^^ Chin doesn't change though, your styles will evolved, but your chin doesn't. Just look at Amir Khan, he has known to be have a china chin and it didn't improved even if he is trained by famed coach Roach back in the days. They say they did train his neck, but we've seen that he still have that chin that when anyone touches he will go down or knock out. So if Magsayo landed on his chin perfectly and with good power, he might go down for good.

Amir Khan probably has the weakest chin among boxers who became champions. That was his weakness so his journey now has probably ended despite the fact that he has not announced his retirement yet. Well, Magsayo has to be quick and has a good strategy to set up Vargas well to see an open looks for a solid punch, I'm looking forward to that.

Rey Vargas says that he knows Magsayo's power, so he is looking to counter him in their fight.

Quote
“This is going to be exciting combat from start to finish. We know that he has great power, but we’ll be ready to counter that, and anything else he brings to the ring. This is going to be a magnificent fight and I can’t wait to step in there and compete.”

Can he effectively counter a puncher? what if he was suddenly hits by that left hook that knock out a lot og great boxers?

I'm pump for this fight already, watching Magsayo's highlights and with that raw power, I'm thinking that he will have a good chance to score a knock out.

Vargas has been knock out throughout his career, and you know what punch it is? Left hook. And that is Rey's favourite weapon.

So just in case that land flush on Vargas, he will either knock out or will get up but not in steady legs and that is the time that Magsayo can finished him. Vargas is known to be a brawler, so not sure how can he suddenly become a counter puncher overnight.

And if my memory serves me right, a Filipino gave Vargas his first knock down of his career, his name is Silverter Lopez in 2014. He might have a weak spot for left hookers, but Vargas has a good recuperating power that's why he was able to get back from the canvass and beat those who score a knock down from him. So Mark should not be satisfied if ever he score a knock down because Vargas will recover. So very important to make a follow up and then finished Rey.

That was a long time ago, for sure lots have changed already on this boxer and I'm sure he will give Magsayo a tough challenge. I always believe on Magsayo, but on this fight, I have a feeling that everything is not going to be easy but as long as he continues to work and go for a KO, maybe he will get the right timing to hit Vargas and KO him.

Though there are no official odds for this fight yet I think Magsayo is the underdog for the reason that he is not tested yet in this kind of situation. Vargas has successfully defended his title in the Junior Featherweight so this might be the reason bookies will put the latter as the favorite because of experience.
It's weird the bookies doesn't have listed this match, probably this is small fight for them and they didn't include it? Many upcoming events like trilogy GGG vs Canelo have been listed on all bookies while the fight will happen 3 months more, while this one around 2 weeks again.
I think maybe they will wait for a few more days to list the bets for this fight, it would be very strange if it didn't list the current fight, especially the one who will fight is not a boxer who can be underestimated.
Maybe the bookies right now still don't see the huge hype for this fight and I still feel that for the last week or at least a few days before the start of the fight this will be listed.
As per my experience with this non profile fights, usually a day before the fight itself. As compare to GGG or Canelo who have been listed already.

Nevertheless, I don't think that sport bookies are going to missed this one. This is a huge fight for Mexican and Filipino fans and there are a lot of online bettors from those countries. Come back maybe July 8 and for sure this is going to be listed.

They will list this fight for sure, but since it's not a popular fight, we cannot expect that bookies will have early odds. Most likely, the odds will be available a week before the fight, in some cases, it can be available a day before the fight, so be patient and we shall see the live odds soon.

That's how the case for divisions that aren't are well known as the others and specially champion like Mark who hasn't put his mark yet in the US market. So maybe 24 hours prior to the fight, we will see the odds listed and we will know who is the favorite because that has been also discussed previously and others say that Magsayo will be the underdog but there are members who doesn't understand Mark being the underdog since he is the champion.

So for me, this first defense against Rey Vargas is very important to show to all the fans that his win against Russell was not a fluke and he deserves the respect of the boxing community.
I'm not really convinced yet even Magsayo will beat Rey Vargas because Vargas isn't really in his prime condition, he only fought once time for the previous 2 years. The last 7 fights Vargas only won via decision, proving him doesn't have same power like when he was 20'.

