Sorry I dont know how to put a saved screen shot on here

You need to upload the screenshot to something like postimg.cc or imgur then use the "insert image" tags to post it.

As to your problem, all I can suggest is try a different pool, like kano.is or ckpool or slush etc make sure its working there first.
Thanks I will give ckpool a try, I know my gekko stick miner works there just fine there, the s9 is just getting warm and not really kicking in anywhere I try

Hi there, you should post this in the Miner Support section so that you can get the help you need.

P.S. your kernel log looks alright other than some temperature issues, if you are having discarded shares its probably your pool and not your miner with issues.

When you create a new thread please post a miner status picture while its hashing

I try to post but btctalk dont let it.

Seems like a psu problem. I trade with another machine and its hashing. gonna test a couple hours.

I heard that there is possible to connect 3A and more powerful fans to S9. Does anyone know how?

I run thousands of S9/T9s and we use 3.3v replacements fans on all units. They dont increase cooling any, but they will not burn up the fan port on the controller, you can use them safely as replacements.

I understand that 2.7 A fan is more than enough, but now I need to replace one fan and I have nothing in my hands but only 3.3A Nidec fan...  Undecided

Use external power? You don't need to use the first two wires (power), the controller only wants to read the RPMs of the third wire to be happy (unless you use Braiins OS and disable the fan check). The fourth wire controls it if you want to let the controller do that.

Not that i actually know whats the max amperage you can pull from those controllers, and there are some variations of it...

I mean this grid:

Ok, i see what you mean. Is that grid fixed to the case or uses screws? If fixed, I would just cut it out, it looks easy to dremel/etc.

I have seen a model (Antminer S9j 14,5) with grids behind the fan. That is much louder like a model without grids. Because the fan is in direct contact, a high tone is created in addition to the fan noise.

Does anyone have an idea how to get the quieter? It is very disturbing.

Unscrew the fan and grid, place grid back in its rightful place, screw everything back... Done.

Electrical engineer. Mining since 2014.
can anyone recommend a link to purchase a replacement fan?
got some from ebay none of them worked.

the ones that are on the S9i/S9j are better, they emit lower pitch when at full RPM

not new to mining, tried every possibility. the S9 doesn't have more than 2 fan connectors.

So...troubleshooting for hours, it seems that particular S9 doesn't like the new bitmain firmware, rolling back to 2017 firmware did solve it (of course tried multiple times, whenver I flash the latest firmware, the fans goes crazy).

What about the solution suggested here: Solution for ANTMINER S9 FANS SPEED Up & Down every 20 Seconds. (Enable the hidden menu and force fan speeds)?

it's not working well

Just have 1 S9 that is driving me crazy.
No matter which firmware i run on it, including modified firmwares, the fans keep on ramoing up and down.
Goes to max rpm for like 4 seconds the  lower speeds for 2min, max speed 4sec, low speed 2min.....as a neverending cycled.
I have replaced the fans...same.
Chip temp is 73max.

Any advise? Is the control board faulty?

Did you try using the other fan plugs, or switching fan plug positions (fan6 to fan5 and fan5 to fan6)? Does your control board include more than 2 fan connectors?
