I'm rooting for Ancajas, hoping he will be a champ again.
No odds yet, but for sure Ancajas will be the underdog but a slight underdog only. If you believe that he will bounce back after a big loss, then I'm sure you would be happy seeing an odds high than +200 as definitely that's what you will be seeing as it will be available.

The first fight odds.  (result was a huge upset)
Quote
Fernando Martinez +400
Jerwin Ancajas -600

Whatever the reason is, that will not excuse him to get away from that defeat he got in their first encounter and it might be just good for Ancajas if he will just admit that he didn't expect Martinez to be that good that's why he lost the fight and it's somehow clear that his stamina is not keeping up in the late rounds too. Maybe this time they can score a win and bring back the championship belt to the Philippines.

Yes, agree too that it's irrelevant to have such excuses why a boxer loses because of a bad condition.

Take the example of the Featherweight Title match between Gary Russell Jr. who is the champion at that time against Mark Magsayo of the Philippines. Russel is clearly not in good shape as he is suffering from a shoulder injury but decided to continue with the match. After he lose the title to Magsayo, never did he make excuses about him being in a bad shape why he lose but instead, will promise to get back strong to take a chance again on the title.

Anyway, did Ancajas really mention that he loses because of that cramps or whatever reason? If yes, then that's a big problem since he doesn't recognize the strength of Fernando Martinez as he is just pointing out his disadvantage on that night where he loses.

Ancajas should just admit his defeat and recognize that Martinez overwhelmed him as we could really see the difference if we look back at their fight, he didn't use his own height and reach advantage that's why Martinez was able to move freely towards Ancajas. I hope this time there will be a difference in his performance and that he'll do everything to redeem his loss and the belt because he will be embarrassed again if he will be defeated in their rematch as Martinez camp will surely do everything to improve their boxer.
Jerwin should go back to his basic and not change his style. I noticed that he tried too hard on the first fight against Martinez that it wasn't the Jerwin that we used to know and maybe that is the reason why he lost the fight. But since he will have a rematch, let this be a big lesson for them. Focus on the fighter itself, not the new style that you want to show your fans. He needs to be in control of the fight from the first round and dictate the tempo.
Not necessary that the will KO his opponent, just make sure he would survive and will hit more than getting hit as that's the only way to win. Who knows, if he win this rematch, we might see a Trilogy of these champions. I'm rooting for Ancajas, hoping he will be a champ again.

I guess it's just second nature to combative sports athletes to make excuses, I mean everyone is in all facets of life.

The thing is that if this is true then Ancajas should recognized it, make the necessary changes in their second fight. The Gary Russell fight is different though, because he is really injured by proceeded to go and fight Magsayo. As compare to this scenario wherein it was during the fight that the leg cramps sets in. So his team by now know what went wrong with his training, and they need to avoid that. For sure Ancajas see Martinez strength and doesn't want to recognized it perhaps and just wanted to get his revenge.

Its good to know that there's a rematch because this is the chance for Ancajas to regain the world title again. In their last fight, Ancajas is lacking of defense and power punches, it seems like he's not in good condition or should I say not prepared at that time. Well, I hope he will redeem himself because he is just starting to establish his name and not yet had a strong opponent aside from Martinez.

He really needs to put his heart and be motivated to get back what he had lost in their last fight to gain back the momentum of his life to push his dream to become a legendary boxer like Manny Pacquiao. Anyway, this is really a big fight for him and I'm sure he trained a lot to get ready for this fight and we might gonna see a different version of him, stronger and have some good strategy on how to beat Martinez, hope that it will work for him.
Martinez was the stronger fighter on their first fight, you can tell  that Ancajas has loss his stamina in the later rounds, reason why he cannot keep up with the challenger. Bouncing back after a big loss is possible, he should also look for a KO, that way it will give him an impressive win.

The excuse that Ancajas gave is that he experience some cramps early and that's why he seems to be out shape and others see him losing his stamina in the later round.

I'm not expert in sports medicine, but the first thing we learn is that if we feeling cramps in legs then we might think that he did over train and put strain on his legs or he is dehydrated due to losing a lot of weight to make the cut. Hopefully his team will fix it so that he can recover and get back his title.

