And who knows, maybe this is the start of Floyd's career in exhibitions fight coming to an end.
His exhibition career was already end when he done fight with Logan Paul, after that he have next 4 exhibitions fights with Don Moore, Mikuru Asakura, Deji Olatunji, and Aaron Chalmers. But I don't see any hype, his appearance doesn't enough to bring the crowd. Maybe if he fight with McGregor or Jake Paul, it would be different. But McGregor want to comeback in UFC, while Jake Paul only want to fight in a professional career, Mayweather will not want since he is really care with his undefeated record.
Right. He didn't experience a loss and his ego is higher than any boxer out there. I doubt he will accept a fight where there's a chance his record will be tainted red. He will only accept those who are either staged or smaller than him meaning he can defeat them without a big effort at all.
That may be the reason why fewer fans will watch his fights. It's not just because Chalmers is not a popular personality.

Anyway, we have an upcoming fight this Sunday GMT+8, Saturday night for Eastern Time. A good one brought to us by Showtime.
Will be held in Toyota Arena in Ontario, California.

What I meant is that he will just retire and not fight anymore. But we all know that he loves to make money, so maybe just one or two more exhibition fights against McGregor or who has the hype today in exhibition matches.

Japan? Yes, not sure if he still has contract with the Rizin, Manny Pacquiao has signed recently if I'm not mistaken. So he might be the new face and face some Japanese MMA figher in their New Year's Eve event.

If there's no interest with his fight it might be the end of his exhibition career, but as long as he can still collect money out from the exhibition he will continue fighting, Mayweather loves to make a sure money, it's the promoters who needs to work on it and find good names to bring into hypes for people's interest.

Last time there're no hypes and if this kind of matches happen to him, then there's no more money on his name to continue.

Nicolas Ponce has more fights than Matias but the quality of their opponents is clearly in favor of the latter. Matias has been fighting good-quality of opponents even before he reached his 10th fight. This might become a huge factor and besides, Matias is already used to fighting big crowds in the US while this is Ponce's US debut. Still hoping for an upset just like his countryman Maidana did in his US debut.

And though Jeremias Ponce doesn't have any losses Subriel Matias just got the wits while Ponce got the aggression and it was imminent in the 1st round well, even though this is Ponce's debut to fight in the US he was not shy at all and was very aggressive and got some volume shots to Subriel Matias, but on the 2nd round Subriel Matias is retaliating now maybe he was hurting with Ponce's punch but I really doubt it but surely Matias just got the chin and durability from the beating, it was a very close fight it was literally close they are close to one another it was the determination to stand-up that is why this fight is really good, and on the 5th round you can see that Ponce having a difficulty to stand up because of the beating he received, and even if he stood up he can not raise his hands Subriel Matias is really one tough dude,

I was really surprised when Ponce right away attacked his 100% KO win rate opponent. I like it but I thought Ponce is also ready for a 12-round war which is why he spent big energy right away in round 1. I also thought Matias will be down later from the pressure of Ponce, but it seems the huge experience of fighting high-level opponents made him survive and remained composed. I felt like Ponce is still willing to fight but his corner are scared after Matias started to change the fight into his momentum. And the fact that someone very good and undefeated before was already dead after absorbing a lot of heavy blows from Matias made Ponce's corner more concerned.

Matias 19-1-19, now the new IBF champion has a scary message to WBC champion Regis Prograis.
Quote
“I have a message and I want you all to just spread it far and wide,” Matias said. “Prograis, I’m coming for you. I’m the world champ now. And I promise you, I’m gonna send you to the hospital. So, get ready.”

But Regis Prograis 28-1-24 is a KO artist himself and the more proven fighter of the 2. Hopefully, a unification is going to happen this year right away. No more unnecessary title defenses since we want the best to fight the best. 2 KO champions, both KO artists and are in a bad blood already, it's going to be a war.

It was well yeah we will now be having a Brandon Figueroa VS Mark Magsayo this coming March 4, and I think it will be an epic battle, I know that Figueroa just got his defeat against the hand of Stephen Fulton and because Fulton doesn't want a rematch from him Brandon Figueroa is now aiming for Mark Magsayo, for me also got a great record but is he conditioned to fight Brandon Figueroa, I surely have a lot of question because Brandon Figueroa could surely win in this fight aswell, but because Magsayo is a Filipino likely I am still going with Magsayo

It's not that Brandon Figueroa is aiming for Magsayo but it's just turned out that Fulton will skip his plan on moving up to 126 to face Naoya Inoue in the 122. And just to be clear, Fulton is not that he doesn't want a rematch against Figueroa but just man enough to take the massive call and demand on taking Inoue before considering moving up. He just shows that he will not duck Inoue even with how dangerous the monster is so better to stay at 122 for now to face Inoue.

Yes and that's what he have been saying for Fulton, he has the balls and guts to fight the prime Inoue at 122 lbs. Although initially this is Inoue's first fight, but we can' discount the fact that he has the advantage even if Fulton is the champion.

I also recognized the strength of Brandon Figueroa who probably has a better chance to win against Magsayo but the latter does have a good experience already against top boxers in the 126 like Gary Russell Jr. (although semi-injured) and Rey Vargas who is far better compare to Figueroa who is new to 126 division.

Still a toast up between Figueroa and Magsayo, still 50/50 for me although Brandon has listed as favorite. Magsayo still possesses that one punch KO and then Brandon should not underestimate him.

