Another scandal involving players and sports betting, this time it was Bruno Henrique, Flamengo's striker, the police went after him at the club's training center and from what we could find out he was involved in match-fixing and betting, all thanks to a yellow card in the game against Santos for the 2023 Brazilian championship... and several people linked to him bet on this yellow card... all this is regrettable

here is a link to the news (in Portuguese): https://oglobo.globo.com/esportes/intercolegial/noticia/2024/11/05/bruno-henrique-pode-ser-preso-e-banido-do-futebol-entenda-as-consequencias-da-investigacao-por-manipulacao-de-uma-partida.ghtml

Fortaleza surprised me in yesterday's game. Although I had no luck betting on the team, this time it worked out because their opponent was Juventude, a team that is fighting against relegation. Despite Fortaleza being the visiting team, when I saw the result almost at the end, it was no different. It was a sure bet and practically guaranteed! Juventude created opportunities, but without any results, even though they had more possession of the ball. With this, Fortaleza is back in the spotlight in the Brasileirão, competing for the title with Botafogo and Palmeiras. If these two are careless, they could have problems with Fortaleza.

This year's Brazilian championship is increasingly surprising, I doubt that at the beginning of the championship anyone would have imagined that Fortaleza or Botafogo would get so far and finish as one of the best teams in Brazil, or even at the bottom of the table, I doubt that anyone would have imagined Fluminense or Corinthians there...

I agree about Fortaleza. They have always been mid/low table teams. I myself did not believe it, but today I bet almost blindly on them. They have really become better under their coach and this improvement has been going on for years.

Surprises me most about Fortaleza is that in 2017 the club was in the third division of the Brazilian championship, that is, practically at rock bottom and the club's rise is quite an impressive feat... would it be good management? I have no doubt that in a few years the club will emerge as one of the Brazilian football powers, this is very good for football in the northeast region, which has always been a supporting actor on the national scene.

It's a mix of good financial and technical management. Vojvoda was a turning point for the club, along with president Marcelo Paz. Together, the two simply became part of the club's history. Vojvoda has had million-dollar offers but has remained at the club, and that says a lot about his management and what he wants.

There's no need to be upset
exactly, and again this is the thing

buying a player will be easier than buying a full team
buying a series C is easier than buying a series A player

of course this is all relative and speculative
in an ideal world no player would sell yourself for making faults but we know that this is far from an ideal world.
Match fixing sometimes take a long time to be discovered because only one or two players are involved on the scheme. At least, that is what investigations have pointed so far. In previous year's Botafogo, John Textor concluded there was 1 to 3 players who could be potentially manipulating results, and they are no longer on the team.

I still have some suspicions of players who decrease performance on purpose, since they miss obvious plays, goals or commit dumb faults on adversaries, but as said earlier, it's really hard to prove this.

that's crazy
and even crazier that some are risking their paychecks (which are not small most of the time) for more money
I wish we had a way to create a more ethical society. it's crazy how low the ethical level is.

Fortaleza football team won the match against Juventude football team easily by 3-0 . That was any win by Fortaleza because they did hard work in low level matches and now they are full prepared to play against any big team of World. Juventude team   shots were more in number and these were 17 and I will explain more about both teams.  The shots of that team were 6 which were on target and targeted shots of opponent team were only 4 . But when we will see the result of that match we will favor Fortaleza team because they are winner of that match because they did 3 goals in this match and opponent team could not do any goal in this match.

But the result gives 3 point difference and I have seen all the schedules that Botafogo has, showing that only Palmeiras is the only strongest team for the remaining matches they have, if Palmeiras can finish all the remaining matches with win then they can match Botafogo in terms of points.
Let see who between the two will succeed in winning the title, at least there is still chance for Palmeiras to take that position and of course this is really competitive competition this season between Botafogo and Palmeiras, if Botafogo can win the title then it will be big surprise.
It's hard to trust these two teams given their recent past. When they want to lose, they do it hard. And I have no doubt that this will happen to them in the final stretch of the championship. I believe more in Botafogo winning than in Palmeiras. Botafogo must have learned from past mistakes, but I don't think Palmeiras has yet.
But it would be better to forget about their past because now everything is different, Botafogo and Palmeiras will both show really fierce competition even though some people don't really believe in Palmeiras, I just want to see how Palmeiras efforts can fight for the top position and break Botafogo struggle this season.
Botafogo and Palmeiras also have meeting in the remaining match schedule, if both of them finish it well and in their meeting Palmeiras can win it can make them superior even though the points will be the same, besides Palmeiras also has an advantage in goal difference.

What is your opinion about the incident with former Real Madrid player Marcelo? He managed to have his contract terminated due to lack of respect for the coach and for not respecting the hierarchy within the club... Do you think it is correct?

