@Boafeng. That news article is hype. Do not trust anything positive written on the fight before any fight. You will go home very disappointed hehehe. Remember Floyd versus Manny, or Floyd versus Conor McGregor? Both fights were hyped to be super fights, they pleased many people, but ended failing to impress the real fans.
It's all part of the promotion of the upcoming fight. You don't write negative news before a fight or else no one will watch. We can only hear negative news after the fight.

The fight between Floyd and Manny did not need an advertising as their names are popular enough even to non-fight fans all over the world. That fight was not hyped, this upcoming fight maybe. Smiley

@harizen. When was the last time Manny Pacquiao was knocked out by an opponent, and what are the chances that Lucas Matthysse can do it? It might make the fight more entertaining to bet on Lucas knocking out Manny and wait for that to happen hehehe.

Pacquiao was knocked out by Mexican boxer Juan Manuel Márquez in December 2012. That was the last time he lost a match in KO. But we should remember that he has lost 4 of his last 10 matches.

It was a long time ago and I don't think that it has bearing in this fight. Marquez and Matthysse fighting style are different so I don't know why it was brought up in the first place.

Anyways, Fortune, Pacman's strength and condition coach, says Manny is already in top form already.

Quote
Fortune notes that Pacquiao will be looking to create fireworks for the local fans.

“Those phase of the training program will give Manny a clear mind and strong body designed to help him fight a good fight and give boxing fans the fight they like,” Fortune told The Manila Times.

“We all know Manny. When he fights, he always think of the fans, how to make them enjoy and happy.

Let's just wait and see what would be the outcome of this match. We have our own bet anyway. This fight is very important for Pacman, this will decide if he still can fight or he needs to hang his gloves. No matter what Manny decision is, as a Filipino i'll continue to support him, win or lose.

If my memory serves me right, JMM (Juan Manual Marquez) was the last boxer who KO Manny, it was not just a KO, it was a KO heard all over the boxing world... hehehehe.

Of course Lucas has a big chance of also scoring a KO because he is also a KO artist specially during his peak. He has several wars in the past, however, with Manny's experience, I don't think that he can get one because Manny has change a lot. He strategised, and doesn't have that mentality to go after his opponent and look for a quick KO.

Enough with that "he should retire" "he should hang his glove" "he blah blah" "it's good to retire while healthy" etc. That's a lol. That's not the purpose of this thread in the first place. Looks like it's not enough for others that Pacquaio already made statement about that and I posted it here. You guys will not understand something that you don't have a passion for about more than a decade so just let him fight until he quits.

Back to topic...

Lucas Matthyse now arrived at Kuala Lumpur Malaysia, the host for this event, and will right began his training and conditioning. I really expect Matthyse will be an aggressive here because his goal is to Knock Out Pacquiao whatever it takes. As he mentioned, Pacquiao will be the biggest name in his resume and it's a achievement for any boxer to face a legendary boxer. Looks like we can witnessed again another blow by blow encounter just like what happened in Horn vs Pacquiao match.

Pacquaio on the other hand, will arrived on Monday.

The Dude is done but i guess he can still sell a fight and make good money from his fame even though he might end up loosing so i think so long as he doesn't see anything wrong in tarnishing his reputation by loosing fights then we should leave him to make his money. It's good business dude!
Even if Senator Manny can still fill arenas, that doesn't mean its not the time to hang up the gloves yet. What Manny's camp should look at is his capacity to fight, can he still fight younger boxers and win. Manny is already a Legend and a future hall of famer. I would rather see him hang up the gloves while he is still on very good shape, than retire because someone knocked him out cold.

Exactly, he's already a legend but maybe he still want to have a fight so he can earn more money and make all the Filipinos proud again. This is a real business now, because even if he lose the money will come to him. I hope this fight will be a clean one not like those previous fight which Manny really won but the result is different.

I don’t think it’s for the money anymore. He’s already rich enough to retire and be able to sustain his family until he dies. I think that boxing is really his passion and it’s the only thing that he knows to do and can do. Even while he’s a senator and living comfortably, he still chooses to continue fighting. I think it’s bad for him and that he should already retire since from the previous fights, it looks like he has not been performing as well as before plus he’s already getting old. As we should all know, these fights are usually manipulated and betters may have been wanting to see new fighters and winners.

