Maybe combination of both? He signed the biggest contract in boxing with DAZN when he separated with GBP. But the thing is, months after, GGG also signed with DAZN so it's just a matter of time that the network will set up this fight because they know that the revenue is going to be big. And so Canelo can't avoid it, and maybe he also think about the money in the table for him, and could be the second richest boxer behind Floyd.
It is probably a combination of factors, as you state it seems all the stars are aligning for us to see GGG and Canelo above the ring, the money Canelo can possibly make, the desire for the fans to see the third fight of the trilogy, the fact Canelo wants to prove he did in fact beat GGG, and to all of this I will add that even if GGG is still in very good shape a small decline in his abilities can be observed and if to this we add that Canelo is at his best then maybe he thinks he can beat GGG and prove everyone wrong once and for all.

On the other side, I cannot blame Canelo for avoiding GGG that time as it could stain his record. I mean he cannot afford to lose again from that defeat he suffered from Mayweather, he's building his career to have some legacy in the industry which he did and now that he's already at the peak of his prime, he can now destroy whoever he wanted to fight even if it's GGG.

This one is true I mean we can't really tell the exact reason why Canelo is avoiding to have a trilogy against GGG but he already prove his skills, strength and power against GGG by winning for two times. Though, there are some speculations that Canelo's victory during their fight have some sort of questionable but then I think Canelo now is more focus and looking forward to face new fighters and opponents. Though, I wouldn't disagree that Canelo vs. GGG trilogy will be a good fight to watch for if happen again.

No Mate, Canelo only wins once. The first one is a draw. That's the very reason why from the longest time GGG wanted to have a rematch
but Canelo avoiding that one, thought there's a smoke surrounding the boxing community about the possibilities of having a trilogy, for now it would be the fight against Bivol to watch out before we will deal for that trilogy against GGG.

All GGG fans are still waiting for Canelo to accept the fight before the man will completely hang his gloves.

We don't know yet if there's some inside negotiation that already happening between the camps, but it's good if they will push this one.

As I said in the past, it may seem unclear why Canelo is not giving GGG the trilogy last 2019 but it is somehow clear that his reason why he didn't chose to fight GGG for the 3rd is that he cannot risk his career over a trilogy where in-fact he have already won the 2nd as the 1st fight was resulted into a draw. He's been very vocal about it but his reasons doesn't make sense.

Quote

I think it's the opposite, I mean Canelo have already agreed to fight Bivol and that same agreement includes GGG. So, he signed 2 fights in just one contract but money talks isn't included. It's GGG who didn't sign the deal yet and not the other way around.

Well, Canelo is enjoying his spot right now and chooses a different path than GGG trilogy. Yes, that's correct he can't afford to have a lose from GGG, and that's why he keeps on chasing Canelo to have the 3rd fight happen.
And Canelo have the option to continue the trilogy once GGG is on his way to hang his gloves.
Just like what Mayweather have done before he fought Pacquiao.
I mean there's nothing wrong with that, but If you're a true fighter you'll have to face all the challenges and not skip someone you're not done with.

Canelo is good, based on what I've seen of his highlights on YouTube and how well he beats his opponents. In terms of record, experience, and talents, Canelo has every advantage he needs to defeat Bivol. Since Bivol is undefeated, this could be a thrilling fight. Let's see who wins between these two boxers. Wink
Canelo Alvarez is indeed the favorite to win the duel, because of his extraordinary experience, talent and technique in every fight he plays, as a boxer who is currently the current super middleweight champion and is also ranked No 1 in pound-for-pound of course he deserves to be favourite, but I don't think Bivol is an easy opponent for canelo alvares in the ring, because from the moment I watched the bivol fight in the ring he is absolutely stunning in my opinion, his footwork and speed in hitting which is quite accurate sometimes makes his opponent often overwhelmed in the face of Bivol.

And also we may see Canelo Alvarez struggle towards Bivol's movement because he is surely not an easy opponent to deal with as he cannot be a champion in this division if he's not that talented enough but that same struggle will turn into an advantage once Canelo starts to catch up how Bivol moves because that's how Canelo fights, he keeps on calculating his opponents movements before he starts making his gameplan.

^ I think it's all about the money, and Canelo might think that he will beat GGG because he is old already. I'm not saying that he waited for GGG to get old, but with no potential fighters except LHW, but it won't give him the money that he could get from fighting an old GGG in a trilogy? Why not? And after this fight and he declare as a winner then he can tell everyone that he is the best fighter in the world right now and stop the discussion about their infamous fights.

