Let's question this way, Can ETH be the next bitcoin? There are very less possibility for any coin to take over bitcoin as its too far with its marketcap and its values. There are possibility to be the next coin after bitcoin. We need look at the market. We have a coin silently coming up in the market. That's MAKER. We haven't bitcoin cash as well. Maker and Bit oincash are behind bitcoin. Bitcoin if far ahead. Let ETH take over BCH and Maker.

Yes, there are now many people predicting ETH can beat bitcoin, I suppose this can not happen because the bitcoin value is 10 times higher than the ETH, although ETH has a very good foundation and time. Recently ETH prices have gone down a lot, it depends on the price of bitcoin. I believe Bitcoin is going to be the leader in the future and Ethereum can not beat Bitcoin.

in my opinion there will always be a possibility that ethereum can beat bitcoin, The reason for saying this is that over 90% of crypto investors are looking for profitability, stability, less transaction costs, quick confirmation etc.

For its price alone it still follows the bitcoin price movement, it seems even a bit slower than bitcoin, how can it shift bitcoin, I think for the next it will still be difficult to shift it until its popularity exceeds of bitcoin.

It's not my first time answering this kind of question. I think it's about 2-3 questions like this I've answered though I still disagree. Why? It is because Bitcoin is the ultimate cryptocurrency I know. It is so called "King of Cryptocurrency". So obviously, no one can beat this crypto. Bitcoin will not allow that. That is the reason why, this crypto is always suprised everyone with the status of its price. Again, I don't believe that ETH can beat bitcoin even though ETH is a good coin also.

Maybe there is a possibility because of the high fees of bitcoin compare to ethereum. Bitcoin is still expensive even if segwit or lightning network is implemented bitcoin is still has costly transaction. Plus the fact that bitcoin's volatility brings down it's price always and not getting stable.

Yes, Already ETH has decreased a lot and the price of ETH is nearly 350$ in the month of August 2017, now it has reached almost there but the market will recover and there is no problem. Now the market cap is kept decreasing so only the price of all coin kept decreasing.

The price of ETH drops much faster than that of btc, which means the ETH is not so solid as btc, or there are more support from the btc. So I think there is no much possibility to achieve that goal.

Well, first of all, you must understand that there is no logical comparison among Ethereum and bitcoin.

Bitcoin is created as an alternative to regular money and is thus a medium of payment transaction and store of value, Ethereum is developed as a platform which facilitates peer-to-peer contracts and applications via its own currency vehicle.

If your only sense for comparing both is the market capital, then my answer will be "It could be possible, but it will take years before that happen".
There are a lot many uptrends around Bitcoin, with lightning network coming in place and FOMO money driving in Crypto, the Bitcoin dominance is supposedly to increase back above 50%.

Same here fundamentally speaking Ethereum can really Bitcoin but it gonna takes a time to that happen. Once all of the newcomers here realize the technology of each cryptocurrency that's the time they will realize how good ETH was but right now they are only thinking for Bitcoin.

Ethereum has gone down big time. There is no stability in Ethereum's price. Neither is there stability in Bitcoin nor in the entire market of cryptocurrency. There will be no stability in a market that is very volatile. The fluctuation of the crypto prices will always be ever present because the demand all over the world is constantly moving up and down also. Aside from the demand, the news and the regulatory steps of the governments will always be playing a vital role as well. But in all these movements, Bitcoin will remain to be on the forefront. Ethereum cannot overtake Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is the king of kings in crypto market, yes off course Ethereum is a potential coin but cannot even reach at least half of Bitcoins value or price on any given time.

Ethereum is the top most and potential coin in the altcoins section and it will rule the altcoins for ever and Bitcoin will rule the whole crypto currency market for ever.

BTC is the beginning and the rest are followers
If you think ETH will overtake BTC, for me it is impossible
BTC may affect other coin prices and the other altcoins (ETH) can't affect BTC prices, this is a small example of the state of the market
