Let's take it slow and wait for the final outcome of this rematch, though we mostly wanted to see a win and have another fight for the conclusion of this rivalry and like what we are aiming promoters are more into money making fight, if the possibilities of another fight to take place I also agree that it will be a turn of a table and it will be Ancajas to have the heavy favorite.

He can win no doubt about that, he just need to focus and enhance his fighting capabilities.
Ancajas can really win the match, its just that he should not be over confident here and just focus on his training and his strategy because Martinez is not an easy opponent after all. Rematch can be talked once we already have the result for this one, the promoter will always want a rematch especially if there’s a good demand for this. If Ancajas will win, this could be a great revival of Filipino boxer, we really need a champion again.

Yup, i have this feeling that he would avenge his loss but just be careful not to put much money on him because we never know the outcome. It's a good thing though that he would be the underdog now because even if we put a small amount, it will win a bit bigger unlike if he is the favorite.
I'm betting on him here, underdog or not, it doesn't matter, what's important is to win and go for a trilogy.

I'm hoping as well, who wouldn't want a trilogy? of course, that will make the fight more interesting, and I'm pretty sure that the promoters are already expecting a big profit on that as the fight are hyped up due to the result of the rematch. If that will happen, I guess Anacajas will gain full confidence and I wouldn't be surprise that he will be the betting favorite.

Its good to know that there's a rematch because this is the chance for Ancajas to regain the world title again. In their last fight, Ancajas is lacking of defense and power punches, it seems like he's not in good condition or should I say not prepared at that time. Well, I hope he will redeem himself because he is just starting to establish his name and not yet had a strong opponent aside from Martinez.

He really needs to put his heart and be motivated to get back what he had lost in their last fight to gain back the momentum of his life to push his dream to become a legendary boxer like Manny Pacquiao. Anyway, this is really a big fight for him and I'm sure he trained a lot to get ready for this fight and we might gonna see a different version of him, stronger and have some good strategy on how to beat Martinez, hope that it will work for him.
This is another opportunity for him to prove that he deserved to be the champion and no one else. Although he had lost from Martinez in their previous game, but if he can improve his skills and prepare himself more to gain back what he lost, i think it will help him beat Martinez this time. This is a big fight for Ancajas and all Filipinos are all set to support him, so he should make them proud by bringing home the bacon this time.

Actually Ancajas is not from Cebu though he is a bisdak but he came from General Santos if I'm not mistaken, mate. I also don't remember if he was once based in Cebu because if you are a champion boxer and based in Cebu, every little thing that happens to your life will be in the local news here but i have not heard anything about him locally  Smiley.
He was born and raised in Panabo Davao, so he is not in Cebu for sure, he is close to gensan as some of his fights are in gensan, his early fights.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerwin_Ancajas

Another boxer like Manny Pacquiao, the pride of Gensan, so winning the rematch would raise the flag of the Phlippines again.
Right now, there's not much  interest for the fans since Pacquiao has already retired, so we need one that will remain as a champion for long.

I'm rooting for Ancajas, hoping he will be a champ again.
No odds yet, but for sure Ancajas will be the underdog but a slight underdog only. If you believe that he will bounce back after a big loss, then I'm sure you would be happy seeing an odds high than +200 as definitely that's what you will be seeing as it will be available.

I agree with you mate, for sure Ancajas will be the slight underdog in this rematch and this may a good opportunity for all Ancajas' supporters to place their bets as he will be giving his all in this fight to take back the belt once he owned.

The fight will happen two months from now and per history, bookies will place the odds for the fight of this magnitude three to two days before it happens.

What do you think, will Ancajas get his revenge and bring back the belt to the Philippines or Martinez will dominate him again? I want to put some spare money for Ancajas though but I'm not that really sure if he can really manage after I looked into their first encounter because it seems that Ancajas was really struggling. I'll be happy to know your thoughts about this mate Grin

I have a gut feeling that Ancajas would avenge his loss but it is not going to be easy as Martinez is now very confident after beating him. The only aspect that i see why Ancajas lost that fight is he was a victim of a replacement spell  Grin. He was training for Ioka but suddenly he was replaced so the mindset of Ancajas might have been affected and he might also taken for granted the capability of Martinez as he was fighting in the lower division than him.