Yes, what he can do now is strategize how to get the belt and no more excuses.
As he already experienced Martinez inside the ring, he should know how to counter-attack the next time around.
However, remember that Martinez' camp is also doing their training and thinking of strategies.
So they really need to prepare and study all the possible angles, because once inside the ring, we will know if he is indeed prepared for this.

Personally, I'm inclined to believe that Jerwin Ancajas has the potential on bringing glory again to the Philippines in the world of boxing because he has the tools, he just needs to be focused more on training and not be too confident because that might be the reason on his loss to Martinez in their first outing.

I believe that Jerwin can redeem that loss earlier this year in their first encounter, he just needed to utilize his height and reach advantage to make Martinez struggle rather than go in a head to head fight and exchanging blows without thinking thoroughly where Martinez has the advantage because the man is a heavy hitter as long as you're in his radius.

They have the same excuse as Manny Pacquiao, he also had the same problem when he fought Ugas that's why he cannot move like his usual. Well, good thing Ancajas was given a 2nd chance, for sure there's no excuses here regardless of the outcome.

Yes, same thoughts, why are this Filipino boxers experiencing leg cramps during fight? And it's true, this is due to the body not having enough fluids. But their team should now that they have to rehydrate after the weigh-in, and they have 24 hours to do that. I even see some boxers having fluids taken right after the weigh-in because they know or someone from their team may have advise them that after making the weight, they should take the necessary fluids to bring back the body to normal.

I think it's something that their team should focus on because it affects the whole gameplay of the fighter. Ancajas has a huge potential to win over this match only if he'll have a better defense and would try hard to familiarize the movements of his opponents so he'll know how to counter it. Filipino boxers aren't lucky this year so I hope Ancajas would bring home a new title.

Though this is not a big fight for everyone but I think this is big for Filipino boxing fans out there because this is the chance that the Philippines can capture a belt in boxing once again.

That is not an excuse, he was the champion, and he should be ready every time he fights, so now, he is given a chance to redeem what he lost, he should never waste this opportunity. @Op, how about some poll here although obviously, Ancajas will get most of the votes.

Based on the previous fight, both fighters can receive each other's power blows really well.  So I think the one who is more conditioned in the fight will be the winner.  I am also wondering why Ancajas doesn't use his reach advantage over Martinez in their previous fight.  His camp should have known this and has taken advantage of the reach advantage of Ancajas.  Hopefullym this time Ancajas corner can make use of their arsenal really well.

Although it was a one sided fight on their first meeting, I think I will still support Jerwin Ancajas and hope that he will be able to make the right adjustment in this rematch. I like to believe that Jerwin as a Filipino warrior will not allow himself not to be able to bounce back and be a champion again.

What are the betting odds of this fight?

It was a brawl, and not really a one-sided fight, it's that Martinez landed more punches.

There are too many good names in the division for so many years and it is sad that Jerwin never fought at least one of them. People thought it was Bob Arum's fault but then it is a fact that Jerwin now with Al Haymon still fought zero big names in the division.
I just this lost derailed what might have been big fights being set on him by PBC, like Roman "Chocolatito", Estrada or Ioka.
Maybe the problem there is that all the big names in the division are fighting in DAZN. It was fun seeing Chocolatito, Estrada, Rungvisai, and Cuadras facing each other. Poor Ancajas was left behind. Cheesy And then lost his belt to a nobody. So I'm hoping for him to retake that belt once again. Then he can try to challenge the big names in the division or move up in weight.

I was not aware that Jerwin has left Bob Arum's TR and decided to be a PBC fighter. And not sure if it is a good move as Arum might have a good bunch of fighters in this division or at least on the next.

And now that he is not a champion, but hoping that he can get the belt, it's going to be a precarious situation as Jerwin must make this fight. And I can't figure it out what will be his move when he lost this fight again. He was really a good champion and still at his prime so maybe he will just have to dedicate himself again and bounce back.

Yes, it was really very surprising and at the same time frustrating that Jerwin lost to a no name fighter. He had this belt for so long and has fought a lot of tougher opponents. So we don't know what really happen, except to accept it, and then move on and hopefully he can bounce back and prove that it was a fluke lost.

What are the betting odds of this fight?

I check the odds on crypto sports bookies and haven't seen any yet. But I will speculate that maybe Jerwin will still be the favorite to win, perhaps a slight odd advantage on his favor.
