To my opinion no, Ethereum can't replace Bitcoin at number one position among cryptocurrencies.
Ethereum is good altcoin and worth trading and investing but it will remain just second best. Probably it will grow further and attract new investors, the price will go up, but that will not be enough to become number one.

But I strongly agree with the opinion that 2018 is the year for Ethereum.
but bitcoin will remain the prima donna of all coins because until now Ethereum is triumphant but the coin stability is long to be broken down by Ethereum.
Ethereum has a great potential and what we can be almost sure about is that ETH will not go down from this point. But will it be rising faster than Bitcoin that's a question. The thing is that even if Ethereum is better than Bitcoin from technical point of view (I'm not saying it's better, but suppose it is) there are so many people who support Bitcoin and who will never go deep in any technical details that I think Bitcoin will be number one long time from now.
2018 will be a year of Ethereum just like 2017 was a year of Bitcoin. Ethereum is more innovative than Bitcoin. Ethereum is faster, has lower fees and supports smart contracts. It's not just a cryptocurrency, but also a platform for other services. Its potential is huge. I'm sure that Ethereum will be Bitcoin's successor soon.
I think Ethereum has more potential for growth at the moment but BTC will always be king. Its a store of value.
I like this statement, is the king established the kingdom.Well, I don't think ethereum cannot beat bitcoin probably because bitcoin is the first ever cryptocurrency with the most highest rate ever incomparison with the newly made cryptocurrencies. Another thing, bitcoin is already in operation for almost 8 years and its current price is getting much higher than ever.
Many big corporations were already considering bitcoin as the currency that is highly accepted in their business transactions.
NO , can you see the gap between that two cryptocurrency ? Bitcoin is very high than Ethereum and could take years to tie with its value but if that happens bitcoin also increasing which enables ethereum to beat the bitcoin, Aside bitcoin is more popular and trendy so people are looking for it and not Ethereum.
On my own point of view I dont think ethereum can beat bitcoin because of the big gap of its price.Bitcoin has a very huge price but nothing is impossible so if that would happen it would really take time or it will take a couple of years.
Long term, who knows...there seems to be a bit more 'innovation' and forward thinking from ethereum, but it's not necessarily as stable. I think 2018 will be a great year for Eth, but it certainly won't overtake BTC this year.

Right now, fluctuations in cryptocurrency value is determined mostly by investor sentiment, not due to changes in the practicality of the coin as a payment method. Because news is now linking BTC with a correction, and ETH with a spike, there is investor efflux from BTC -> ETH. Soon enough there will be a reversal and the process will repeat.

Your right, Ethereum is growing very fast this month as well as bitcoins. I believe that eth coins can really beat bitcoin if there are a lot of people who are going to be interested on investing this coins consistently and maybe in the future ethcoin will be the first bitcoin to beat bitcoins.
For me, its slim changes that ETH will beat BTC.

pretty obvious that ethereum is rocketing to the moon, but its too early to say that ethereum can beat bitcoin in terms of value, ethereum is miles away from bitcoin and even bitcoin is still in volatile sooner or later bitcoin moves again and slowly increase just like before.

actually yes, if we are looking as a business people, but the mainstream have the choice to make the price from the bitcoin. and the mainstream only knows BITCOIN BITCOIN BITCOIN, which bitcoin is the ethereum etc. pp. they dont know what is cryptocurrencies, they only know BITCOIN BITCOIN, so the fame of this coin would be never go deep.
