Yesterday I played free card games on the computer and had a lot of fun and it was also quite exciting. You know, I play different games: both paid and free. And sometimes, based on the fascination and the pleasure I get, I find it difficult to say which games captivate me more. But I would be interested in how you answer the question of whether free games can be considered gambling. Another way to put this is: can gambling be free? Do free games excite you as much as games that involve betting money?

Nah! It’s not. As long as you’re not risking anything in other to make more then it’s not gambling - you’re only just gambling or playing game purely for fun nothing more.

Even if you’re taking part in a prediction or contest that does not require you to risk your money it’s still not considered as gambling even if you’d get to win some price, it still does not qualify as gambling.

My sole purpose of gambling is to make money so I don't see the purpose of playing free games however some people enjoy games that don't require money to play so more power to them.

Nah, free games are just my test runs and I don't enjoy it just like the demo mode in slots.

First, no money is involved which takes out the spice of having an emotional swing when you are losing or winning. But if you are enjoying free games then I think it's good for you. It means you can easily be pleased by this type of game and it won't hurt your wallet. Grin
If only I could do that then I would've chosen that path. Whenever I lose, I put my eyes on my offline games like Defense of the Ancients against bots or Diablo 2 which is an old-school game. I can be pleased by those games but not an offline card game.

free games are not taken serious because there is no price attached or something to lose, a gambler sees free game as fun as such most gamblers do not involved themselves in any form of free games because they see free games as waste of time and energy, I believe that an individual can only be called a gambler if he or she is involved in using money to bet, once something or money is not involved, we can't call it gambling, the word gambling involves risking something and having in mind to double the thing in return, emotion must be attached and thats what makes any game gambling, involving in a playful games is not gambling but we can attribute it to pleasurable activity unless you guys decide to put money that's when it can be called gambling.

When we do speak in between the word gambling and "Free" then it would really be that totally understandable if you do speak or make use of your own common sense on which it wouldnt be that considered gambling
on something which you arent risking or gambling itself like money or some posessions on which you are really that trying out to obtain something like profits or in exchange on what you had bet.
If we do speak about free then you arent risking something so its not gambling after all. If you do find yourself that being that enjoying that free games then its good for you but as a gambler
then there wouldnt really be no thrill if you wont really be risking any something which does have value on which it would be understandable on this case.

So the answer to this question is simply "NO".

Either you paid for the games or you played them free of charge, if your possibilities of winning does not have a profiting potentials it is not gambling.
You definitely did not stake on the game rather you payment you made was just a service charges for the games.

This criteria of games is what defines more of game fun and not gambling for fun. Here in, you will play so happily with all anxieties that no matter how much you spent on the course charge of the games you are not going to regret because the gaming memories would always be remarkable that you will always want to go playing over and over.

Perhaps, such gaming won't even captivate you to spend more than you can not afford as it is strickly a fun game with no profiting returns as gambling may be.

Free games are not included on gambling on the others hand which games are not included on gambling if you play that games by placing betting then that will be gambling. The concept is very clear when you will add money on any kind of games or sports that will be gambling.

Nah. It's free. Pretty sure the basis of what a "gamble" is in the first place is if you put something in the table in an attempt to convert it to something better and no, time isn't included here. It's not surprising why you feel fun or excitement, that's just how entertainment in general is and gambling is also there, but it's not necessarily limited to gambling. What you did was simply play a game simple as that. Gambling can be called a subset of gambling since there's more in the table, making everything a lot more enjoyable (or has a lot more thrill) compared to regular playing.

There's absolutely a 100% difference between playing a game with something on the line vs something that has none.

Free game can not be gambling in my own understanding.  gambling is Anything or whatever we risk our money with, by trying luck base on probability which you may or may not win as the case may be. It is more of a practice section that enable you to know more about the game which after that, you may be good in the gambling section as a good predictor. Although there are also some games that cant be seen in the gambling section but only in the gaming section. but if you are a regular game player of the kind that is find in gambling section then you are good to go. So in my conclusion free game is not gambling.

Of course it's not gambling as multiple users have said. It's just more of a demo to the player and when participating in such games it only prepares us for the bigger one which requires money. Gambling requires money and nothing else should be tagged gambling other than when both sides expects to win money. But, if a person is handed out some free spins, it's still a gambling activity because the person could win some funds or lose. On the other hand, free games can be tagged gambling if two people who participates in it, wagers money on bases like whoever wins takes the money. For instance when two people play video games, and other viewers in the background decides to spend money on the winner, then gambling has been made out of a free game.

