If you don't place bet with real money I think its not gambling instead its just "playing game".

literally the adrenaline and entertainment coming from placing bet using money.
I agree with this, because basically if we use money we can have the possibility of the final result of gambling that we can consider as a reward for gambling, so if we don't use money I think it will be very boring and very, very useless, just watching empty spins without any expectations, without adrenaline that can excite the gambling that is done, because it's just a number of numbers on a utopian balance.

Maybe this can be provoked, for example with friends, we can compete to get an imaginary balance on the account to make a very large amount, but it does not have a long impact and we quickly get bored in doing so.

Do free games excite you as much as games that involve betting money?
free game that you mentioned will definitely less exciting, it's basically like just playing game which essence is killing time, so logically its not as entertaining as the game that requires placing bets. I mean the fact that you don't stake anything mean whether you lose or win doesn't really affect you therefore it produces less excitement.
Which means that if you don't risk anything, there are no wins and losses, and maybe it's just a game win that makes our time occupied by the same game but not fun, basically humans are all the same, if the free game can get fun, or can provide benefits for us, today most people will not risk their money to gamble, they will definitely do it all to get fun and win.

But I would be interested in how you answer the question of whether free games can be considered gambling. Another way to put this is: can gambling be free?
Sometimes we use money that was given to us freely to gamble, either from tips in our workplace or a gift, it could be birthday or another event. It is considering gambling so is in this case too. The question is do you risk the money on some odds? If yes, then it is ambling. This is because we may decide to use the money for something different like enjoying ourselves and doing a lot of things, yet we choose to gamble with it. This is the same thing here.

The dictionary definition literally specifies cash placed on a bet.   You can certainly bet without cash, risked or won and my own personal opinion is that gambling can involve non cash bets.

Two cars racing for pink slips would be the non cash bet that still counts as gambling.  2 horses with costs of these horses involved it is certainly great costs at risk in that bet.   Or any other asset would still count as gambling, so straight away its not literally just about money.   So start from there and you can easily include Bitcoin or any crypto into the idea of gambling even when its not considered cash by the majority of the world.

To an even greater extent I would include other assets as gambling and this can include virtual items, crypto isnt physical after all so its not far till we can almost bet anything with something risked and it counts as gambling really.   I've seen pixels in a video game being bet, nothing physical or really that will alter the worth of a person but the pixels are valued as a cosmetic attractive worth so there is a gamble possible.    Hence I would probably say gambling can be about anything at all and you are betting your own time and effort to some extent thats the gamble.

No money at stake, not gambling.

Another way to put this is: can gambling be free?
Yes. Although many might not agree to this but giveaways from the casinos and games and rounds, they're giving free credits so that's gambling for free.

And about disagreement, it's because some casinos that do that have certain requirements that you need to wager.

Do free games excite you as much as games that involve betting money?
Yeah, they're fun when I just wanna have fun.

2 - you have 10 friends and they are at your house, each one plays against the computer and the guy who gets the furthest in the game is declared the winner, each of your friends bets 10$ and the winner takes 100$, this is considered gambling. are considered illegal gambling because you don't have a license and neither do your friends have a license

Are you serious?  Grin Who needs a license to place a bet against another person? You can't say it's illegal if I'm making a bet with you that a certain team will win a specific football match and we do this involving no third party, we are not using a bookmaker for it but we do it personally, there is no concept of this being illegal only because we don't have a license, you can't have a license to make such bets, that is illogical and there is no need for that.

A license is required to run a business if you are allowing people to come over to your house, play games or watch games and make bets while you collect the pot, charge a commission on it, and give the remaining money to the winner, that can be considered illegal because you are trying to run a business discretely and not trying to do it openly with permission.

Making personal bets with each other doesn't fall into a gambling business category.

Yes and no. Actually, card games without betting money, strictly speaking, are not gambling and people play very differently when they don't bet any money than when they bet money. But also many houses offer the possibility of playing with play money (fictitious chips without real monetary value) so that many people who at first do not dare to bet money, try to play with fictitious money and many of them end up depositing and betting with real money. So it is like an intermediate step, like a warm-up for real gambling.
Playing without having to bet with money is never gambling at all. You only play just for entertainment only. However, it's a different thing when you play and bet some money, it's way more exciting and interesting, because if you win, you end up making more money and that made you more motivated to play more. But for those who play with fake money only to end up betting with real money, that's just preparing yourself to the scenario of real gambling, where you can make more money or lose all the penny you have simply because gambling is not just all about winning but losing as well.

If you will look again how you define if the activity is gambling - "it requires three elements to be present: consideration (an amount wagered), risk (chance), and a prize." Source : Gambling .

In consideration of these 3 elements, if a person is not wagering anything of value, then I would say, you are not gambling but basically playing for fun/entertainment only. Missing one of these elements won't qualify for a game to be called gambling. Even if you are playing with play money, it won't be eligible as gambling activity.

Yesterday I played free card games on the computer and had a lot of fun and it was also quite exciting. You know, I play different games: both paid and free. And sometimes, based on the fascination and the pleasure I get, I find it difficult to say which games captivate me more. But I would be interested in how you answer the question of whether free games can be considered gambling. Another way to put this is: can gambling be free? Do free games excite you as much as games that involve betting money?

Think about it this way: when you play video games like Call of Duty on the computer with friends, are you gambling when you do this? definitely not. why not? because it doesn't involve betting money. Now if you get your friends to place bets on who will win the Call of Duty game then it becomes a gambling. practical examples:

1 - you have 10 friends and they are at your house, each one plays against the computer, the guy who gets the furthest in the game is declared the winner. everyone plays without putting money in, in which case it is not considered gambling

The involvement of money on free games would actually a good start and this probably attracts potential players. Most of the advertisement online offer this type of strategy in order to grow their potential market on gambling as part of the promotion. In a business, capitalization is needed in order to promote certain gambling business that's how essential it is to increase the return so basically the free games would be their gateway for gambling.