It may be both. Pacquiao loves to fight but he also has problems with the IRS (rumors say). He also needs the money to keep funding his political campaign and other projects in Philippine. If I was him I would keep fighting for as long as I can physically do it without risking my health too much. He is now in a position where every single fight will be a big pay day, even if it's against more mediocre fighters. Keep making money while it lasts, age catches up on everyone eventually.
He doesn't need funding yet hes already on the position in the government and projects would be funded itself by the gov't. No doubt he do still have the passion for boxing since this is the thing that do lift him up to reach out financial freedom and popularity but basing on health I think it is already enough and theres nothing more to prove out. About the problem on IRS I think its already been resolved and as long you do have the money those wont really be a big issue.

For the upcoming fight his opponent would really be that easy to beat of considering on the current age and performance of pacquiao he would really have a hard time on it.

He just gave it up so no more discussions and no intend to tell such words as a sports man and well respected athlete.

Any updates on how's this Mathysse-Pacquiao fight going?

Well, anyways that is the new pacman who accepted his defeat without giving a word. I have no actual footage of pacman and lucas for now but last week I've seen their fight plans and trainings. Pacman is doing unnatural training. He is lifting weights which I can't always sees on pacmans training. Base on that he is trying to raise his punching power since it is obvious that lucas is a stand man fighter who can take hard punches. The speed of pacman is still there tho.

On the other hand lucas seems to focus on a one punch KO for pacman. Which for me is very strategic since that is what happened during pacman marquez fight so this is very interesting

I heard he has a lot of charitable projects in line for this year. He like's helping the poor since he knows how it is when you have nothing on your table. In 2016 alone he has built 1,000 homes for the homeless and this did not come from his salary as a Senator, this cam from his purse from boxing. He also estimated that he already given away around $200 Million on projects to help the less fortunate. This fight may have the hype like his previous fights but the sure winners of this fight are those who will benefit from his winnings.

He is a living legend!
Manny is out of his prime already, and he didnt lost his last match, he's been robbed. In the eyes of the audience Manny won! But, sad to say Boxing becomes more of a business than a sports today. I mean, not only in boxing, everything!
As I noticed, after Manny lost his killer instinct, rigged matches had happened.
About the last fight with Jeff Horn? oh well look on who's making the crowd noisier, it's still Manny Pacquiao right? But due to his humbleness and he doesn't want to take it to a longer discussion, he had had enough with it and he knew it coming. A cooking show was settled before the fight.

That is i think the problem that pacman will now always be facing since he is now a different person. He is more humble and down to earth which makes other people think that they can easily manipulate every fight that favors to their fighter without receiving any complain from pacman. That is also why pacman should go for a KO in the next fight to prevent the result of the cooking show

What do you mean? Fight is scheduled as plan and Mattysse already received his money and now has arrived in Malaysia. July 15 in Malaysia and the Philippines and July 14 8 pm at US. Pacquiao will arrived on Monday, might do several rounds of promotion before the actual fight date. So I'm hoping to see a good fight between the two. Lucas said he wanted to retire Pacquiao for good, while Manny is trying to bounce back after his lost to Horn and proved that he can still give us a fight and that he is still relevant to the boxing world.

He is but definitely not the same dominant manny pacquiao. A lot of things has happened already and boxing isn't his focus anymore aside from the obvious fact that he's aging already. Don't expect a knockout or even an exciting fight this time. Probably a long technical one is more likely to happen. That is, since he still doesn't want to hang up his gloves.

Indeed, pacman is not as dominantas before but he still has most of his power. Expecting a knockout from his power is still up. Yes pacman is aging but his power and speed is still there. The problem why most of the time pacman don't go for knockout is because of his mindset. After that he change his religion he is a total different person.

However, as pacman have said in his previous interviews, KO will eventually come so he really doesn't need to go unless it has presented itself. We still remember how Marquez took him out because he is very aggressive and looking to knock Marquez down but he was brutally KO because of that lucky punch. He maybe humble but he is a different animal inside the ring, that's for sure.
