Live with peace and enjoy life!

This is much worse than covid 19. Covid wasn't really threatening people who are fit, like boxers. If they were rescheduling fights it was only due to stupid government restrictions, restrictions that people around the world were protesting against. Canada is a good example of that.
In this case young, fit people who survived covid and would live for decades are being murdered over nothing. Relly there's nothing to win from this stupid war. It only brings destruction and in the end both countries involved will lose.
I am also not supporting the war but to built a narrative that players and athletes from participate in competitions is not the way we should move forward as they have no voice over the war and they cannot prevent the war even if they wanted to make a difference. There is protest even in Russia to stop the war and i am expecting the match up between Canelo Alvarez and Dmitry Bivol will carry on as proposed.

Sanctioning everyone could not be the best solution to stop the war, so I'm also hopeful that the fight will push through based on a schedule. The government made its own decision and I'm pretty sure no citizen would choose war over a diplomatic approach as we all want to make peace, not war.

Let's not worry about this fight, let's stay optimistic that no hindrance will stop this from happening.

I'd love the fight to happen, but I fully support the decision of making it happen outside Russia. People wouldn't be able to go there anyway because it's a no fly zone.

I'm interested in the 2nd part, a GGG vs Canelo Trilogy if he wins this fight.

Well, in terms of chances, I guess GGG and Canelo has a high chance of beating their respective opponent, so the fight that is almost impossible is going to happen soon, hopefully this year.

That's what I'm excited about as well. I would love to see GGG and Canelo in one ring. Canelo still has to do his best on this match so he could surely move forward with his fight with GGG. That will be a tough match so Canelo must be ready not just with his match with Bivol but also with his possible match if he'll win this fight. I hope he wouldn't feel too pressured but rather motivated.
Without a doubt that is the match that everyone is waiting for and I do not have any doubts now that we are going to see it, the only doubt that I have is the physical shape in which GGG will get to that fight, after all due to the pandemic his fight with Murata has been delayed and as we know he is not a youngster anymore, and every month that he is spending without boxing it is just another month wasted for him.

GGG vs Murata is where we can possibly see if GGG still has it. It's still not set of course so Alvarez vs GGG might not happen when the old man can not make an impression. The delay I think is good so there will be long months for preparation.

Don't you think that whenever there is an upset to the fight of Canelo against Bivol, Canelo will eventually fight GGG instead and cancel Murata fight?
Just to give the GGG the chance to settle what was left.

And all we can do is wait and hopefully this fight is going to happen in May. And it will be US soil so it should be sanction by the boxing bodies. And this is a Canelo that we are talking the cash cow of boxing so for sure they are considering the fight to happen as plan in the US this May.
As you have said, this is business, the money being involved in this fight is huge specially for Canelo. And perhaps someone can pull the string to make this fight in the US. I think this is just another hindrance, but knowing the personalities involved, this fight will push through as per schedule.

Yes, there is still a lot of time as this fight is scheduled on the month of May and I'm also quite sure that both camps and other boxers are appealing to the bodies somehow give some special case on them and maybe the fight in the North will cease even before this fight. Also these fights has been agreed and pursued even before the Russia invades Ukraine so I guess they will give some exception about this one.

The world is just starting out to heal from the pandemic but then there it is again the war between Russia and Ukraine that cause losses of properties and lives again in the affected area. As much as we wanted to see Canelo and Dmitry inside the ring trying to defend or winning the title belt but then yeah all we can do is wait for the final announcements and hopefully the fight may take place on the scheduled date without any hindrances like because of the conflicts of the countries like political conflicts because sports are not covered by the political aspects.

Here is the statement from the 4 governing bodies of boxing:

Quote
The four governing organizations responsible for overseeing boxing title matchups around the world -- the WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO -- announced in a joint statement that they won't sanction any such bouts in Russia because of the invasion of Ukraine.

https://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_/id/33381629/boxing-governing-organizations-sanction-title-bouts-russia-due-invasion-ukraine

So it clearly states that any fight in Russia will be sanction. It didn't mention about Russian fighters not able to fight outside of Russia. So I think this is still a go fight in May 7.

I hope there's no hindrance to this big fight, we are just speculating now but you have a point and I agree with you. The fight will not take place in Russia, it will be outside the country so the fight has to be realized. We have been waiting for this patiently and we don't want to be disappointed anymore.

This war really f**k up everything, and just like Covid-19 everyone seems to be affected by it.

If we can just stay aside our difference and being biased, for sure this fight can still happen.

You mean any fight in Russia will not be sanctioned.
I surely hopes so, if that is the case then why Dmitry Bivol is heavily affected together with Artur Beterbiev who is also set to fight Joe Smith Jr. in New York? As I read the article it also says that any major and minor title isn't exempted in this issue.
The governing bodies should consider for the fights that have been scheduled first before their statement was released.

Canelo is the one who has advantage on this coming match versus Bivol in my opinion. Other than his experience in boxing which is more than Bivol, Canelo is a power punching with his impressive footwork and traps that lure his opponent to enter his reach and then Canelo would deliver the combinations with counterpunch as a knockout move if delivered good in his opponent.