For those who don't know (I think it's hard to believe, since it became worldwide news) former player Marcelo and coach Mano Menezes argued on the sidelines during Fluminense's last game:

It really doesn't make sense for a player who is relatively good at a club to let his performance drop in order to win betting deals, thus putting money above talent and effort/performance, given that football, being a very popular sport and full of statistics, there will always be a loophole that these players can commit and be caught in these schemes.
Maybe they are motivated by promises of huge rewards superior to the money they would make in a monthly or yearly basis through wages paid by the club. Maybe they see how much the main stars of the industry make through marketing propagandas and conclude they are never going to have chances to reach that profitability level, so they get desperate and join such shady schemes. Or they might not enjoy playing and putting effort into the sport anymore, so they are concerned only about easy profit.

Money is put above everything else these days. People don't love what they do anymore, rather they just do it because they need or desire money. For us who are outside this industry, it looks really unbelievable, though.

In the end Palmeiras and Fortaleza shared points because of 2 - 2 draw, clearly this is an advantage for Botafogo because Palmeiras cannot continue to chase and narrow the points gap considering that if Palmeiras in this match can secure 3 points then they have 63 points with Botafogo 64 points because Botafogo also managed to get win over Bragantino.
Everything I expected and predicted was right, from these three matches besides giving Botafogo an advantage to stay in the top position also gave me success from the betting slip I made earlier.
Very good, congratulations on the bets. Palmeiras' result was the worst possible for the club, if they had won they would have put even more pressure on Botafogo, but what happened was that they gave Botafogo a chance to make a mistake and continue to be the leader of the championship, there are 6 rounds left, I think it's hard for anyone to take the title away from Botafogo, they only lose to themselves... but the way things are happening, it's going to be very difficult not to be Brazilian champion. Who would have thought... I would never have imagined Botafogo being champion.

how much you think sports betting interfere with wins and losses now that it is a thing in Brazil?
I usually ask people in the streets (I don't watch many games) and they say that brazilian football changed a lot after sports betting was legalized
what do you all think about it?

There are countless cases of football players involved in match-fixing, and within this type of corruption I think that bookmakers are victims as much as the bettors. The website below has some information about the "betting mafia" that happened (and I think still happens) in Brazilian football.

https://g1.globo.com/go/goias/noticia/2023/05/28/como-funcionava-a-mafia-das-apostas-infografico-mostra-os-jogadores-os-apostadores-e-os-lances-vendidos.ghtml

my main thought was always that would be easier to convince one or two players but hard to control the results of whole matches because one would have to corrupt too many people all at once so it wouldn't be feasible

I see in the link that this is more fore faults and cards, do you think the mafia goes even deeper?

It's a good line of thinking. We can remember the case of Paquetá, where people won bets when he got a card. So it's really hard to control a team in big divisions, but in small divisions it's easier. So, on a large scale there is corruption in series B C D... But in series A the tendency is only for specific players and usually the bets are on cards.

I don't think so, because corrupting an entire team is much more difficult, there are many people involved and it is much easier for information to leak... But I still believe that this is just the tip of the iceberg, that's what they discovered with a lot of investigation, but I think there must be many, many more things hidden... I confess that this took some of the shine off the sport for me, I don't see the games with the same eyes as before.

We can't forget the referees either. We're only talking about the players, but referees have already been accused and arrested. And in my opinion, it's even easier because of their low salaries, and it would be easier for them to give a card or something like that. They're an agent that's easier to corrupt on the field.

It's horrible to think that there could be several players involved in this scandal. But the tendency is for this to diminish if the accusations and investigations increase.

And why do this? Could it be that these players aren't content with their high salaries and are still willing to put their careers on the line?

I also can't understand the reason for all this, maybe the money that moves this is much greater than the salaries that the players receive, something like millions of dollars per game, Lucas Paquetá must now be spending much more money on lawyers than he earned with the scheme lol, this shows us that any easy money, goes away just as easy. Crime doesn't pay.

Internacional are perhaps going through one of the best periods in their history. they have lost only once in their last 16 league games. They have averaged over 2 points and haven't lost in 11 league games. They recently defeated Atletico Mineiro and continue their strong run under the leadership of Roger Machado.Flamengo tried to make up for their derby defeat by beating Juventude and have an important game in the race for the top 4.

They are trying to build a system under Filipe Luis and are going through troubled times. The injury to their top scorer Pedro and the lack of form of their other players has taken them away from the title race. Internacional wants to continue their winning streak and move up to 4th place. Flamengo, on the other hand, wants to get the point and keep their place. Internacional will continue their streak in this match.

So true! If they continue this trend and keep scoring goals and accumulate points , then they really have a chance for that 2nd spot right ? I mean only 8 points separate 2nd place from 5th place right now and if Palmeiras does a single bad step , Botafogo will be champions but it will also give fair chances to Fortaleza ( my fav team ) , Flamengo and International to fight for that 2nd place.

However , if they cannot climb up to 2nd spot , 4th place should be easy to achieve as h2h squad talent , we can say for sure that International have better and talented players than Flamengo at this point.