But I would be interested in how you answer the question of whether free games can be considered gambling.

To know this, we need to understand the definition of gambling, some say it is a game of chance to win money but it is incomplete,  We need to know the full definition of gambling because having some of the definition missing will misguide us into understanding what gambling is.

The full definition of gambling according to the following sources is:
Another way to put this is: can gambling be free?

Gambling cannot be free, according to the definition, we have to stake or sacrifice something of value to have a chance to gain another value.

Do free games excite you as much as games that involve betting money?

It depends, if a free game offers a good value as a reward then these free games can excite me.  Who would not get excited if one is given a free chance to win a huge reward? In gambling, the excitement is not on the stake but on the possible outcome of such stake,  I believe it is the same on free games that promised a good amount of reward if we got lucky.

It depends whom you ask, really, most of people will say that gambling only takes place when there is an actual wager being put at stake. While others will say gambling depends on whether the result of an event is completely based on unpredictable factors. To me, it is possible to gamble without having to put actually money at risk , thst is one of the reasons why so many concerned parents have talked about keeping random events or random based-entertainment away from games intended to be for children.
For example, in the earliest Pokemon gamesit was a common thing to feature slots as mini games, also in the first super Mario bros three, there were some mini games related to gambling . the money was fake and there was actually no risk, but regardless of it, the thrill and the emotions which could lead to addiction to gambling were real.

When a child start with fake money, it would not take them much to move onto real money.

The thrill and excitement that comes from free games can be intense, especially if the games are designed with skill challenges and entertainment in mind. On the other hand, gambling usually involves placing bets, be it money or other valuables, which can provide a thrilling adrenaline rush surrounding an unknown outcome. So, ultimately gambling is about risking something of value while free games do not require such bets.

Despite this, free games can still create an equal level of thrill. The excitement of winning, the competition to outsmart an opponent or achieve the highest score, and the satisfaction of completing a task all reflect the thrill gained from paid betting. For some people, such emotions are enough, they prefer excitement without sacrificing any funds. But for most people, the stakes involved in betting actually usher in a level of tension-laden excitement that many free games struggle to replicate due to the intrinsic risk element and aura of novelty they bring to each game.

There is no adrenaline whatsoever when using free games on gambling, it is just like a regular game with no passion to win and if you lose it will just be a normal thing.

To be able to enjoy free games, it is necessary to position yourself that the game is like real gambling with real money at stake.
It is quite easy, and it doesn't feel like you're going to get a lot of jackpots with free play.

It is already set in the demo game, so people will try to use the real game and make a deposit.
This is a marketing to attract a lot of interest from players who are initially on free mode and then do real gambling.

Even many online casinos will give a deposit reward if a new user logs in, so there will be extra money to start their first gamble.

Gambling is anything that involves putting money and expecting a bigger amount with the chances of losing all the money you put in. Without investment of money or time with the expectation of a bigger amount of money and the underlying risk associated with such investment, it cannot be called gambling. Playing games that does not you committing your in anticipation of profit is not the same thing as gambling. The emotions involved when money is committed to something is different from when there is no financial commitment, this is why gaming is entirely different from gambling. Gaming is mainly for fun and not because of money. I know there are some play-to-earn games but these does not qualify as gambling because by design and operation, they do not qualify as gambling.

I guess you’d have to stalk the definition of gambling and go with whatever is said there. However, I think this question is really more of an opinion than anything else. Online gambling with or without money being risked is essentially the exact same action. This also brings up another point. If someone is gambling thinking that they’re using real money but they actually aren’t, is that still gambling?

It is not gambling when there no money or any other valuable items at stake of being lost. It only become gambling when you can likely lose the money that you staked but if you win some money without staking your own money, is still not gambling. Free games are good but do not get over exited when playing them because sometimes they are useless and just used to make you pick interest in playing with money for real which is when you begin to gamble and the outcome is not as it was when playing in a demo mode or free mode as you have expressed. Free games do not excite me, I love it if I am playing I should be aware that I can lose or win therefore my dopamine gets more activated and makes me to enjoy the game more. Free game can only put me in the mode to use money to gamble.

if you're not using any money for the bet and you're going to win an amount at the end of the bet maybe because you won a betting voucher then it's possible that you're gambling but if you're just playing your regular game where there is nothing to win or loose, it's iether you're just practicing or you're having an unarmed fun from it.

We've been regular card players even before fully coming into gambling and we never saw it as a big deal or as gamble. My mum wouldn't want to be called a gambler but actively plays whote with us and we catch fun with it at our convininece and because money isn't involved it's never looked at as gambling. From the literal definition of Gambling, it's the process of playing games of chance for money. when money isn't involved, it's mere games and not gambling.

There is no much excitement in free games as when compared with gambling that involves money, and free games can for me can never be considered as gambling because you have nothing potentially to lose or gain. However, gambling can never become free and if when becomes free it can't be as interesting as when money is involved, yeah it is pleasurable and fun playing free games but when you talk about captivating emotions placing your fund gets it all because the level of the curiosity of how the end will become justifiable will definitely engrossed your passion.

Free is free so not technically gambling but that’s how they get you hooked, so they do that because they want you to take the freebies and want more. So I would say that the free games are a tactic used by the online casinos to get you to gamble for real.