Bivol is indeed a pretty good boxer, moreover he is now the king of light heavyweight since 2017 and I think his experience in boxing of course can't be doubted, even so Alvarez is also a boxer who has quite good technique in defending and attacking. But the problem now is whether the fight will be carried out?
Because as far as I know Bivol is a boxer from Russia, whereas nowadays many Russian athletes are banned from participating in many sports due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Yes, every Russian athletes have been affected by the war between the two countries.

So there is a chance that this fight won't happen unless the war is over. So we will see how everything will turn out, of course we wanted to see this fight, it's surely a very interesting one specially that Canelo will fight an unbeaten Russian fighter. But it is what it is, if the governing body is not going to sanction this, then  the fight won't simply happen.
US said they are not against the Russian people but only against Putin, so I don't see any reason to blame other people and to treat them like they are the one who started the war, so let's hope this fight will push through because Canelo is already all set for this trilogy and the contract is too huge, he can't afford to lose on this one.

But as you can see there are a lot of sporting events that have been affected by the war itself:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/the-world-of-sport-reacts-to-the-russian-invasion-of-ukraine-5388064

It's not my opinion, it's the whole world reacting to Putin and his war.

Bivol is a good boxer, but I still see Canelo has the advantage here and might take the bell, this is just 2 months away, let's see if they are going to treat Bivol as a boxer and not as Russian who many people already throw hate to ordinary Russians.

True, Bivol is a good boxer, but he doesn't have head movement and for sure Canelo knows this and will take advantage in the middle round and become aggressive and maybe go for a KO win.

Some Russian athletes are appealing to the governing bodies and said that this is sports and not a politics but as of now they don't have any choice but to wait for some updates regarding this matter. Hence, this decision is a retaliation towards Russia's invasion and for Vladimir Putin.
About this fight, they still have a month or so to wait but if ever this issue won't be resolved soon then I guess this fight won't happen because surely neither of them wants an unsanctioned fight.

Still good though if athletes are going to appeal their case to the governing bodies and see how it goes. And hopefully Bivol can be given exception so that he can fight one of the biggest on his career in the next couple of months. It' just sad that the invasion really affected the whole sports but for sure logic will dictate that those Russian athlete should suffer from what their President did aainst Ukraine.
Yes, we will have to see, most of the time governing bodies shows solidarity and not just in boxing, but in all other sports, they are putting a hammer ban athletes of Russian heritage.

So this case is like threading a needle for Bivol, of course we understand that the acts of their President doesn't constitute agreement of their population, but it already happen and this is what the sporting worlds reaction.

Yet the sports industry are banning these Russian athletes to participate their respective sports, same as this fight, the news is that WBO will not sanction this fight. So I guess this won't be a championship fight anymore if Canelo and Bivol will continue the fight. Anyway, we are still on the month of March and the scheduled fight will be on the month of May, so there could still be some changes along the way.

I'm still rooting for this fight to continue and hopefully it will be sanctioned by the governing bodies, so that after this we can also watch Canelo vs GGG.

8-0 in favor of Canelo, it seems like no one believes that Canelo will lose in this fight.

I honestly don't hear the name of his opponent,  I think he is not popular, so I guess Canelo's chance to win here is very high. I read some comments in this thread and the other that after this fight if Canelo wins, he has a chance to face GGG which is a mega fight, so I would follow this fight as I love to witness a trilogy of the two huge names in boxing.

The poll here is just a reference. When you take that poll outside this forum, Canelo is still favored but Bivol should also have great votes.

Canelo is just more popular but you are wrong that Bivol is not. He is also popular and to clear things here, Canelo is the one considered to fight him and not the other way round. It means Canelo is the one who challenges Bivol.

Everyone wants a trilogy with GGG and that's for sure the most reason why people like to see Canelo win here.

In this fight it is not difficult to make the prediction, for many the best is Canelo and clearly as you say, everyone is waiting for GGG and him, but since this has become a business model where only the strongest managers of them they concentrate on making money, they want to do these events to give more spectacle, I have not yet gotten into the statistics for this fight, since I see boxing as a sport not only of contact but that handles a lot of intelligence, but seeing So much adrenaline here, that if Canelo I don't think this match will be very complicated for him.

We never know what will happen if there're changes that will take place, but fans are excited to see Canelo inside the ring after deciding to jump up to this new division, a great challenged since Bivol is known as also a powerful fighter, though it's all depends to how things will develop between this two camps, if they choose to proceed or there's change in plan,

the only thing we have for now is to wait with any information regarding to this upcoming fight.

Well I guess as long as the sports industry well not be affected by the politics industry I don't think so there will be a hindrance on the upcoming fight between Canelo vs. Bivol. I just hope that both leaders of these two countries Russia and US will not going to end up on a decision like preventing their people from this kind of socialization, yes they are a citizen but their people have the rights to do and decision what's best for them. Well, as you have also said mate, let's wait for further announcement because I am also excited to see Canelo again inside the ring.
I wont be surprised if there would be some changes in related with that Russian issues as of this moment yet other industries does really have some sort of problems into something like this which i could say that it is a bit

already not ethical to do so just because of their nationality on which it does affect their current careers or activities but lets hope that it wont really get that far and its true that we are longing to see Canelo in the ring

once again and just like on what others been saying about Bivol then this one is a tough and good fighter which still considerable to have some good match up.
