Manny Pacquiao KO Mattysse in 7th round.

Edit:

Quote
Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur - Eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao (60-7-2, 39 KOs) displayed shades of his former self with a seventh round knockout of Lucas Matthysse (39-5, 36 KOs) to capture the WBA "regular" welterweight title.

For Pacquiao, this was his first bout since July 2017, when he lost a controversial twelve round unanimous decision to Jeff Horn at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Australia.

This was Pacquiao's first stoppage win since 2009, when he put away Miguel Cotto in the twelfth round.

Well he did promise that we will try to KO Lucas if the opportunity persists so he delivered. So Manny definitely still has it although one can argue that he one is facing is already fading. Good paycheck though for Lucas.  Grin

I do not need to badmouth or insult Pacquiao, but I think it can be better for him to concentrate on his profession in politics. he is already 40 years vintage
This thread is made to analyze the fight between Manny and Matthysse, not to say what their age are.

i am afraid that the fight towards Matthysse may be one-sided.

I just watched a news regarding the fight between the two and one analyst said that "If Pacquiao will win in this fight, it will be a decision but if Matthysse will win, it will be a knockout". This shows that Matthysse remained his strength even he is 37 years old already.
Analyzing the fight is just the same here in crypto, you never know what will happen until it happen. I beg to disagree that if Matthysse will win, it will be by a knockout. Manny's style has changed a lot since that Marquez knock out. He is more careful now and that takes away the Pacquiao that we used to see, a reckless, relentless and exciting boxer that  made him famous.

This is the deciding match for Pacquiao too. If he loses in this fight, he will retire but if he win, there is a chance to fight AGAIN. Cheesy.
Styles makes fight. They pick Matthysse to make Manny looks pretty good in this fight. This is some sort of a advertisement fight for his upcoming fight against Crawford which i think the retirement fight for him.

Manny Pacquiao: 146 lbs
Lucas Mattysse: 146.7 lbs.

Its looks like everything is all set. Pacquiao is very trim and his body looks rock solid again. Although the age really shows on the final weigh-in, I think if he hits Mattysee early, he has a good chance to KO him. He looks like rejuvenated and motivated again. So I hope everyone watches the fight and see how Pacquiao perform and we can have a lot of debates after the fight. hehehehe.

@LogitechMouse. Which analyst said that? I reckon he has a talent for stating what is clear and self evident. If he was a cryptocoin analyst, he might be ignored by the bitcoin news media for making very boring predictions hehehe.

Also, why was this fight promoted in Malaysia? Is Manny having problems with the IRS again?

The statement was from a philippine boxing analyst. Actually i am also trying to see his production may really happen. Because the analyst discussed why he assume that if pacman wins it will be a decission basing on his last 4 fights. If i am not mistaken since i can't remmber the exact thing he says. The last time pacman wins a tko was on 2012. Yes pacman can still score KO's but his ability to finish with TKO become so low.

On the other hand what i do like about the statement is that Lucas should KO pacman so he can win the fight else it will be in favor of manny
I think pacman is overrated in this fight, he lost his last fight and he is still the favorites of this fight.
We all know he is not getting any younger, I think it's only the hype that makes him favorites but let's still see what he can bring in the court tomorrow.
As soon as the ring start then we will see how our assessment will bring us, Pacman's supporters are hyping his chances hoping that they can still see their fighter to bring home another glory not for himself but for his land that he representing, the fight might not be the same things as we expected from him but winning still bring joy to many people who still believes on him.

My bold prediction, fight will not go the distance, with Pacman prevailing. I feel Pacman is still an elite fighter that will beat the other top welterweights, Crawford and Spence included. IMHO, his average performance recently is a result of poor training, cramming and overtraining due to his other job, and some complacency too. This time, I think he had more to time to dedicate himself to a better training regimen, with Fortune and Buboy tailoring the training to match his age. Just running up that steep mountain is a sign of a newfound enthusiasm to be better, and his getting back to the heavy bag too.

His average performance in his recent fights was maybe because of poor training or whatsoever but I really don't think it was, for me, the main factor that is missing was the 'killer instinct' that Manny Pacquiao had when he's in his prime, it's sad that's not existing anymore. We all knew that hardwork beats talent but the fighter's urge to knockdown their opponents at all cost is the true power that no coach can teach. I thought Manny got weakeaned by the fame and wealth but I felt it was because of his religion that made him soft inside and outside of the boxing ring.

That is the reason why pacman's fight is still making a lot of money because even if he is already not as young as the current champions. He can still give a very interesting and entertaining match. Unlike watching other boxers like floyd is a total waste of money. Bradley have already said before fighting pacman that he is already old yet what happens to him made him realize the reality.

Everyone Pacman's faces always underestimate the little guy. They thought that Manny is too small for 147 lbs. But he destroyed a lot of them and even challenges bigger guys like Margarito. But after the fight, they all eat their words. Look at what happened to Hatton and Margarito (damaged eye).