Probably, this will be the difficult fight of Mr. Mark Magsayo against Mr. Vargas, Though Magsayo was the underdog.
But let see what's gonna happen in the actual fight in the ring. For now its just an speculations in the different people
who are waiting for this fight scene for the coming of July 09. Just all I know for now both fighters are giving their best in the
training to win in the battle.

Starting from Julio Ceja, every fight of Mark Magsayo were difficult ones and in that Russell fight he was the underdog on that one and many believe that if not for his injury of Russell, Magsayo could have lost that fight.

So for me, this first defense against Rey Vargas is very important to show to all the fans that his win against Russell was not a fluke and he deserves the respect of the boxing community.

Yes, being listed on either favorite or underdog won't matter to them as they aren't the ones who put some bet on these bookies. Magsayo being listed as an underdog will be an advantage to our sides as a bettor even if it is just a slight of odds as an underdog will always have the prettier odds than the listed favorite.

Being a champion won't be a basis to become a favorite, I think we already know about that part because we've seen enough champions listed as the underdog.

Just like how it is with Canelo and Bivol, and for those bettors who believes that Magsayo still got a good chance defending his belt that slight difference between the odds is good enough to enjoy if happened that Magsayo win this fight, though fans will always be there for him, underdog or not they will place their money on him.

Let see how Magsayo will handle this upcoming fight. He needs to work harder to keep his belt..

It will add more hype to his career, very important to make more money from this sport.

We cannot conclude that he is the underdog since the odds are not yet available.

Let's wait until our favorite sportsbook will list this event and then we can tell who is the favorite and the underdog.
if you will ask me, Magsayo should be the favorite here since he is the defending champion, that's pretty basic.

Mark Magsayo will have the first defense of his WBC Featherweight title against undefeated and taller Rey Vargas.

The thing with Vargas, he has defended his WBC super bantamweight belt five times before deciding to move up in weight to face Magsayo which could make him the favorite to win this fight in the bookies IMO.

No odds yet for this fight but i think Rey Vargas will be the favorite so this could be exciting for Filipino fight fans.

^ It's either someone will whisper to them that they are the underdog or his team are into social media (most likely) and they will find it out sooner or later. But it shouldn't matter though, Magsayo should focus on the fight itself and not what analyst or bettors are feeling. Just accept if he will be the underdog, he has the belt to proved that he is a champion anyways. The fight is like a couple of weeks from now and hopefully Magsayo should just peak in time and not overtrain in this fight. That's the only thing that might be a factor for him, maybe he will overtrain because he want to give us fans a good fight.

Yeah, but does it really matter if he is listed as underdog or if his team knows about it? He might probably just smile if the odds is out by now or the day prior to the fight. What is important is that he come to fight and beat Vargas by whatever means. Of course we would like for him to score a knock out, but a decision win is acceptable as well.

No dream is too big and no dreamer is too small
Mark Magsayo will definitely understand and respect the fact if he will really be listed as the underdog in the fight as per sports bookies against Rey Vargas, but I don't that will happen because he's the defending champion. On the other hand, that might be good as his odds are far more greater if he'll be listed as underdog though.

Being the favorite or underdog, both boxers might not bother to think about it. Nothing special for them if they will be listed as either of those. In other words, they don't actually care for bookies' decision in providing odds for them. Clearly, Magsayo as a champion should be the slight favorite regardless of how strong Vargas is.

And besides, they are both undefeated and how come it can be a basis on "who's the stronger between these two"?

For let's say, if ever that bookies will consider Magsayo as an underdog, then it's good for us. Not just here in PH but other countries might put a bet on Magsayo too as I think it's a rare case where the Champion is an underdog. The fight is just around the corner. We should expect more odds previews in the following weeks to come.

Magsayo being the underdog here will surely take it as a motivation to prove himself more. He's starting to build a good foundation in the industry and being the underdog won't discourage him. Yes, some champions have been underestimated before but turned into victorious giants later on.

I bet he won't know that he's listed as an underdog though because he and his team are really busy behind the curtains doing the trainings to have Magsayo prepare in this upcoming fight, and it won't still matter for him if he'll be informed in anyway. The advantage is on us as a bettor and not to them as getting listed as the favorite is not the indicator that they will win the said fight. Nonetheless, Magsayo got this and I know he'll defend his belt succesfully.
