I am a fan of canelo alvarez and yes this will be the most interesting fight that will happen this year to be honest..
And i am pretty sure that there is a perfect knock out on this fight and it will be another good highlight for canelo. Cheesy

i'm not saying his opponent is weak. Wherein its because canelo has ultra instinct to knock down his opponent.. Lol

Knowing Canelo I am sure that he will be going to make this fight favor to him and like what have many said I think there's no fighter yet born that will going to defeat this undefeated fighter Canelo. I am also sure for a pretty knock out but who knows right let's see when the fight begins. This man Canelo didn't have a vacant scheduled on his career and it's so good to know that he has been actively performing in the career and a good exercise also for him to keep his skills and ability on fire.

This is exciting! We will see who among these two orthodox fighters will prevail. But, personally, I am seeing a Canelo victory. Bivol doesn't have the same level of power with Canelo. If he decides to trade heavy blows with Canelo, he will be in danger. He could be knocked out. Yes, he has the height advantage, but the reach is almost equal, with only less than 2 inches different. And while this is Canelo's first venture on a super light heavyweight match, I don't think he needs much adjustment considering his fighting style.

Looks like I gonna choose Canelo to win this fight since this is only like his past fights where you thought he might get some serious challenge but in reality, he will just gonna beat his opponent with no problem. That would be another exciting match since his opponent here is known to be a strong fighter and has no losses, looks like this is a great challenge for him as well because he is putting his clean record on the table fighting one of the current great boxers in this era.

We all going to choose Canelo, it's not that Bivol is a weak fighter it's just Canelo is a very superior fighter and he is on top of the pound for pound boxer now and he is on a trail to establishing his legacy, I don't think Bivol has what it takes to stop him, only Golovkin stand a chance to stop him and they have a chance to meet again after they beat their respective opponents.

Yes, we haven't seen any fighters that can really beat the version of Canelo right now, not even Bivol at this own division. Not the first time that Canelo will move up to light heavyweight so there is no problem for him moving up North again. It's a question on how Bivol will perform against his version of Canelo. He has a chance, but we will see how Canelo will react if he gets hit, we all know that Canelo's chin is very good, not even in his 2 fights against GGG that it has broken.

I honestly think Canelo Alvarez are going to make him work for it.....until the last rounds and he is going to make Dmitry Bivol soft with some good boxing around the waist area.  Wink  (There are also a lot of people that are not very happy that Sport are going on as normal for Russian athletes, after what has happened in the Ukraine, so the support for Russians are not going to be for Russian athletes)

The fight is pointless other than a money grab in my opinion. Canelo Alvarez should win and afterwards fight Benavidez ....right? Let's hope they put up a great show...  Wink

Voters did not even give Bivol a chance to beat Canelo, it's understandable if you saw Canelo's last 4 fights fight you will be amazed at how masterfully he beat his opponents, they beat them in their own games and confused all of them with his style and stamina, the only boxer who has given him a real challenge was Golovkin and if you don't have the same style and power of Golovkin your chances is very slim against Canelo, I don't see Golovkin's quality on Bivol.

Bivol is not a good technical fighter and this will get him in trouble, Canelo is so good at frustrating his opponents if you are a good jabber Canelo will beat you at your game, Bivol will have a hard time because he has not faced somebody like Canelo who is very good at defending himself and while defending he also attack, I don't believe that Bivol will have a chance against Canelo, so far the vote is 6-0 in favor of Canelo.
Even I'm voting for Canelo but I'm not actually think Bivol has no chance to beat him. Joe Smith jr can play both either offensive and defensive, but he is lose from Bivol since he can't endure Bivol's big punch and dominate the fight. That's why previously I mentioned if Canelo not accustomed to big punch, he will lose.

