Although it was a one sided fight on their first meeting, I think I will still support Jerwin Ancajas and hope that he will be able to make the right adjustment in this rematch. I like to believe that Jerwin as a Filipino warrior will not allow himself not to be able to bounce back and be a champion again.

What are the betting odds of this fight?

this is the chance of ancajas to redeem all the recent losses of filipino boxers. more than couple of months of preparation, and i guess, that's more than enough to form their strategies and have their full pack training. with the hunger of redemption, i think, i will bet on ancajas here.
usually, if the fight is not so big, the odds will be out 1 or 2 weeks before the fight, so we may not be seeing the odds this month.

Or just days before the fight before we see those odds. But I would agree that this is somewhat a redeem not just for Ancajas, but for the Filipino boxers who lost their belt this year. He has all the tools in his arsenal no doubt, he just have to believed that he can get back his belt from Fernando Martinez. Ancajas is still in his prime, most of the time, it's good for boxers to suffer a defeat so that they will go back and vindicate themselves.
I think we all agree that this could be the great revenge of the Filipino boxers, of course nothing beats the great Legend Pacquiao, however I think Ancajas has a very good preparation and with everything he has prepared I think he can do a great fight against Martinez. , but do not underestimate Martinez, this boxer brings it to him, he has great intelligence and usually manages time very well, apart from having good technical marking and this can make the difference between both boxers, I think that one of the things that can To help Ancajas is that he is very thirsty for victory, and at this point he already knows how he could fight Martinez.

There are too many good names in the division for so many years and it is sad that Jerwin never fought at least one of them. People thought it was Bob Arum's fault but then it is a fact that Jerwin now with Al Haymon still fought zero big names in the division.
I just this lost derailed what might have been big fights being set on him by PBC, like Roman "Chocolatito", Estrada or Ioka.
Maybe the problem there is that all the big names in the division are fighting in DAZN. It was fun seeing Chocolatito, Estrada, Rungvisai, and Cuadras facing each other. Poor Ancajas was left behind. Cheesy And then lost his belt to a nobody. So I'm hoping for him to retake that belt once again. Then he can try to challenge the big names in the division or move up in weight.

However, is Ancajas really ready for this rematch? I don't know what kind of adjustment he will do but I will trust his camp to do their very best to make Ancajas fit and 100% prepared for this rematch. They should learn from the first fight.
I think Ancajas is more than ready. He only needs to fight the way he is. He should stop trying to impress the fans by trading bombs because that's not him. Ancajas is a safety-first fighter and that's his specialty, he better sticks to it if he wants to become champion again.

I believe that bookmakers will give Martinez as a favorite, maybe even put an odd of @1.60 for Martinez to win. be how I'm going to bet on martinez in this fight

Yeah, maybe that will change because Martinez is the champion now.

Their first match, here's the odds.
Quote

Ancajas (33-1-2), who is making his 10th title defense, is the clear odds-on favorite in Las Vegas’ books at -600 while Martinez is at +400.

Let's just wait for the betting odds to be available, it's good if Martinez odds is 1.60 only as that's still a good odds for those who believe that Martinez will be declared as the winner once again.

I'm sure Jervin Ancajas will win this fight.  It is possible that Jervin will win via technical knockout.

for that to happen it would need the martinez to decay a lot in its form. looking at their first fight I don't see martinez losing, fighters when they go to a revenge they always tend to use emotion because they lost in the first fight, even if they are professional fighters they lose concentration because they are too focused on not wanting to suffer another defeat again

Personally, I'm inclined to believe that Jerwin Ancajas has the potential on bringing glory again to the Philippines in the world of boxing because he has the tools, he just needs to be focused more on training and not be too confident because that might be the reason on his loss to Martinez in their first outing.

Fernando Martinez has a fighting style that reminds me of bruce lee movies, when he's close to the opponent he can throw more than 3 or 4 quick punches consecutively making him hit the opponent's face that way he has a good attack and good technique, Martinez also moves his legs very fast, he is very skilled, whereas in the last fight against martinez it seemed that he was too slow on his feet, for him to win this time he needs to be faster and have a lot of resistance to tire the Martinez who can throw a lot of punches and not show that he's tired. it will be a fight in which for me Martinez will win once again

No odds yet but I'll post it here once available.

Judging from the first fight he should not do what he did and do something new to surprise Martinez, Martinez has already measured him he has taken every big punch Ancajas can ditch off, I noticed in their last fight that he is looking for one punch, he should not do that and just take every minute and fight a good fight forget that one big punch, it will come when the opportunity opens up

Ancajas should also not think that he needs to win because PH has not many active champions currently. He should focus on winning not for that purpose.
There is a new Filipino world champion in Apolinario he just knocked out Buthelezi in round one to win the IBO world flyweight title I hope the Philippines can have one more champion in Ancajas.

Oh! he is given a chance to re-match with the opponent who beat him last time? I think this one here is likely we need to watch since both fighters already gauged each other's strength where they can take each other's punches that's why they even reached the final round in their last fight. Seems like we will gonna see some real clash in the ring with these two powerful punchers and might be their last chance to show us some rivalry fight.

I'm sure Jervin Ancajas will win this fight.  It is possible that Jervin will win via technical knockout.

Yes, Jerwin lost the last fight to Martinez.  Everyone knows about it.

However, this was a random event.  Gerwin was just in really bad shape.  In addition, he lacked aggressiveness and psychological attitude to win to win.  He probably underestimated Martinez.  He was sure of his easy victory.  However, he is a more experienced fighter than Martinez.  had many successful fights with professional boxers.  He has a great knockout punch.

