I think that in general, of course, it can, because a scam can be anybody, like a regular scam project that many projects today show and there can also be a project that today still distributes tokens for free in the hope of selling tokens more expensive.
very possible because paid ones can cheat especially free. it's just that if it's free we are not too disadvantaged so we don't need to be too sorry. in crypto this kind of thing is not foreign.

It's not only lose something is scam, after participate you joined and share information about this project. Although you don't lose anything, someone lose everything.

Absolutely yes, some free coins or tokens you receive belong to scam projects. Let me elaborate, some projects indirectly use you to promote their scam, then list on some low fee exchanges, build hype around the project with some false big news, then when people set buy orders, they sell off. Some will say it's free self drop and still raise enough funds, list and dump all. Example PENT and XTM, so before promoting any project  do more research, you might be killing people out there who will load up on exchanges and drown.

something like this is a farce when they simply do not send the coin to you see if a payment date if they arrive on the date they did not pay you was cheated and just did even enjoyed the project he wanted

I faced once situation when something completely free like airdrop resulted scam.
The reason is that people believed in product and decided to buy tokens on ether delta to participate in airdrop

FREE!!!! or EVEN with money can be a scam.

lets go with free of money.
AIRDROP and BOUNTIES.....
You dont need to send or invest any amount to gain on this.
But it is not 100% pure earning there are so many project who are scam.
Never do KYC on your AIRDROP if you dont want to get your identification on danger.

investing with money.
So many group are launching project and offer ICO.
If you will put your money make sure to make more research and do study the project and its people first.

In general, free tokens which are distributed by airdrop are scam. But it would be wrong to say that for all. For example, the hydro distributed thousands of tokens for free, but not scam.

There is nothing free here. The only thing free is in the mouse trap. But getting ethereum and email address wont be enough to steal your private keys, remember not to use your main email address with these free airdrops.

Yes ofcourse. For me it is possible to happen. Because nowadays everything that was imppssible can be possible now. Especially when we talk about free, that has a big chance to become a scam in the future.

Hi everybody,
Lately I am reading a lot of posts asking: is this airdrop a scam? Is that free ICO a scam?
So I am wondering how can something that doesn't cost you a penny be a scam. Sure, they get your email adress and maybe a ETH Adress, but how can you  really be scamed with only this informations? I am not talking about airdrops that require kyc registration, that for sure can be dangerous.
Cheers,
Its possible to use your information and other important documents to scam others. Many of Airdrop are scam, some are legit so be careful to join in airdrop. I think free ICO is scam also,, because they launch ICO to fund their project so if they free ICO is probably a scam.

Something free is able only in mousetrap but crypto is close to change this statement. Look at bounties and other similar projects, people get money from their doing without any investments, in general. I am not against for these ones at all because it helps people to improve themselves in this sphere and to get money.

Yes something that does not cost you a penny can be a scam, I have heard of one where they tell people that they are doing airdrops and once they are done with it a page pops up, and they are asked to log into their ether wallets only its a phishing site and they can get your wallet information that way.

Indeed, even misuse of your chance is trick, other than some airdrop are useless and the general population in control may require some specific measure of individuals for a gathering or something, which you have officially joined due to the airdrop, and they airdrop you the useless coin while they have picked up from the gathering which you joined.... That is trick alone

Scam does not always mean that money is taken from you. It could also mean promises that are not fulfilled or contracts that are not bound to come to a completion. In cryptocurrencies, any forms of scams can happen if your not careful enough to know what's legit or not.

You pay with your data. They must have collected your email, name, phone, gender, address and all the information you filled in. But I can not say it's a scam. They may test a new technology or measure demand.
For instance, facebook is also free just because your personal data is sold to the third parties and marketing companies who set the targeting ad for you.

I can not say what is generally possible, but I still think that today many people do not correctly understand what a scam is. Scam is a hoax, regardless of whether it is paid or free scam. Therefore, if you look globally, then yes, definitely it can be called that.
