This turned out to be a really competitive and entertaining fight. Sultan scored 4 knockdowns but only won the decision by 1 point. Caraballo has skills and power but his biggest weakness is his chin. He got dropped whenever Sultan hit him cleanly.

Right, Sultan's durability stood in this fight. As I have said before, Caraballo has power, but he hasn't face a tough opponent like Sultan who has been in the ring with some of the best Filipinos like Casimero and Ancajas.

And then he was exposed to have a weak chin, recipe for a disaster.

Every time Sultan touch that chin, he felt the power.

Congrats to those who tail and bet on Jonas Sultan here.  Grin

Here's the video of the weigh-in:

Right, Jonas seems to be confident in the weigh in and his body looks very prime for a war with Caraballo.

No need for Jonas to trash talk, what's important is that he pulls the biggest win of his career here.

I already put my bet on Jonas here ML>  Grin

Both of them feel very confident, even Caraballo was already acting like a champion.

And he said in the interview that he will proved in this fight that he is one of the best bantamweight right now. Still a long way to go for him to be the best because we have Inoue and Casimero and then Donaire campaigning in this division. But this could be one step for him if he beats a durable Filipino in this fight. And so is the Puerto Rican-Filipino rivalry continues.

Good luck mate, same here.

Jonas looks fit and healthy, I hope they train really hard for this fight and it's not bad to put a little bet on the wonderful odds.

Please have some updates on this thread, I like to see this fight too in live streaming for sure.

putting some satoshis on sultan here because the odds are great. so if there will be upset that's nice profit. will be checking the updates via online, not watching it live. but if there will be free streaming, why not?
you can also check online via live blog updates of some sports analysts. usually, i check those whenever i don't have time to watch live, at least get insights on whats going on

Right, it's good to put some sats on Sultan here, that is a great odds for us.

And what if it he really upsets Caraballo in this fight, a win-win for us. And it will be good to see another Filipino in the bantamweight division and maybe in the future because of this win, he can aligned and fight for the world title. So Jonas better not disappoint his Filipino fans here, Lol.

Sultan isn't a famous boxing champion yet in the Philipines so he must take this chance and opportunity to create a good name so more people would support him because that's what he needs as a new boxer. It's an exciting fight and I hope that he would do his best to win his match tomorrow. Lots of people have bet on him which simply means that many people are rooting for him.

Obviously, Pinoys are going to support him no matter what, specially that he is the underdog here, many are going to root for him to win either by decision, and who knows maybe by knock out.

And if he breaks Caraballo and be the next world champion from the Philippines, then it will be another historic feat for the country. Odds now for Sultan is 4.80 after the weigh-in, so definitely, a lot of boxing affionados are giving this kid a chance. Because it swell as high as 5.50 if I'm not mistaken.

Both are young boxers. There is not much of difference in the performance and this makes the odds to be close. Tomorrow we can have more lucky winners making good win as more and more number of betting options were availed. In all his previous matches Carlos Caraballo have won through technical knockout and knockout. Tomorrows match seems to go close.

Hard to see how this fight will turn out, a experience Sultan and have a granite chin against a young and knock out artist in Caraballo. So it's a tough battle, Sultan's chin will be tested and this is Caraballo stepping up the plate as well.

I would say, let's see in the first couple of rounds, if Sultan become aggressive and tag by powerful punches and if he didn't go down then maybe he can win this fight. But if that chin breaks then Caraballo by knockout and the winning streak continues.

Sultan does not need to do that, he doesn't need to taste the punches of Caraballo if he can avoid them.
Caraballo has already punished his opponents in his last 14 fights and he beat them all by KO, so that would already say how strong his punches are.

Sultan is tough, we all know that but Caraballo is a different opponent, he should use his speed to avoid those power punches.