Plus, he's left-handed.  A left-handed opponent is always uncomfortable for a right-handed boxer (this is a very important advantage in a fight).
well , yeah he might not in right shape that time  and he losses the fight with random outcome , and I am also respecting this boxer , though Martinez is also one of the toughest in this division so this will be a great rematch .
I wish that Jervin will also win this fight so there will be a decision 3rd fight.

Yes, Martinez is certainly a worthy opponent.  They don't call him the Little Puma for nothing.  This nickname he received for his speed and swiftness in battle.

The Argentine boxer has not lost a single fight in his entire boxing career.  He's not used to losing boxing matches.  He did not have as many strong and professional opponents as Jerwin Ancajas.  However, he knows how to psychologically tune in to the upcoming battle.

This is a very valuable boxing skill.....

I think it will be a very interesting fight.  I look forward to it!

There was a rematch clause in the contract if Jerwin lost. After the fight, I wanted Jerwin to activate the rematch clause right away. But after the fight, Jerwin's camp already mentioned not to exercise the rematch clause because they needed to move up in weight. So this is surprising to me, but I am happy.

Thanks for the information as I'm surprised too that a rematch was negotiated right away.

As Ancajas already experienced to fight Martinez inside the ring,
he or his team should know how to strategize this re-match.
Filipinos for sure will be rooting for Ancajas, but the team should be well-prepared for this fight.
More than couple of months of preparation I believe is enough to form a very good strategy.

You might be right but on the other hand, Martinez camps also know the experienced of fighting Ancajas and even beating him therefore they know more about how to do it again as they already pointed out Ancajas' flaws and weaknesses. What will they do now is to keep improving the strategy done on the first match.

Ancajas was badly beaten at the first meeting and even though I want to support him in this rematch, let's accept the fact that a few months after their last fight is not enough to see an improvement. No choice but to trust and support him though as his fellow countrymen.

Though this is not a big fight for everyone but I think this is big for Filipino boxing fans out there because this is the chance that the Philippines can capture a belt in boxing once again.

My heart is for Ancajas he is my countryman and the country has no champion right now after so many years there's a big load on Ancajas to deliver a win, but he is against a very tough Martinez who has not only given him a very tough fight but beat him decisively, his training camp must change the approach on facing Martinez on their first meeting he has no lateral movement just waiting for Martinez to come, but Martinez is just too quick he can not counter punch because of Martinez's speed.
Speed and quickness should be the main focus of the team now.

If Jerwin sticks to his normal fighting style then he should win this rematch. He should stop brawling because he is naturally a technical fighter. If he wants to entertain his fans, he rather develops more movements, more pop to his punches, and works with his combinations.

Yep, be just a technical fighter that he was known to be. But he chooses to brawl against Martinez. And it's obvious that he is not a volume puncher in this fight as he was really out landed by Martinez. Even in the last round when he knows that he needed a knock out to win. He was somewhat timid and doesn't want to engage.

I just this lost derailed what might have been big fights being set on him by PBC, like Roman "Chocolatito", Estrada or Ioka.

He was badly beaten in the first fight, it was not a boring fight but Ancajas going toe to toe is not the right strategy. As we can see in their last fight, Martinez was the stronger and was even the faster guy, Ancajas has to carefully make a good game plan in order for him to win, maybe a one punch KO will give him a great chance, just do the right timing and also don't forget to improve his stamina, he needs that in case he won't win by KO.

Just like everybody's fight analysis.
I am expecting a big adjustments for Ancajas in this rematch. I am expecting he have learned something on that first outing against Martinez. Going to toe to toe isn't a good option for him. He should learn how to use his height and reach advantage. I know this could be an easier fight for him if he uses his boxing IQ.

Ancajas' team is quite lacking in terms of the tools and equipment to give him proper training. Hopefully someone will take him under their wing to provide him with the necessary training and equipment for him to get the best out of his skills and his technical abilities. Most of the boxers here in the Philippines have the chance to be the next Manny Pacquiao only if they got the proper training that they needed to level up their game. Then again, it depends on the will and determination of the fighter in the end. The last loss of Ancajas isn't really pleasing given that he lost to an underdog. Hopefully he bounces back and proves himself to the world stage again.

Exactly, this should be enough that he will motivated and bring the glory to PH boxing again.

He was not supposed to lose in the first fight, however,  maybe he was just having a bad night that time that he can't recover and seems to be out of tune against Martinez. Fernando is tough no doubt but I think if Ancajas will focus and not look for that knock out punch, he can outslug him late and could win in the scorecard.

Being motivated is good but it only fuels his will to fight but not his overall strength. Being just brave, courageous, and determined, are all useless if his body can't keep up with the physical blows he will encounter in the fight. He should focus on improving his sturdiness to make his withstanding skills much stronger while working out for a much strong punch or any offensive type.

Being defeated by the underdog in their first match takes a heavy effect on Ancajas.

We can't disregard what happened to him in their first match. That needs lots of improvements for the same result not to happen again.

I agree, we can't take out from the equation that he was defeated by the huge underdog in the first fight. But to be a great boxer or even to be put on the elite level, he has to motivate himself and avenge his lost. Filipino boxing legends such as Elorde, Pacquiao and Nonito has that kind of mentality that's why they were able to stay in the game for so long.

So that is up to Jerwin, he need to be have the advantage in the mind game as well and I do hope he had that in the rematch and be influence in a positive way with that lost.
