I don't think it will be suspended, Canelo is the face of boxing and if they did with his first fight for this year, this might send a bag signal for all Russian boxers, and it's not be good for the sports. Boxing fans wanted to see Canelo this year against a tough fighter in Bivol and hopefully this politics and sports should be separated.

Hopefully, as we don't know what is the effect of this ongoing war with sport industry. We can't conclude if they can proceed or if the governing concerns will not interrupt to this upcoming fight. We do want Canelo inside the ring and facing a much bigger Bivol we will
see how tough Canelo's preparation went thru.

Aiming for Canelo to win and see more upcoming fight being settled for him with more heavy and skilled fighters. Roll Eyes

Same here, even without the fact that we haven't seen Canelo fighting this year, I do hope that this fight will continue and not just this fight but for other Russian Athletes as well that have some games or fight scheduled even before the implementation was posted. These industries is for sports and entertainment, and not for politics. They should've let the elected country leaders deal with it.

That statement is very positive, it's a go on his side but hopefully the same on the side of other countries or the organizers of the boxing event. When politics will come into the picture, everything will become biased and that will kill the excitement. Just let them fight, at least in times of war we can still entertain ourselves.

Exactly, though USA is against the Russia and they are giving them sanctions. We should be optimistic, this fight will happen and we will see an entertaining fight again. After this fight, Canelo is set to fight GGG as per report which also has a blood of a Russian.

Another Russian? I think he is just representing Russia (hope politics wont be involved in this fight), but originally he is from Kyrgyzstan. I am not sure if there is a huge difference in boxing schools, but his style will be more close to GGG. Some might think that thanks to reach advantage, Dmitry Bivol will have an advantage over Canelo. But I think we will see copy/paste of Kovalev vs Canelo fight. I would love to see Canelo vs Artur Beterbiev fight. I bet Artur can give Canelo lots of troubles, as his power is greater compared to Bivol. Beterbiev ended all of his fight by TKO or KO.

This is not the first time Canelo is fighting in this weight class. Canelo has already defeated Kovalev in a light heavyweight title fight way back in 2019. It wasn't just a defeat, Canelo in fact knocked out Sergey. So this match against Bivol is the second match of Canelo at the 175 pounds limit. I think both Kovalev and Bivol are also 6 feet tall. It is interesting that Canelo is facing another Russian fighter in his light heavyweight return. We will see whether the younger Bivol will somehow avenge the loss of Kovalev.

Bivol is indeed dangerous opponent. Canelo experience is only his advantage since Bivol has a high IQ fighter like Mayweather which Canelo only lose on his career. But still this fight is much easier choice for him compared to other division champions which far more dangerous to him.

Looks like he doesn't have any good defensive strategy to counter Canelo's punch unless he works hard to acquire new traits in boxing but that too is easy for Canelo because he can also adopt and counter his opponent and destroy their rythms to knock them out. This is not an easy fight for Bivol as he is a total underdog here, it would be crossing a giant wall which doesn't really budge at all.

Exactly, no boxer would come unprepared especially if you are fighting one of the best in his generation, so Bivol's camp is surely studying the weakness of Canelo so Bivol will be effective inside the ring and will give him some trouble. The odds of Bivol is very attractive, but knowing how Canelo beat most of his opponents in a dominance passion, it's hard to bet against him.
