed on my desktop and laptop which gauges the usage from computers but the S3 is connected directly to my 4G router so bypasses the monitoring.

Any help much appreciated. TIA

I used to run 8 S3's through a single stratum proxy.  As far as the Internet was concerned, I looked like a single miner running eight times as fast.  Presently, I'm doing this with a bunch of S7's.  No significant Internet traffic. I am running ckproxy. https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ckpool-open-source-poolproxypassthroughredirectorlibrary-in-c-for-linux-790323

I presently use a small headless Intel NUC running Linux to host this proxy.  It is also hosting a bitcoin node and a private Electrum server.  This machine cost a few hundred dollars a year ago and sits quietly, using less than 10 watts of power. It also serves as a personal web server host for low volume usage.

Is there any chance i could rescue my ant s3?
I tried all bios versions, restarts, different power connections Sad
Nothing works..

It would be great if we had some more info about your PSU(s) and the stability of your miner before this issue. If you have went through multiple firmwares / power supplies and the unit is still not hashing that leads me to believe its a hardware issue of some sort. Carefully look over the boards on your miner to see if you can find any signs of damage. Also try unplugging and reseating all connectors from the blades to the controller and see if you experience any different results.

Try to run your S3 with the standard speed (218,75 and not 225).