Beterbiev is a better fighter than Bivol it may look like a cherry-pick fight in terms of experience and style Canelo is miles ahead against Bivol he has a good record but he is flatfooted something Canelo wants, he doesn't like fighters who dance away and refuse to engage because he'll have a hard time catching them like what Floyd did to him, it will be a knock out win for Canelo.
Canelo recently move to light heavyweight, it's a huge bet if he immediately fight with the top 1 in this division... of course he need to have experience first. I'd say if Canelo win in this fight, then we will see trilogy Canelo vs GGG, next year he will challenge Joe Smith jr and the last he will fight with Beterbiev.

It's official, one the most anticipated match this year has been confirmed. Canelo Alvarez will fight Dmitry Bivol on May 7. And not only that, if by chance he won against Bivol, Canelo will be facing GGG next (assuming GGG wins his fight with Murata).

What if the story changed, Canelo and GGG lose in their scheduled match.

My answer to that is, both losers will face each other lol.

More chance for the trilogy to happened instead if they won. Canelo will surely have lots of big challenges if he won that fight which is bigger than facing GGG for the third time. Let's wait for what will happen next.

That will be the worst scenario either one of them lost their both or both of them was upset, what are the chances of that?

Either case, they might be really setting up the big fight in September for Canelo and GGG and no matter what will be the outcome, they are still going to face each other.

8-0 in favor of Canelo, it seems like no one believes that Canelo will lose in this fight.

I honestly don't hear the name of his opponent,  I think he is not popular, so I guess Canelo's chance to win here is very high. I read some comments in this thread and the other that after this fight if Canelo wins, he has a chance to face GGG which is a mega fight, so I would follow this fight as I love to witness a trilogy of the two huge names in boxing.

I also don't have an idea on how Bivol fights on the ring so I guess it would also be too early to see him as a weak opponent. However, Canelo will surely show off his aggressiveness on the ring again, especially because of the challenge of facing GGG if ever he'll be victorious in this match. It will surely be an exciting fight.

The problem is that this guy is campaigning at 175 lbs and not American, that's why him and Beterbiev is relatively unknown to many casual fans. But his records speak for itself, undefeated with good KO percentage. So this is an exciting fight and will be a good test for Alvarez. And after this fight, it will be him and GGG for the trilogy.

Usually though outside of welterweight division, it's dominated by European, like the Light Heavy that we have right now, Bivol and Beterbiev so no American in that weight class, not much media coverage so they are not well known. But as I have said prior, Canelo will still win this fight despite a tougher opponent in Bivol.

The poll here is just a reference. When you take that poll outside this forum, Canelo is still favored but Bivol should also have great votes.

Canelo is just more popular but you are wrong that Bivol is not. He is also popular and to clear things here, Canelo is the one considered to fight him and not the other way round. It means Canelo is the one who challenges Bivol.

Everyone wants a trilogy with GGG and that's for sure the most reason why people like to see Canelo win here.

Same here, I think majority here wanted to see that trilogy between GGG and Canelo.

They are the favorite to beat their respective opponents, and barring and upset, they could really set up everything in September for all that important fight on their careers. It will happen this year as per the report, so Canelo is not shying away from the 3rd fight, maybe just waiting for the right time and money in the table.

Great news for the boxing fans. I like the strength, technique and speed of Bivol. On the other hand GGG has gained speed and strength over the period of time. But we cannot underestimate the strength of Murata too. I don’t want to make any prediction here, but I am sure the fans will view some amazing boxing.

He is unknown because his division is not popular, but he is holding a title.

Check his record, he has 19 wins and 11 are KO wins,  and currently the WBA World Light heavy Champion.

I can say that Bivol has the power but can he beat a talented fighter like Canelo?

I'm interested in the 2nd part, a GGG vs Canelo Trilogy if he wins this fight.

Well, in terms of chances, I guess GGG and Canelo has a high chance of beating their respective opponent, so the fight that is almost impossible is going to happen soon, hopefully this year.

Agree, I think Canelo chooses the easier fight between the two LHW, both have big power, but I think Beterbiev has more skills and I would say the more technical fighter. I thought it will be Bivol vs Beterbiev first and then winner gets Canelo. But I guess Canelo doesn't want to lose time here. So it will be Bivol first and then Golovkin for all the marbles and legacy of him.
