We never know what will happen if there're changes that will take place, but fans are excited to see Canelo inside the ring after deciding to jump up to this new division, a great challenged since Bivol is known as also a powerful fighter, though it's all depends to how things will develop between this two camps, if they choose to proceed or there's change in plan,

the only thing we have for now is to wait with any information regarding to this upcoming fight.

Well I guess as long as the sports industry well not be affected by the politics industry I don't think so there will be a hindrance on the upcoming fight between Canelo vs. Bivol. I just hope that both leaders of these two countries Russia and US will not going to end up on a decision like preventing their people from this kind of socialization, yes they are a citizen but their people have the rights to do and decision what's best for them. Well, as you have also said mate, let's wait for further announcement because I am also excited to see Canelo again inside the ring.

Yes, every Russian athletes have been affected by the war between the two countries.

So there is a chance that this fight won't happen unless the war is over. So we will see how everything will turn out, of course we wanted to see this fight, it's surely a very interesting one specially that Canelo will fight an unbeaten Russian fighter. But it is what it is, if the governing body is not going to sanction this, then  the fight won't simply happen.

Some Russian athletes are appealing to the governing bodies and said that this is sports and not a politics but as of now they don't have any choice but to wait for some updates regarding this matter. Hence, this decision is a retaliation towards Russia's invasion and for Vladimir Putin.
About this fight, they still have a month or so to wait but if ever this issue won't be resolved soon then I guess this fight won't happen because surely neither of them wants an unsanctioned fight.

Have read that WBA won't sanction because of Bivol being a Russian.

If that's the case then it seems the first fight of Canelo in his moving up journey will be just an ordinary fight since no title will be at stake. In other words, a waste of time on his followed timeline of future opponents and the only good reward he will get on his fight is the big money. If only they anticipate, which seems impossible, Canelo's camp can instead shift gears and fight another boxer.

Well, since it's about a couple of months to go there might be changes and possibly, will sanction as a title fight, where it supposed to be.

US said they are not against the Russian people but only against Putin, so I don't see any reason to blame other people and to treat them like they are the one who started the war, so let's hope this fight will push through because Canelo is already all set for this trilogy and the contract is too huge, he can't afford to lose on this one.

Bivol is a good boxer, but I still see Canelo has the advantage here and might take the bell, this is just 2 months away, let's see if they are going to treat Bivol as a boxer and not as Russian who many people already throw hate to ordinary Russians.

If this will push through, will this be still a championship fight?

Have read that WBA won't sanction because of Bivol being a Russian.

I also heard about that yesterday but WBA haven't released any updates about that yet. Today, WBA and the sanctioning bodies have answered about this issue and said that this fight won't be sanctioned anymore together with other Russian athletes as the Russia still continues their bloody invasion in Ukraine. Meanwhile, in other sports and sports organizations are banning Russian Athletes from participating any games.

Quote
Meanwhile, boxing’s four sanctioning bodies have united to not sanction any bouts in Russia while the groups’ leaders mull what to do with fighters like Bivol on a case-by-case basis.

Russian fighters will not be allowed to wear their flag on their fight clothing, the WBA decided earlier this week. The Russian national anthem also cannot be played before fights and contenders

Here are the boxing records of these fighters.
At first glance, I notice that this Russian boxer Dmitry Bivol is really an underdog when it comes to the records. But if you take a look at his records, undefeated, which is for me, this is his only ace for this fight compared to the Mexican boxer.
Another thing is the reach and height of Dmitry Bivol is also an advantage. This is really exciting match for me.

I don't go for records I go for who he fought and how good he is offensively and defensively, he is good on his offense but lacks good defense and this is going to be big loopholes, Canelo will just exploit the loopholes just like what he did to Plant, what I like about Canelo is he is very methodical he is not in a hurry and frustrates his opponent until they give in, some of the fighters Canelo fought are ahead in the scoring until they couldn't stand Canelo's attack

He did fight at this weight class before, betting Kovalev and win the belt (WBO).

So he is familiar with how to make the weight, no problem for him. As for the size advantage, I don't think that Bivol has one, Canelo is known to punished boxers who is taller than him so that negate everyone who thins that their height will be be a problem for him. Bivol is a strong puncher if you look at his record, but Canelo can take anyone at 168 to 175 lbs because his chin is solid.

Team Canelo took that Kovalev fight because they saw that he was the weakest on the light heavyweight division at that time and after they won they did not defend the belt instead they move down so i think this Bivol fight will be an acid test for Canelo as the former is a strong puncher and would be much bigger than him.

If this will push through, will this be still a championship fight?

Canelo is tough as nails and soooo focused.  I don’t see any way other than a lucky shot by Dmitry that he doesn’t take this one.  I do however think this will go to the judges score cards at the end and won’t be a KO.

