Even in developed countries people are not aware about the bitcoins so it will definitely take time in developing countries. And knowing it and using it is totally different things. And we want that people should start using bitcoins rather then just knowing it.

Developing countries can actually leap-frog existing technologies and move to Bitcoin.
That is actually an advantage for them.

Yeah I agree and I think it's developing countries that will have the opportunity for large-scale adoption.  It'll be much tougher in developed countries due to the amount of regulation that exists in any financial matter.

I don't have data about the knowledge of bitcoin in my country but I think that it is known very little. I don't know people who own bitcoins and when I talk with various people about bitcoin they don't know it. Even there were (rarely) news about bitcoin at the principal televisions. I haven't read any newspaper which treat problems or story about bitcoin.

I am from the Netherlands. I guess most people here have at least heard about Bitcoin, including old people like my grandmother. Might have to do with the tech savvy population and one of the highest Internet adoptions around the world (almost 100%). Even my 87 year old grandmother has a tablet with Internet. In addition the level of English is high, which helps as most information about Bitcoin is in English.

Nevertheless I am not satisfied at the speed it is being adopted. I notice it is especially difficult to convince the older generations like my parents as the fiat system has always played out rather beneficial for them.

Among young people almost everyone knows what is Bitcoin and most of my friends also own a bit of Bitcoin. This also has to do with the fact that when I owe them some money (e.g. from taking drinks or a bbq) I always transfer this in Bitcoin. That is my rule. Some of my closer friends also deeply invested in Bitcoin however unfortunately some of them lost big sums of money with the Mt God fiasco.

In term of merchant adoption we are doing great. We have some big webshops accepting Bitcoin and several Dutch cities are growing quickly in terms of merchant adoption such as Arnhem or Amsterdam. Together with a few friends we are now working on increasing the merchant adoption in Rotterdam.

The community here is also strong, with some cool start ups like Blocktrail and a nice mix of Dutch and international people. So in the end it is not so bad, compared to other countries, but we could still do so much better. There is enormous space left for improvement and more adoption Smiley

Nice bitcoin development in your country and I see in the future that it will developed much more like bitcoin development here in my country Philippines. How BTC bitcoin developed in your country? Are there many people in your real life that you know that use BTC ?

At my country, only a small portion of population that know bitcoin as internet currency. Just like my case, I ask all my school classmate, no one ever know bitcoin even my teacher. May bitcoin only get known on fully develop country rather than growing one

Yes and it can be only profitable when it gets into a mainstream and that is only possible when there is a mass adoption at the all levels and even big corporations starts accepting bitcoins as a mode of payment then only the prices would be stable.

Bitcoin have popularity and some websites are starting accepting bitcoin.... Grin Grin

Yeah and shopping has become much more easier now after the existence of bitcoins. And it saves a time too but still in my country it will take time to get into mainstream as very few merchants are accepting bitcoins as a mode of payment.

Lucky Guy. I wish I could be in Netherlands too where people are knowledgeable and are ready to accept some new things coming in their way rather than blaming and making weird faces when they listen something like bitcoin. The situation is too worst in my country and it is difficult to convince them as they are so used to fiat and credit cards.

In my country still very less portion of the people have heard about the bitcoins but they haven't used it. And it makes me little worried that when bitcoins will be popular at the global level. I think it is now time to start adopting bitcoins as a currency but looking at the awareness level of the people around me I think still it is long way to go  Huh

In my country bitcoin is not popular only few people use bitcoins some people think it's a scam or ponzy scheme but in near future i hope it will be get popular there
Exact same with me, maybe we're in the same country LOL

This type of thinking can be found in all the countries. Btc is still a small baby its growing. I think now not more than 5% people are using btc in one country. Btc will take more than 20 year to become a mature boy.

cryptocurrency will continue to grow.
of course the fact that virtual currency is a good idea
