Though this is not a big fight for everyone but I think this is big for Filipino boxing fans out there because this is the chance that the Philippines can capture a belt in boxing once again.
Does this boxing fight have an element of revenge, after Fernando defeated Jerwin last February, maybe Jerwin was disappointed that he couldn't go to bantamweight or Jerwin wanted to show that now he has performed well, it was proven yesterday that Jerwin had a bad performance in the boxing fight in Las Vegas yesterday.

I hope if it's true that they both return to the ring, especially for Jerwin not to disappoint his fans in the Philippines, maybe Jerwin's fans don't want to hear the reason Jerwin's leg cramps are so disappointing.

I hope Jerwin is more professional against Fernando, next October 8, if he wants to win the title again.

I have a feeling though that Ancajas would reclaim the belt he once held as Filipinos are all going to watch this fight, that will serve as his motivation to bring glory/belt to the nation who loved boxing and basketball.

A painful year for the Philippines in the boxing world as we currently don't have any PH title holders now. Might be a good motivation for Jerwin Ancajas to become more aggressive but if only his first performance against Martinez is close and toe-to-toe, I can bet that he might have a chance for the title.

He was clearly outscored back then and it just shows that he is having a hard time with Martinez.

But even with that mindset of mine, there's no way I will support Martinez and my bet will always be on Ancajas.

Well, this is rematch right? The previous fought were really one-sided and I doubt Ancajas will make a different result. What I think is Ancajas is angry due to his first lost and he let his emotional to fight against Martinez again.

Perhaps it was like what Kambosos felt when he lost to Haney that's why he immediately activated that rematch clause?

But this is different though, Ancajas was the clear favorite and he was upset, and that's why maybe his emotions getting the better of himself or he knows that he was really not at his best that time and knows what to do and what to adjust in rematch. So he is at risk at really falling in the rankings if he lose this one again and might take sometime to revive his career again.

Ancajas is a victim of a "replacement spell" lol.

Kidding aside, I think his mindset going into the fight with Martinez was not too firm, I mean he was training for a fight against Ioka but suddenly he was replaced due to covid restrictions in Japan so that might contribute to his loss to Martinez. Though the announcement was a month before the fight but i think that was not enough to study Martinez.

I have a feeling though that Ancajas would reclaim the belt he once held as Filipinos are all going to watch this fight, that will serve as his motivation to bring glory/belt to the nation who loved boxing and basketball.

Jerwin Ancajas had the right to a rematch and it's good that he took advantage of it and the fight will take place, and it's hard to give preference to any of the boxers in advance, despite the vast experience of Ancajas professional fights, it seems to me Martinez acts more effectively.

Exactly, this should be enough that he will motivated and bring the glory to PH boxing again.

He was not supposed to lose in the first fight, however,  maybe he was just having a bad night that time that he can't recover and seems to be out of tune against Martinez. Fernando is tough no doubt but I think if Ancajas will focus and not look for that knock out punch, he can outslug him late and could win in the scorecard.

Being motivated is good but it only fuels his will to fight but not his overall strength. Being just brave, courageous, and determined, are all useless if his body can't keep up with the physical blows he will encounter in the fight. He should focus on improving his sturdiness to make his withstanding skills much stronger while working out for a much strong punch or any offensive type.

Being defeated by the underdog in their first match takes a heavy effect on Ancajas.

We can't disregard what happened to him in their first match. That needs lots of improvements for the same result not to happen again.

We'll see another slugfest between Fernando Martinez and Ancajas, but Martinez is just too good and not afraid of Ancaja's power he slugs it out and pours a lot of power punches I have a hard time watching those punches land on Ancaja's face, his face was all messed up I thought they both need a long rest after the hard beating they gave to each other Ancajas suffer the most from their encounter.
I hope Ancajas will find a way to hurt and counter Martinez, he needs to move a lot and counter a lot, Martinez just throws those haymakers on Ancajas without any defense.

wide margin defeat doesn't look good. when i watch it today on youtube,  it was a slugfest and Ancajas turned into a brawler. they didn't find someone else to fight boost Jerwin's confidence but went straight ahead. hope he wins this time. he seem willing and if he loses, he can move up weight class after all he had been in this division for a long time there are more opportunity above.
It's not the right time to move the next weight class e.g. bantamweight since currently the champions are only Naoya Inoue and Paul Butler, he need to wait until Inoue become undisputed champion and the other belts will be vacant for other next boxers. Fight against Naoya Inoue will just make his record bad since he completely can't make an upset.

Hopefully Jerwin can stop the bleeding for us, if I'm my memory serves me right, his fight started the long stretches this year, losing all our Filipino champions hehehe.
I hope he will be the one that stops that we have a lot of great boxers but they are struck by bad lucks and bad decision

He was one of the best champion, he had that belt for 8 years, since 2014, and then suddenly he lost as a favorite against Fernando Martinez. I just imagine if Ancajas won in the first fight, he could have fought Kazuto Ioka.
This is the scorecard in their first match

Too one-sided and Ancajas will have to do more he'll have to do something that he has not done in their first meeting, do more counter-punching, and engage Vargas in a slugfest, that's the only way to bully the bully.

So let's see, hopefully Ancajas can regain his form in this rematch.
He needs to be in his toughest form this Vargas has the making of a superstar and he can be the one to stop his train.

this is the chance of ancajas to redeem all the recent losses of filipino boxers. more than couple of months of preparation, and i guess, that's more than enough to form their strategies and have their full pack training. with the hunger of redemption, i think, i will bet on ancajas here.
usually, if the fight is not so big, the odds will be out 1 or 2 weeks before the fight, so we may not be seeing the odds this month.

Or just days before the fight before we see those odds. But I would agree that this is somewhat a redeem not just for Ancajas, but for the Filipino boxers who lost their belt this year. He has all the tools in his arsenal no doubt, he just have to believed that he can get back his belt from Fernando Martinez. Ancajas is still in his prime, most of the time, it's good for boxers to suffer a defeat so that they will go back and vindicate themselves.

The first fight is so lopsided Vargas is just too good for Ancajas I don't know the kind of adjustment Ancajas will do to contain Vargas, Vargas is sort of like a machine gun, this fight registered as one of the fights with a lot of punches delivered and connected I like Ancajas to win this fight but he has a slim chance based on what I saw on their first fight, Vargas is just to good for him.

Though this is not a big fight for everyone but I think this is big for Filipino boxing fans out there because this is the chance that the Philippines can capture a belt in boxing once again.

Personally, I'm inclined to believe that Jerwin Ancajas has the potential on bringing glory again to the Philippines in the world of boxing because he has the tools, he just needs to be focused more on training and not be too confident because that might be the reason on his loss to Martinez in their first outing.

No odds yet but I'll post it here once available.