If there's no money involve then we can call it as gaming, but if there's money involve and you take a chance to get money from your bets then this is when you call your activity as gambling.

Free games doesn't give you guilt feeling since you can do whatever you want and there will be no bad consequences will happen after you finish your game. Unlike if you spend something on your game time which everything will be stressful to you especially if you start to encounter a heavy losing streak.

Free games doesn't give me an exciting feeling but rather this is boring compare when we place a bet where we put all our attention to the game and that give us a thrilling part knowing if we win or we are going to lose.

If there is no money on the line then it is less interesting unless I invite some friends over to play spades or euchre. Hanging out with buddies playing cards is a good way to blow off some steam and have some laughs.

No money = no gamble though as many have said already.
Playing cards without involving money, I often do that with my friends whenever we get together, and it's just a game and in my opinion it's not gambling. The reason is that in my opinion gambling is something we do that involves money or anything at stake. Especially at the Euros this year, a lot of my friends bet with other friends, even if it was just cigarettes or they would treat those who won.

I like playing chess, and when there's nothing at stake it's just a normal game. But if there is something I bet on with my co-star, then it turns into gambling. However, there may be those who have a different opinion on this and consider all games to be gambling even though there is nothing at stake. For me gambling is something that is synonymous with what we can gain or what we can lose from our holdings.

it is not the same but it can still be enjoyable, at least for me. I mean, I like card games like hold'em texas poker or tongits(a local card game in my country) and I have played a lot of card games online and offline that don't require you to bet any real money but it is still can be enjoyable but it is not that same as when you gamble with real money, there is a thrill you can get on gambling with real money that you can't have when gambling without risking any money.

Are you from any South Asian country? Because I have seen that there are more misconceptions in South Asian countries such as my country Bangladesh where there are many people who compare Ludu or chess games to gambling where no money in bet.
I don't know if you have this kind of thinking that games are gambling even if they are not played with money. However, from my personal point of view, those who think that Luddo, Poker is gambling even if they don't play with money, they are actually in misconceptions. If these are called Gambling, then will you say that also gambling going and watching sports on the stadium and predicting?

If you play free games on gambling sites it's just a gateway to getting accustomed to putting your money in and liking the process even more. For sure it is gambling.

If you wanted to play games to pass time there's card games without even the possibility of giving money but also many just for fun games. Of course these games can also be addicting and a huge time sink. So many things will generally battle for your time and money, it's not just gambling.

Interesting to know that this is how I feel too. Most times I am captivated by some YouTube ads games. I down load them and it is as exciting as the ads and sometimes it is not.
If you are playing such of these games, there are some that you can not continue to play without the internet connection on, and it the game will keep bringing up more ads. That is why I do not like such games and I am afraid of ads. But when I was still playing this type of game, I noticed that I played the ones that I can off my data connection because I do not want to ads to be showing. Some are truly exciting while some are not and got deleted from my phone. Recently I do not see the games exciting though. I kind of prefer the offline games like Dice, Ludo, Whot varieties and many more of offline games. I like offline games because people play it with someone and not just them alone.

I think the thing that makes free games which these days are not so free because of the in game ads and purchases is the level of difficulty and challenge involved. I do not consider them gambling because I didn't stake any money for a financial reward. Philosophically, the only thing I staked is my time the reward I expect is to move on to the next difficulty level. Also, gambling can never be free, one can have free spins from the casino which is limited but one cannot gamble for free.

Free games can be exciting and gambling can be free when we get free spins, free bets, and free coin drops. And I guess it's free until we finish the wagering requirements. But once we finish that and get to the withdrawable amount real gambling can start, or you will withdraw your winnings and you will not gamble with your money. You see, gambling is when we risk something... when we get some free stuff we don't risk anything.

There are a lot of different promotions in the crypto gambling world, it is easy to play in many places without any cost. Even on the forum, more promotions than ever, and most of them do not require any investment, it is enough just to participate.

Games are games, activities you do gntitrly for fun without any possibility of monetary reward at the end of it. Gambling primarily involves there being a possibility of winning or losing something depending on the outcome. You can win freebets and stake nothing with the possibility of winning something, but typically, you should have a wager and potential winnings.

Gambling in real world situations also involves taking a risk on a possible outcome which may or may not go your way.