I like this fight between pacman and lucas because lucas is typically a quite guy. Yet just like pacman this boxer is a slugger even if he doesn't have the speed like manny he can still be a good match for pacman. On the other hand it could be a test for both fighters. For pacman to win another built and for lucas to prove that he deserves to be on that spot

Right, its going to be a test for both of them. Lucas and Manny has something to prove that's why this fight is really exciting. Will be good to see if Manny has the mindset that has made him a household name around the world.

Floyd vs Manny was good from a very technical perspective if you enjoy defensive boxing... Floyd neutered Manny, he did what he had to do, it was Manny's job to be the aggressor, who was expecting Floyd to take huge risks? he hasn't been doing that for a while. He made Manny swing at air and miss many shots, Floyd was scoring surgically as usual. It may have been a bit tedious at some points and missing some action but I wasn't expecting anything much different than what we saw.
This is so true. I am a fan of Senator Manny Pacquiao, others may not accept his loss with Floyd but it is true, but his fight Manny may have shown that he is the aggressor in the fight but it is not enough to show how aggressive you are to win the fight. If you are missing a lot of punches and the other is hitting with accuracy, judge will really give the fight to the one with less punches but high in accuracy.

@Boafeng. That news article is hype. Do not trust anything positive written on the fight before any fight. You will go home very disappointed hehehe. Remember Floyd versus Manny, or Floyd versus Conor McGregor? Both fights were hyped to be super fights, they pleased many people, but ended failing to impress the real fans.

Floyd vs Connor was a fun match, I enjoyed both the hype and the actual match even as a "real boxing fan".

The Dude is done but i guess he can still sell a fight and make good money from his fame even though he might end up loosing so i think so long as he doesn't see anything wrong in tarnishing his reputation by loosing fights then we should leave him to make his money. It's good business dude!
Even if Senator Manny can still fill arenas, that doesn't mean its not the time to hang up the gloves yet. What Manny's camp should look at is his capacity to fight, can he still fight younger boxers and win. Manny is already a Legend and a future hall of famer. I would rather see him hang up the gloves while he is still on very good shape, than retire because someone knocked him out cold.

I am supporting Pacquiao against Matthysse in the upcoming match on 15 July because pacquiao is in good body language and can defeat any player comes in his way. It is the rules not to have a perception to consider your opponent not a loser of a poor competent and I believe that Mathysse can upset in this game. It is boxing and my choice is Pacquiao in this game, what is yours?

What makes Manny Pacquiao interesting is his play style, which you may find aggressive. His age does not hinder him from performing fights that people want to watch, unlike modern boxing which primarily relies on the scoring system (although I that should be the case but typically it's boring). My only concern is about his endurance, stamina and power since aging inevitably makes someone weak. Not to mention, his reflexes and dodging abilities tend to get slower as time passes by but with his experience, I believe that he will win this fight. Again, win or lose he will make a big bang of a buck.

Personally, even that we consider him as the people's champion, I am worried about his performance as a Senator in the country. People voted him in order to lead (although his qualifications are underwhelming relative to other senators) and fights like these tend to make him absent from most of the plenary sessions in the Senate. Hopefully after this fight, he dedicates most of his time into serving and voicing out the concern of people in our country.

Just a couple of days before the actual fight. I'm sure that the Philippines is already preparing PPV shows all over. hhahaha. They all love Manny and even though he lost some of his luster, Filipinos still loves to watch his fight live in every bar and even in a cinema. That's how Filipino loves him because he really one specially boxer and its going hard to be duplicated again.

Yes. Some nearby bars are offering a live telecast now. Not just for Manny but there are Filipinos on undercard too. I have a ticket pass honestly on one of those but unfortunately I like to watched at home because I can't make it to travel by that early in the morning. It's weekend so restday and I want to stay at home. There are lots of free streaming sites available just as before. I just need to find a server early as slots are limited.

Back to topic, Pacquiao and Matthysee are still on weight maintaining training as part of preparation for the upcoming weigh-in on Saturday. Both believed they will be in for weight limit and I guess too that there will be no problem.
Probably not duplicated but admired and hope to be like him or better. He made Philippines proud because of the achievements that he had. He just had his prime days and we will see on the next match on how he is going to fight. It's fun to travel with Manny fighting here in the Philippines because almost everyone watches him here and there is no traffic. Less crime, that's what others say. Haha  Grin

I think there's still a lot of hype surrounding the fights and I just came from a landbase casino and I see they are offering bets. I totally forgot to put one because I wanted to get home because of the traffic!!! (Only in the Philippines).  Grin

I guess many Filipinos will still watch him eventhough that we has somewhat aged and lost some of his power. Expect less crimes as everyone, even criminals momentarily stop what they are doing to watch the fight.  Grin
