This year's Brazilian championship is increasingly surprising, I doubt that at the beginning of the championship anyone would have imagined that Fortaleza or Botafogo would get so far and finish as one of the best teams in Brazil, or even at the bottom of the table, I doubt that anyone would have imagined Fluminense or Corinthians there...
I agree about Fortaleza. They have always been mid/low table teams. I myself did not believe it, but today I bet almost blindly on them. They have really become better under their coach and this improvement has been going on for years.
Surprises me most about Fortaleza is that in 2017 the club was in the third division of the Brazilian championship, that is, practically at rock bottom and the club's rise is quite an impressive feat... would it be good management? I have no doubt that in a few years the club will emerge as one of the Brazilian football powers, this is very good for football in the northeast region, which has always been a supporting actor on the national scene.
It's a mix of good financial and technical management. Vojvoda was a turning point for the club, along with president Marcelo Paz. Together, the two simply became part of the club's history. Vojvoda has had million-dollar offers but has remained at the club, and that says a lot about his management and what he wants.
what else do you think are the key factors for a team to suceed?
do you think popularity is something to take into account or it doesn't matter so much?
it's always nice to see conviction paying off.
I think we should follow the same path as Fortaleza, bringing the team closer to its fans, having an organized fan base that thinks with the club, doing a lot of marketing to attract new fans and of course having a team with a coach who is minimally engaged and good financial management of the club. I think it's something along these lines, following Fortaleza's formula.