Bottomline, I would be rooting for Ancajas because of his talent, he would not be called the Pretty Boy of the Philippines for nothing and also Philippines needs someone like him to raised the flag of the nation in boxing but then again it would not be an easy path to glory.

Really? I didn't know that, I mean I know Jerwin Ancajas because he is from Cebu but I didn't had the chance to follow his fights and haven't know that Martinez was only a replacement for Ioka.

Now, that paints the picture more clearly why Ancajas was defeated in the first place because part of the reason is that he's preparing for Ioka and not for Martinez. I believe that he will successfully avenge his loss in their first encounter and maybe after that we can have some speculations that these two will have a trilogy and that would be fun to watch.

Saying those as a reason why Jerwin loses on their first match seems not acceptable. He should always prepare once there's an upcoming fight and be in his good health condition as possible not unless he has already an issue during the practice or got injured while in practice.

In this rematch, no reason should rise again. He needs to win at any cost as this rematch is his ticket to redeem himself on that loss. From now on, losing is not an option to chase the title he wants to get. Like other said here, a possible 3rd match might be next in line if Jerwin wins in this rematch.

Yeah, perhaps a trilogy will be in the horizon if Ancajas win and fans wants more of this matchup. Maybe the picture is that Martinez leads in the scorecard and then Ancajas hit his patented power and knock out Martinez for good to get his belt back.

That will be a scenario waiting for a trilogy to happen. And for Jerwin, he really need to bounce back here, we can call this a 'necessary victory' that needed and before a winner takes all 3rd fight is to happen.

That's the logical thing that might happen if Jerwin Ancajas can bounce back and go for the win on this rematch. You are correct that Ancajas really need to win here or else, the future is not bright for him. If successfully won the rematch, Martinez's camp will surely ask for a possible trilogy and that's where they will settle their book on its final chapter.  Lots of adjustments that Ancajas needs especially on his conditioning. We have seen the gap in their performance in their first match where Martinez almost dictates the fight and controlled the majority of the rounds. If that happened again, Ancajas is in big trouble.

On the bright side though, since Ancajas knows already his flaws in their first match, that will fuel him to become a better and improved one in their rematch. Martinez might be comfortable at that match since he already beat Jerwin and probably one of the reasons I can think of for him losing that match.

It's more than a month, hopefully there's no major things would happen that will hindrance of making this fight to happen.

There should be no things that can delay this fight. It's all push and just waiting for the big date.

What we should care about is not those possible hindrances that can delay the fight but instead, let's hope that Jerwin Ancajas is on 100% condition on this match. He shouldn't allow the same result on their 1st to happen again.

If he failed to win in this rematch, such a waste of opportunity for his age. He's still young but at 30 years, will probably be back at the bottom if he loses this match. Being optimistic is good but that's not enough to win the fight.

^^ We gonna support him no matter what, if he losses again, then so be it. But if by chance he avenge his defeat then he could obviously get the belt back and win it for the Philippines again.

And if they see their mistakes in the first fight and let Ancajas box the way he wants then maybe we can see him winning but it will be a tough battle for sure. As you have said, Martinez now has the confidence an wanted to show that it's no fluke taking the belt from Ancajas.

That confidence will be gone if Ancajas will bounce back and beat him. Well, we can also expect a trilogy as it's not fair if Ancajas will say not for another fight after he beats Martinez, and for me, that will make their rivalry exciting to follow.

Well hopefully, Ancajas wins the rematch before we can talk about the trilogy, (but is it included in the contract, that is the big question).

So we will see if Ancajas, his defense of the belt has been halted by Martinez, can start a new successful defense of the belt. Or if he will have to go up in weight, if the cramps story is true, then there could be some problems when he is trying to lose that weight.

No more cramps story, that isn't a good excuse, it's very common, he just have to accept his defeat and correct his mistakes if there's any so he could come back with a big win. Well, if there's no trilogy in the contract, at least give Martinez the last fight as a sign of respect, provided Ancajas will win.

No odds yet, but for sure Ancajas will be the underdog but a slight underdog only. If you believe that he will bounce back after a big loss, then I'm sure you would be happy seeing an odds high than +200 as definitely that's what you will be seeing as it will be available.

I should have some spare money dedicated for this fight, this is a big fight, a chance for Ancajas to be champion again and I know he feels the pressure since we are losing Filipino champions and if he cannot reclaim the belts he loses, that's not good for our country. I'm checking from time to time to my bookie hoping odds will be out early.