Well, if it's not about the money then what is it about? I would not believe if Canelo would say that he wants to end that discussion once and for all because if he really thinks that way then he should've fought GGG long time ago. Anyways I agree that defeating GGG again on their trilogy will make him the best fighter in the world in todays modern age and no one can doubt that.

He should listen to what the fans are asking, Canelo is one of the best now, but you are right, defeating GGG would make him the best fighter. So hopefully, after the fight of Canelo (if he wins) is over, a trilogy will already be on the line. We've seen Ugas vs Spence ( good fight), but GGG vs Canelo is a better fight for sure.

Both! It's still not yet decided because their 1st fight is a draw while the 2nd fight really belongs to him, I might see that as his reason because if he had been the one who have lost during their 2nd encounter for sure he would ask for a rematch/trilogy because he cannot just accept that fact. But the opposite happened and he didn't gave GGG the trilogy he asked. Canelo cannot deny the fact that GGG is the toughest and strongest opponent that's why he's just hiding behind those reasons that there's nothing more to prove.

Just a question as I really don't know what other details happened before, did GGG complain about his loss against Canelo Alvarez on their 2nd meetup?

Because if no, it means the boxing community is not satisfied with Canelo winning that match, and they requested a mass call for a trilogy which Canelo didn't buy since he was sure himself that he won those 2 previous fights with GGG.

If only this supposed trilogy happened last 2019, Canelo would surely struggle unlike now that almost all of the advantages are on his side.

If the trilogy happened that year, we can expect that GGG is still on his beast even though he's much older than Canelo.

But I'm sure GGG still has it when he faced Canelo. The reason is, he really has the goal to beat Canelo to end their story. The adrenaline is there and will unleash on the day of the fight.

In any case, @bisdak @Boafeng and other real boxing fans in this thread, if someone asked you if Bivol is Canelo's hardest challenge after his fight vs. GGG, would your answer be a yes or a no?

That will be subjective. We don't even see yet how Canelo Alvarez and Dmitry Bivol will clash with each other. In Canelo Alvarez vs Gennady Golovkin chapter, we already witnessed their 1st and 2nd fight that's why we can make a brief conclusion about it or we can speculate who's better.

By record and stats, Bivol is impressive. The same goes for Canelo Alvarez.

But on who has the upper hand and is dominant, we need to wait on May 7.

i do agree that the performance between canelo and bivol is yet to be seen. we can't conclude this early as we are only basing on their past performances. but once inside the ring, they may have different approach on each other. less than a month anyway, and we will see how they will fight inside the ring. until then, we can't make solid conclusion about the two.

Both are Champs from their respective divisions. Canelo is now challenging Bivol on his weight level, it's thrilling since both are

have an impressive resume, it will be a test for each fighter. One is to defend his belt, and the other is to prove that he can take even a much

bigger opponent. We will expect a good exchanging of solid punches, a counter and a combination that may lead them to KO, their opponent.

Less than a month from now and the fight will roll and hopefully will bring the entertainment all the fans are waiting between these two.

@TravelMug. There will presently be more of a chance on a trilogy after GGG's performance vs. Murata. The excitement is only beginning, I reckon.

We will have to see it first though, but if we are going to based it on paper, yeah, it sure like it. Bivol is young, undefeated and one of the champion in this division. He has the power and has been knocking out his opponents in the lightweight. Although this will not be the first time that Canelo is going up in weight, Bivol might be a serious challenge for him style wise. But we will see everything once they go in the ring.

The fight is very controversial and for many years, Canelo has been haunted by it. Boxing writers continue to ask him why he didn't want to give GGG a third fight. And maybe he wanted to show who the real winner is but facing him in the trilogy. But we can talk about it later once he settled and win against his tougher opponent in Bivol next month.

Yes, Canelo doesn't want that trilogy as he already claimed he's the winner in 1st and 2nd fight. Nothing to prove anymore. But is that really a reason or Canelo just accepts the fact that GGG is the toughest opponent he fought in his prime?

I don't know what thing happened that makes Canelo change his mind, maybe pressure or just imagining how much the expected revenue that the trilogy will make if he accepts it and finally seal their chapter.

But yes, we can talk this more if he beats Bivol. If he will lose here, no trilogy will happen and GGG will move on to other opponents.

He learned a lot from those past years, If he really have that full confidence that he can beat GGG any time he can simply accept that trilogy but just like you, I also think that he knows that GGG is one of his greatest rivals from the division, it's not easy to win against the man that's why he keeps saying that there's nothing to prove.

We may see another shot for GGG after Canelo wins this fight against Bivol. Money will talk and it will favor the fans.

Just need to wait and see the negotiation that will take place..