Sultan is not known to be an aggressive puncher he is a counter puncher who loves to frustrate his opponent that would be his main weapon, I've seen a lot of big punchers having a hard time against opponents who constantly move around and frustrate his opponent, that's what he'll do move around, duck weave and frustrate Caraballo until he gets tired and used up all his best punches.
Sultan is already battle-tested against the like of Ancajas and Casimero, so he'll take care of business, like he always do.

I'm hoping for an upset in tomorrow's fight, this would be Caraballo's acid test thus far and Filipino fighters are dangerous in this kind of situation.

Sportsbet has bigger odds than other bookies I just checked, but regardless 4+ or 5.00 is still good enough if an upset happens tomorrow. Good luck on your bet man, we are on the same side, I just love underdogs especially if a fighter has a blood of a true warrior.

@Kemarit - but he is not as brandish as Casimero though, and he still needs to win this fight if he wanted to be the next Casimero.

Sultan needs to win more fights other than this one to be well known in the Philippines. This fight is not a world title fight and Caraballo is not a champion yet so this does not attract attention to non-hardcore boxing fans. The only feather on the cap of Sultan is that he was one of whom defeated Casimero.

And he doesn't do trashtalking maybe that's not his style and Casimero is the only Filipino I know of doing this kind of hype. I'm sure Filipino fans are excited now after the weigh-in, because it's going to be just 24 hours before the fight and I'm sure some of us here have put a bet on Jonas to pull an upset.

There are slight changes in the odds of this fight.

As of this writing per Sportsbet odds.

Caraballo 1.16
Sultan 5.00

That's the only odds available for now, but maybe we will see more as the fight is nearing.

He is better than Casimero he beats Casimero by a unanimous decision and frustrates Casimero with his style, that's what he is going to do with Caraballo, he knows how to fight a hard puncher, Sultan is a very good counter puncher and had a good head and body movement, something that I have not seen on fighters that Caraballo fought, I have Sultan winning by a knockout or decision although he is an underdog.

And the name though, seems from a Hollywood movie who is a tough guy, Lol.
Kidding aside, I like his chances here against Caraballo, he has been with great Filipino and even other nations in his boxing career. So this Caraballo might be a knock out artist, but Sultan has faces a lot of knock out artist too and he didn't even go down or lose in a knock out. So he is durable so not sure if Caraballo can crack his chin.

Yep Caraballo is very strong and his range is quite good. it would be great if the sultan could compensate by avoiding the punches released by the caraballo.
but it's also going to be difficult because avoiding it all the time isn't the right thing to do.
even though the sultan is very agile and quite fast but surely as each round goes on the fatigue will be felt a lot and he must really think about how to overcome this

Isn't just me or Sultan looks Casimero here in the weigh-in?

http://philboxing.com/news/story-159270.html

Anyhow, both of them was able to make the weight in their fight so it still still a go. And Jonas Sultan's body is also built like Casimero, but with more muscles and shredded. Makes me think that he can absorb those power can Caraballo and maybe we can see him winning by knockout here.

Pretty nice odds for Jonas Sultan. I'll be waiting for more market on that fight, probably more hours and we will see the odds for per round.

I would still take the ML though, it's 5.80 and I think Filipino fighter here will give a good fight against the undefeated Caraballo.

How bookies see Sultan is very undervalued, so it's an opportunity to take.

I agree, the ML is very attractive not to put a bet on it, even a few sats won't hurt our chances to support the Filipino fighter here.

It's because sport bookies haven't heard Sultan, and he has losses already if I'm not mistaken. Then he is facing this Puerto Rican who has a lot of hype and knock out artist and undefeated. But this kind of value is what we wanted for an underdog, and if ever Sultan wins here then it's good money to us.

This is indeed a very good chance to bet on Sultan if your guts is saying he has the chance here.
The odds are great for him because it seems most bookies are highly favoring Caraballo here.
So if in case upset will happen, you have just multiplied your bet more than 5x.
Now, this is interesting to watch if Sultan can indeed pull an upset.