It will be a beat down if it goes to the judges score cards. Bivol is durable as well, so it's a battle on who has the better chin and power and this advantages goes to Canelo. And I don't think that Bivol will won on the judges. The fight will happen on Cinco de Mayo so for sure Canelo will be favored. The better trained fighter will win this match, and base on the poll, the boxing community chooses Alvarez again.
As what we have seen it from the poll, though, it's still unpredictable as we don't have them yet inside the ring. Canelo might have that advantage and he will use everything to make sure that he got the edge in winning this fight. We are all wanted to see a competitive fight a possible toe to toe knowing the characteristics of both fighters.

Fans will love seeing them trying to beat one another with heavy punches, overpowering if possible in the earlier rounds. Roll Eyes Cool

From what I've seen on some of the fights of Canelo, I can say that he's a focused and a very determined fighter. His footwork and the way he moves around the ring is very efficient, which makes his enemy spend more stamina and chase around for him. His enemy, I haven't heard much about, though for the size difference, Bivol has an advantage, but perhaps it can be used against him as well. All in all if I were to bet, it will still be for Alvarez. The dude is just methodical on his last bouts and it's hard to beat that.

I can also see Alvarez is in advantage here base on experience, though he have not experienced fights in this weight level, but he's far more experienced in boxing than his opponent.
Like what you said Canelo has a great footwork, head movements , and very efficient with his punches.
Let's see If his opponent can use his size advantage on this fight. I've heard of him before but never watched his fight, I guess he Bivol also have a strong powerful punches. Something that Canelo will be aware of.

I'm interested in the 2nd part, a GGG vs Canelo Trilogy if he wins this fight.

Well, in terms of chances, I guess GGG and Canelo has a high chance of beating their respective opponent, so the fight that is almost impossible is going to happen soon, hopefully this year.

That's what I'm excited about as well. I would love to see GGG and Canelo in one ring. Canelo still has to do his best on this match so he could surely move forward with his fight with GGG. That will be a tough match so Canelo must be ready not just with his match with Bivol but also with his possible match if he'll win this fight. I hope he wouldn't feel too pressured but rather motivated.

Canelo is both an aggressive and intelligent fighter. We've seen him playing his opponent like a kid. Yes, he can beat Bivol, the odds are very much high which @coin-investor pointed out so if Bivol will just hold his ground, it's Canelo's favor. It's likely the result because Bivol does that all the time, engage in the middle and it will be his fall.

Canelo vs GGG III is just hyped, there will be 4th if GG wins but I doubt he will. So we'll have to see how he fights Murata soon and by then we can see if he really has the chance against Canelo. If not, Canelo vs GGG 3 will only be because of money.

Of all Canelo's fights, this is one worth watching because he will face a fighter who stands toe to toe, who likes to engage and rely on his power if this guy is powerful and can stand big punch we'll have a good fight it's too late for Bivol to do or learn a Mayweather the only fighter who has beaten Canelo, so I expect a slugfest here a far cry from what we saw in Canelo's fight, I'll give Bivol a better chance than all the other light heavyweight, but I expect Canelo will come out the winner.
This is what I am expecting to see as well, many fighters due to the powerful punches that Canelo could throw were simply afraid to simple stand up to him and try to answer every punch Canelo sent with one of their own, however I think Bivol may have a chance to do something like this, and if he can, then we are about to see an incredible fight, besides there is not better chance for Bivol to try to upset Canelo as this is going to be the first fight of Canelo while entering a heavier division.

With the power of Canelo and Bivol being the defending champion, I don't think it will go to score card because for sure Bivol will be aggressive and will try to impose his will on Canelo, and once he makes a mistake, that will be the end of the fight and will result to an impressive win by Canelo.

BTC to the MOON in 2019

But if Bivol will used his face and will not play defense with Canelo, it will be suicide and he himself will get knock out because Canelo's has power in both hands. Unless he has a granite chin that can hold, but I doubt it because this is a higher weight and boxers do really punch hard.

Unfortunately for Bivol he has not faced a fighter like Canelo, and he is a fighter trained to go toe to toe and rely on his power, there's no way to change how he fights, a fighter will live and die on the way he fights, it all goes up now on how hard he punches and can he get his punches to Canelo's face and body and can he avoid Canelo's attack, he needs to bully the bully here.

But we've seen the Canelo was tried to be bully in his fights and it doesn't end good. His opponents gets knock out/down. It's really hard to put a good strategy against Canelo because he developed into a complete fighter. Maybe what Bivol can do is rely on his power and maybe he will get lucky and hit Canelo with a good punch and who knows, Canelo will get his first loss, as you have said, live and die and in the ring for Bivol here.

Canelo is just so focused on the ring, so even if you trash-talk him, disrespect him, it will not make him change his strategy, he will always follow the game plan and always play smart in the ring. I wonder what would happen in this fight, Bivol is the bigger guy but Canelo is a volume puncher so it should not be an advantage for Bivol. Good luck to him though.