But definitely, Floyd is still bringing money when he had his exhibitions fights, just a fight in Japan this December again could yield him easy cool $10 M or higher.

However, he is aged already, lots of money and doesn't need to fight even for exhibition fight to remain relevant in boxing. He can just simply find talents like what he did against Gervonta Davis and guide them on how to become boxing's cash cow.

In terms of experienced Magsayo was a former champ in this division if my memory serve me right, I think both fighters are capable it's just a matter of how good the training will be, and how the camp will prepared for their strategy to win the fight, Like what you mentioned Figueroa's chance in winning is considerable but for sure it will be a tough fight for him.

Magsayo will not waste this opportunity to climb back and re-try to regain his title.

Mayweather is getting it pretty bad in the news today for the lack of people showing up to his last fight.  That's sort of embarrassing and shows that people aren't really willing to pay to see him fight anyone no matter where he goes.  A long ways from the hype of the Conor McGregor fight.

I'm awaiting the results of the Tommy Fury and Jake Paul fight now.  I didn't go crazy but tossed a few in for Jake Paul.  I like his troll act and think he's put in a ton of work to be able to compete at such a high level and knock out legitimate athletes.  I look forward to seeing him continue to try and get to a world title.
Mayweather fight with no one, recently he fight with Aaron Chalmers aka MMA fighter, the fight wasn't scored because each of them can't knocking out each other. I think Mayweather seems to have lose his hype, but many people are still cheering McGregor and Jake Paul, this might because Mayweather isn't a funny person.

Right, but he offers an explanation, the fight was not promoted as expected and they were just like 1 month of doing the social media promotions. In any case, it might be that Floyd is losing his ground now.

And the bad news is that he says he hurt his hands against Chalmers, although he has history of broken arms in the past, and with his age, it might take time to heal and it will be brittle the more he fight, he is nearing 50 years old.
When I saw the fight with little audience, I laughed a bit with it.
I mean we've always know that when Mayweather has a fight, there is always a crowd into it, but not on this one.

Promoted or not, I think Mayweather posted in his social media accounts that he has a fight against Chalmers right, and correct me with this one, but I know how a single post or tweet coming from a popular person like him can be shared or spread online, so I don't think that his explanation is valid. Unless he didn't promoted it in his social media accounts at all then I guess the explanation is plausible.

He doesn't just want to say that "I'm becoming less and less popular that's why it ended up like that." I guess the people have had enough of it already.

Maybe this is just one fight, so let's see what Floyd will do in the next one. Maybe he will stage it either in UK or Saudi Arabia because that's where the money is right now as the rich Arab nation is willing to have fights happening in their soil and promoters are willing because they know that they will pocket more money.

And in any case the Floyd had his second fight in either place and still no fans watch it, then yeah, he is getting less popular now.

I didn't know Mayweather had a fight.  Grin

Just finished reading the news and it was held in London, there were a lot of different reasons from different people on why there's a lack of people who watched it but I doubt that's the right one. Even if he has lesser fans in the UK, that is still Mayweather who was undefeated before he retired. There will always be followers who would go to lengths and visit London just to watch him.
Some say it's because his opponent Aaron Chalmers is not that popular. Well, yeah that's the case but again, that's Mayweather.
Honestly, I just sniffed this news from you, meaning it was not in the trend or they failed to hype it even before the fight.
I'm not familiar with Chalmers as well, maybe Floyd thought that he is popular in the UK that's why he staged that fight in that place thinking UK fans are going to buy their tickets.

But we have the Tommy Fury and Jake Paul fight in Saudi as well and maybe that's where the UK fans is.

And who knows, maybe this is the start of Floyd's career in exhibitions fight coming to an end.

Maybe you just had an error but yeah, Stephen Fulton is not interested to move up in weight for the rematch with Figueroa and instead it wants to fight the Japanese superstar Naoya Inoue. Figueroa is then scheduled to Mark Magsayo in another date for the WBC interim belt which would be then mandated to fight the real champion Rey Vargas.

Agree with you. It's not that his body does have the capability of quick self-healing providing the fact that he is aged now.

But if he is serious about getting into a quick rehabilitation, the technology today is somehow good and there are ways now to actually give a quick recovery for an injury like that. We have to wait then for the progress and what will be the probably next move by him.

Selling a Bivol vs Canelo rematch won't be hard since they showed an entertaining fight in their first meeting. The media will hype Canelo taking his revenge, and in case he wins, we can expect even more hype for a trilogy. That's how great fights are made, and boxers and promoters can make a lot of money at the same time.

Wait what, Canelo vs Bivol's first meetup is an entertaining fight? Cheesy

The hype Canelo just turned into a punching bag for Bivol and overall, did not become entertaining to watch as Canelo wasn't even able to give a good fight.

But regarding marketing the rematch, definitely, it will be sold out even without the media will hype it because of the reason that Canelo is popular and one of the recognized top boxers right now and Bivol also established a big name after beating Canelo.

I sort of think that both the Mayweather and Jake Paul stories might be coming to a close. You might see a rematch or a fight with KSI, but I don’t think McGregor will fight him now that he’s lost. Unless maybe McGregor loses his comeback fight and decides to give up on fighting to do something else. With the shine off Jake’s record now, I think he’ll probably stop being a story in another couple of fights.
